I own a '22 dodge 2500 Ram and for whatever reason, the DEF system goes haywire, only when I pass through Carson Valley. Not the first time. Not wanting to be disabled in the middle of Nevada, I called and they said bring it in. The service advisor, Tom Koche, provided me with a shuttle;e ride to my hotel, and said we will figure it out. I feared being stuck for a a day longer than planned because they would be waiting for parts...). Tom called and said the DEF tank (inside sensor) was at fault, and they didn't have one in stock so he sent for one at a Reno dealership...told me my truck would be ready at the end of the day. I was impressed. Not only was my truck being repaired, but the communication was great. I have had poor experiences with other Chrysler dealerships, (I mean possible!) but this was by far the best. I have tried twice in the last couple of days to find parts for my vehicle and want a VERY SIMPLE request answered. Is this part in stock? Now I get that not everyone does research before contacting for parts, so I know what I need before contacting. After more than a dozen messages back and forth in their time saving and convenient chat, nothing. You don't need my address and email, you don't need my payment info, just a simple yes or no answer would have given you 5 stars. I get why you want all that information. Brought my 2022 Jeep Wagoneer in for three concerns , Bluetooth not pairing, 4WD not engaging, and abnormal air suspension messages. They charged me $735 and concluded nothing was wrong with any of them. When I calmly and respectfully mentioned filing a complaint because I was certain there were problems with my car, service advisor Brandi told me I was no longer welcome and rudely told me to pay and leave. Took it to a Reno Jeep dealership the following week. They confirmed the 4WD fault and approved it under my CPO warranty Carson refused to honor. They tested Bluetooth with MY phone, not theirs like Carson did, and confirmed my phone won't pair with my own car and verified witnessing my phone working in every other vehicle and concluded it was the car not my phone. They also confirmed that the front suspension raising for hours on its own and height messages randomly popping up without the driver changing any settings is not normal behavior, I have video proof of this happening. Carson charged $735 and found nothing. Reno found everything. I have an active Stellantis case and I need a refund from Carson Dodge!!! Was considering buying a Ram 1500 for my teenager son here... that will NOT be happening. Go to a dealership that actually honors your warranty .. Reno dealership is by far better!!! read more

I can confirm the avalanche of 1-star reviews is justified--my experience a few months ago was eye-opening, to put it mildly. The atmosphere in the service department was outright hostile. While waiting, I watched a customer get berated with multiple F-bombs and repeatedly told to "get the f*** out," despite the fact he never raised his voice or used any profanity himself. He calmly insisted on speaking to a manager; when the manager finally showed up, the issue seamed brushed off (but at least listened to). I paid, collected my car, and left as how could you trust getting any work done here. Easily the strangest dealership visit of my life. When I first arrived for my scheduled appointment, the service drive was deserted. I walked into the service advisor area to check in. Not one person looked up from their screen--I genuinely thought I'd walked into an employee-only zone. When I told an advisor I had an appointment, she didn't even make eye contact, just pointed outside and said, "Go wait by your car." I explained there was no one out there. Her reply: "They'll be back soon. Okay?" -- curt, rude, and dismissive. I later learned there was no real consequences on the hostile employ. Family connection? Staffing shortage desperation? Who knows. Whatever the reason, the behavior was clearly tolerated. Afterward, I read dozens of similar bad experiences in the reviews and decided I should get additional work done at another dealership. I usually stick with dealership service on my Jeep for the peace of mind, even when it costs more. Here, that peace of mind is nonexistent. Based on my experience and defensive unapologetic owner/manager responses I have read on consistent poor reviews - this place must have a deeply ingrained culture where abysmal customer service and work is not addressed. Took my car to British 4x4 because Carson Dodge said it needed a new wiring harness due to rodent damage. They were wrong. There was NO rodent damage. Carson Dodge had my car 10 months and couldn't find the problem. Brian had it diagnosed in 35 minutes! A relay was permanently closed. 30 minutes later my car was fixed. Still running, even if it did for days! Thanks for nothing Carson Dodge! 10 months and almost $1400. They said i only paid for a battery. A battery in a had vehicle b costs $1400? I had a very disappointing experience with Jeff, the used car sales manager at Carson RAM. When I came in to trade my truck, his approach was snarky and condescending -- not what you'd expect from someone in a customer-facing role. My wife and I thought his attitude after purchasing from him a week prior was offputting. To make matters worse, their trade-in offer was $6,500 less than what I received from Dolan RAM and $4200 less than Corwin Ford which showcases their lowballing skills. We purchase about 9 vehicles every year for both personal and business use, and I often recommend dealerships to clients based on the service I receive. We design truck wraps for our construction clients here in Northern NV and California and definitely not recommending them to purchase their trucks here. After this experience, I'll be recommending that our clients avoid Carson RAM if they care about integrity and customer service. A dealership's long-term value comes from building lasting client relationships, not trying to squeeze a one-time deal. Unfortunately, Jeff made it clear that customer loyalty isn't a priority here. read more

I am not one who would normally go to a service department at a dealership. I also understand that service departments can sometimes get a bad rap. My Jeep recently had an issue and through my research I discovered that Jeep had extended the warranty out to 15 years on this particular part . I brought my Jeep in on a Monday and the diagnosis was confirmed. The part came in the next day and on Wednesday morning they installed it. After leaving, I noticed something wasn't quite right with the repair. My service advisor and I agreed that I would come in Friday morning. I came in Friday morning and they fixed the issue and I was out of there in less than two hours. Throughout the process, my service advisor, Arnie , was professional, and kept me appraised of what was going on. The three times I was in there I was never there very long and they had me out by lunch each day. I just wanted to recognize their service and professionalism. read more

. . . i just finished reading my service invoice for today's work, AND I AM SO MUCH MORE IMPRESSED with the service level here at Carson Dodge Chrysler Jeep. . . . yet it was the service greeting that alerted me that this business was different . . . when arriving for the appointment I made last week ( they had an opening, I booked, and this evening so very happy with my decision ) . . . this is my first service on my Jeep GC Limited 5.7L, and as I was logging in my mileage from home to the service garage I am chatting with the Service Manager, who then introduced Jessica V ( service advisor ) who took charge from start to finish . . . I received that dreaded "Check Engine" light last week, did my self test getting the DTC PO456 . . . back to the invoice, very clear and descriptive of what services were preformed, by whom, and followed up verbally with Jessica V, so no questions were left unanswered. ((( I learned that my behavior of "topping off" my gasoling fill - not the tank but rounding up to the next highest dollar amount - $49.37 I fill up to $50.00 +- can cause the EVAP error and setup a system failure ))) I also appreciated the multi point engine inspection during the repair, catching a couple of minor issues that were approved by me and corrected. I have a 2600 mile road trip coming up next week and now i also have peace of mind. Buying my Jeep Wrangler in 2019 was a great experience--5 stars! Unfortunately, the service department gets only 1 star from me. I've been trying to get three separate repairs done (thermostat, back windshield, and heating element) and asked to have them completed at the same time so I'd only have to pay one $250 deductible. That didn't happen. I paid $250 for the thermostat months ago. Since last January, I've been waiting on the back windshield and heating element. The most frustrating part? Seven replacement windshields arrived shattered. Seven! I finally found one myself in Reno. After I called and mentioned that, one suddenly became available. Now the heating element is still not fixed--they overnighted a part, and it still hasn't arrived. Every time I bring my Jeep in, I have to leave it for several days, which is incredibly inconvenient. I also have to text and call constantly just to get updates--communication is seriously lacking. I will have to pay $250 deductible for the window, and then another $250 after that, totaling $750 just to get these three repairs done. I'm not rich--this has been financially and mentally exhausting. These are three separate issues, yes--but they could have been handled together to reduce both cost and inconvenience. It doesn't feel like customer service is the priority. It feels like the goal is to run out my warranty and collect as many deductibles as possible. Extremely disappointed. read more

Service manager is a completely dishonest person brought truck into dealer for repair and they damaged my mirror I reached out very next day after pickup and didn't get back to me so I went in when I had time about 2weeks later said he would get back to me yet again no response went back in 2 weeks later he came out with a picture and said yeah you showed up with that mark (mirror was replaced the day before the truck went to dealership) so I asked what color is the mark he said blue, I asked what colors are the lift he said blue so I said kinda weird He immediately said you're calling me a liar. Was told on the phone that they did accept Jeep coupons. Upon my first visit for an oil change, I was told that they, Service Rep weren't authorized to accept the coupon and I needed to see the Finance Manager. Second trip I was told that the Finance Manager isn't involved with Jeep/Mopar service coupons and I needed to see the Service Manager. Third try, another service rep couldn't OK the Jeep coupon and he tried to get hold of the Service Manager. Service Manager wasn't available so he took my name and contact info and forwarded it to his Service Manager for a quick response. Never heard from the Service Manager! They don't want new business! I thought I was being smart, going to Carson to buy my new truck instead of Reno. First, I paid CASH for the vehicle. I explained I was moving out of state within 3 weeks of the sale and would not be registering the vehicle in Nevada. I provided my daughter's address as the place to send all documents. The address was correct on ALL sales documents. The report of sale arrived after I left the state. I went to register the vehicle in my current state and was informed they needed the title and not the report of sale as I could have sold the vehicle. I immediately called Carson Ram and they stated contacted the title division and the title was just put in the mail. It is now almost the end of the year and I STILL haven't received my title. I was on hold with the DMV to ask about it when I realized Carson Dodge entered the wrong address on the report of sale. They also stated the truck was 'used' then it was a brand new truck. When I tried to call Carson Ram about this, I was transferred to voice mail. When I did speak to someone, they hung up on me because I pointed out they weren't listening to what I was saying. Now the only way for me to get the title to my truck is to pay for a duplicate title, which Carson Ram should be paying for since the error was made on their end. I needed an oil change done and I didn't have an appointment. I drove from South Lake Tahoe to the service center on Saturday at around 11 AM. I was greeted with professionalism and the upmost respect. It took them less than an hour and they were pretty busy. I've been to a lot of service centers at dealerships and this was by far the smoothest and most stress free process of them all. Even though I was getting my car serviced, as I was looking around the lot, the sales team was very kind and answered any questions I had while looking at the new cars. We got a 2022 Ram Laramie sometime at the end of July 2024. I traded in my Tacoma because I have two boys and it was not working with the car seats. We were able to get a truck and they kinda rushed because my oldest had an appt but we ended up missing it. I was satisfied with the purchase but I wished they cleaned it better. A week later we used the sun visor on the passenger side and it was broken then the heated seat didn't work on the passenger side. Warranty covered it but I still had to pay $200. Like how? I am disappointed in that because the vehicle for $40,000 although used should be in good condition. During the buying process I told them I didn't want the key replacement, scratch, tire service because it would cost more, they told me it's part of the deal. Since I had it I was trying to use it and put a claim in for an extra key. It's been a few months and I have tried leaving voicemails and talking to the service department and I believed talked to Nathan twice with no call backs and no one has helped me. Recall on DANGER for cells in battery and received the run around. Was told it was a software issue and that's all Chrysler Corporation told them to do. Would not recommend. They endorsed my warranty check and had i not noticed 1. I wouldn't be able to cash it and 2. They wanted me to come back another day for a fix after they had already had my car for 2 months. They charged me 222 dollars for a 20 minute plug in of the car and laughed in my face when I asked them about buying the car since there wasn't much I could do with a car that was broken down. To my surprise when I came to pick up my vehicle they drove it from the back to the front when I was told the transmission was blown. They can not show me the clause that they are talking about in my warranty, nor can the warranty company themselves. They told me "they lost to much money on that warranty so they're buying everyone out of their contact when something goes wrong" they also claimed the 200 dollars came from having to send a part to the warranty... like they would actually send a whole transmission too a warranty place. I was told the car needing the recalls would be ready by 5PM and sure enough, a text came in at 4:50 letting me know the car was ready. Wow! What a wonderful experiance we had! We were on our way to Elko to a Celebration of Life when our Jeep got stuck in 4-wheel drive coming down from S. Lake Tahoe. We made it to the Carson City Dealer - very slowly mind you - and with no appointment, I just showed up. BJ Butcher (Service Advisor) took fantastic care of us. He identified the problem, however they needed to order the parts and it was a Friday. He called the closest rental car agency for us to make sure they had an all-wheel drive available. They gave us a ride to the rental. Off we went to our destination. BJ kept me informed on parts arrival and when it would be done. Come Monday the repair was done. Long story-short. Apparently over tightened my oil filler cap last oil change. Found by dealer where I moved to when next serviced. Refused for almost a week to respond to my question after claimed same day response from service manager. Blame game while I'm out $100 for new cap and part of old cap being chewed up in bottom of motor. I would never recommend a business that passes the buck on and would not reply to dealer visit, phone call and text for a week. Don't believe a word from Service writers or their manager. Will contact Corporate next for at least a little satisfaction for my paying for something that was not my fault. I was informed of a trade in vehicle, 2012 Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty edition, had just got in. I was also recommended to contact Dan Dunham in sales. Today I called Dan and told him I was interested in looking at this vehicle and possibly purchasing it. He thanked me for going through him and said he'd be happy to help. My son and I drove 42 miles, from my work in Reno, all the way to Carson Dodge. Dan was finishing up on some paperwork which allowed me to set my son up on the WiFi to continue his school work. Once Dan was done he walked me back to the service department where the Jeep was being detailed. The front windshield was cracked and the driver side rear bumper was scratched and damaged along with the wheel. The inside looked worn, which I expect from a 2012, and that was all I saw of the Jeep. We then went over to my vehicle to get the registration, insurance and mileage. Back at his desk we proceeded to file for the paperwork. He wrote 34,000 + on the paperwork and said I would need to put cash down and my car payment would be a lot more than what is is now. I have a 2017 Jeep Compass with 89k miles. It had high miles when I bought it from the dealership in 2018. I said to Dan I'm not wanting to pay 34k for that Jeep with damage and repairs needed. I'd like to see if 20k is a good starting number. He said he couldn't help me, but he'd go ask. I had my credit on lock mode and when Dan came back he informed me of such. Then he added that he really would not be able to go below 31k. I unlocked my credit and it was run immediately, then Dan said he couldn't help me at all. I'd have to have Perfect credit in order to get a loan on an older Jeep. I received an alert that my credit was pulled and Dan said he couldn't help me, and that he should've spoken more with me prior to me driving all this was. Thing is...I was ready to trade in my Jeep. I did all the research on this vehicle and pulled the CarFax via VIN on their website. The Kelly Blue Book puts most Jeep Rubicons in the 21-26k price range for 2012. Not only was poor customer service given, extremely poor, I was dismissed like a lost cause. I then mentioned I have $ to put down and wanted the opportunity to work out a deal, but since I was treated so poorly I'd rather go to another dealership. When I asked him why he pulled my credit when he knew he wasn't going to work with me, he just brushed me off again. I was happy to leave given the poor customer service! I've purchased from Lithia Subaru, Reno Toyota, Carson Valley Motors. Never once was I treated this poorly. read more

I was a fan of the service department at Carson Dodge however in my experience, the service has gone downhill this year. I have had my truck in 4 times since June for the same issue; "P2281 Air leak between MAF and Throttle Body" which occurs when towing about 10k pounds, usually on a grade. Round 1 they replaced the MAF sensor. Round 2 they said the incorrect air filter was installed on Round 1 causing the cover to not seal correctly. Round 3 they said they found some loose intake bolts. Round 4 I was told they had smoke tested it on Rounds 2 & 3 which if they did, why didn't they catch the loose bolts discovered on Round 3 during Round 2 repairs? Round 4 lasted 7 days with no communication despite leaving messages and texts until day 7 when I called 4 times demanding an answer. Finally got thru and was told they replaced the MAF sensor again, put 70 miles on it and cannot re-create the issue. I don't know if it is truly fixed yet however if it is not, I definitely will NOT be taking it back to Carson Dodge. Enough is enough! read more

I have had to call for updates and have been promised two different dates for the completion of the repair. I will review the repair itself when I get my damn car back. I usually use independent mechanics and I will return to using them after this repair from hell. read more
