I can't believe I haven't written a review for Carruth! If you are ever wondering where I am, chances are, I'm here. My husband and I have been wine club members at Carruth since 2018 and we are regulars, going weekly for our complimentary tasting included with our membership. We've been going for years just the two of us, with a toddler, with a baby and toddler, with our dog, with large groups and small groups. All and everyone are welcome. We love how spacious and big the outdoor patio area is. There is tons of greenery and shade, lots of seating. The wine can't be beat (honestly it's ruined all other wine for me because it's so good and everything else now tastes like garbage to me). We are big red wine fans and their reds are bold and flavorful. On hot days, we enjoy their chilled reds. The service is super friendly. They have live music on Sundays and Tuesdays. They have different events that are always a blast - like an Italian market with a real Italian band and all the Italians in San Diego came and it became a giant dance party, honestly one of the funnest nights (and I was pregnant so wasn't even drinking!). They also have barrel tasting events that are insanely fun. We also love the little cheese shop and usually get a cheese board, burrata sandwich, and Italian salad. Their humus plate is also awesome. My daughter loves their pesto turkey sandwich. I love everything about Carruth, it's truly my happy place. read more

Plenty of parking in the surrounding area too. They have some indoor seating along the bar/serving area but most of the seating is outdoors in their wine garden. You order inside at the bar and then it's open seating/first come first serve. They have a bunch of wine options by the glass and bottle. They were not doing flights the day I was there but they have options for that on the menu. I got to try the newly released unicorn blend and liked that. They have a lighter food menu. Mostly charcuterie options but they do have a few salads and sandwiches. If anything, I recommend coming here for wine and then going to the liberty public market for food afterwards. read more

Always love Carruth! I've been a member for about a year now and have always loved the Little Italy location and it quaint charm! I was a little worried that the new Liberty Station location would be a tough act to follow! It still has that very new feeling, but you can tell that it's developing it's own character! Love how colorful they decided to make this location! Lots of flowers, lots of seating, lots of parking! They've added a few more light food options to the menu as well. The wine, as always, was excellent. The membership is very much worth it, especially if you love to bring your friends along for wine night. Each month, you receive a bottle of the monthly selected wine, in addition to a free glass/flight of wine for you and a friend on a weekly basis. I was not at all impressed with their new location or management on duty. We have been by twice this week and it was dead. Tonight we arrived at 815 only to be told by the manager on duty that they had stopped serving to prepare for their closing time at 9. The manager had a very sarcastic attitude and not very focused on customer service. Just awful - no wonder things are quiet. The fellow said the regional manger sets the rules to stop serving 45 minutes before the posted closing time. I do not recommend this spot read more

It's order at the counter style so you're given your wine + an order number up front and your food items are brought out to you once ready. There is seating both inside and outside with plenty of space for small and big groups. Although it was a grey day when we went, we sat outside on some very comfy patio furniture. We ordered a few glasses of wine (they also have tasting flights) and 2 cheese boards, which were way better and bigger than expected. The wine was pretty good too.
