Located near Liberty Public Market, Carruth Cellars has inviting outdoor and indoor seating with music two nights a week. It includes a cheese shop with a broad variety to order on cheese plates or take home. The main menu offers charcuterie, sandwiches and crostini, salads...lighter, cheese forward fare, beautifully presented. It's also near SD International Airport, so planes fly over frequently during takeoff. This is a bonus for toddlers who love planes! My grandson calls the place "cheese and airplanes". It's an urban winery. They make their own wine from stemming to crush through fermentation, purchasing from different wine regions in trucks especially designed to transport grapes quickly and safely. The wine club is a decent value with a weekly complimentary glass and monthly bottle. There is also a cheese club! In my family we are members of both the wine and cheese club. It makes for some great family gatherings. Service is super friendly. They make customers feel welcome right away. It's a relaxing open space near the bustling market. I recommend a visit. read more

We have really doubled down coming here since my last review. We are here practically every week and are now wine club members. We love bringing our pup and sitting outside enjoying a couple glasses (or bottle) of wine. We have our go-to sandwiches and favorite cheese boards. I am partial to the bistro sandwich and the mild and mellow cheeseboard with a few additions myself. All of the staff is really friendly and welcoming. Great hang out spot for a casual afternoon or evening. read more

Just ok in my opinion although, in general, I am not a big fan of places where you have to serve yourself. So if I knew this was the case ahead of time, I would have managed my expectations better. Pros- bartenders are very friendly. The cheese selection is on point. Dog friendly. Cons- $3 for a "baguette" ... I.e., one third of what a normal baguette actually is. Pro tip- just bring a normal sliced baguette in your purse. Pricey prices with no service...and the damn air planes. read more

This review is specifically for the Noir Nights event hosted on 1/24/2026. The event was poorly organized. They reached capacity after an hour into opening and stopped letting people inside but did not have the common decency to let the rest of the line wrapping around the building know so our group was waiting for over an hour right in front of the event entrance even after being told they would let us in when more people left. All while people were sneaking in right in front of their faces and not doing anything about it. This negatively impacted our perception of an event that clearly does not care about its patrons or community. The music and venue were the only highlights. read more

What a happy addition to the area. Bartender was nice and made great recommendations. Wine was great. Loved the sprawling double patios and large indoor space as well. I've been wanting to try this place for some time, but things never worked out. But this past week I was finally able to check it out! Super cute atmosphere and a chardonnay I'll drink again! (Made in steel casks not oak, so not woody). I had my toddler and my young pup with me, and we all had a lovely time. We'll be back again! read more

Stopped in for a glass of wine and quick bite before seeing a movie at The Lot. The staff was super friendly and attentive and the place had great vibes. I got the crostini flight and it was tasty. I can't remember the name of the man behind the bar but he was great and helped me find a crisp white wine that I loved. I will definitely be coming back to try more wines and more of the menu! read more

The perfect find. Such a cute outdoor setting with plenty of space. My friends and I got the wine flight and chef's choice flight, with 2 different cheeseboards. EVERYTHING was AMAZING. What really sets Carruth apart, particularly the Liberty Station location, is the INCREDIBLE staff. Shout out to Bern and Maria for being extra awesome. The wine membership is a great deal for anyone who lives within reasonable visiting distance to any of their tasting rooms. You get a glass of wine for you and a friend each week, and a bottle per month which more than covers the cost of membership. And you get to unwind in a fabulous setting surrounded by awesome people. I am a fan of the Liberty Station location - they have the best chocolate chip cookies and food options. And the vibe is spectacular. read more

So cute! Went to a birthday party here last night. We setup at a table outside. There was plenty of space and they had the space heaters going so we didn't get cold! Friendly and helpful bartenders. I got the crossitini flight which was reallllly tasty. They also have a vegan cheese board option which I'd love to try. read more

Lovely place, great wine, bartender is amazing. Lovely young man. Drinking on the patio with friends 5 star! Other friends passings by my n side walk with... Customer service "0 out of 100" got spoken to sternly by Jen... That patio is 21 and over. No outdoor signs. Unaware that patio is 21 and over. Would have been more than happy to move. Decided to find other venue. Over all so so, great wine... Customer service need improvement. read more

The food, amazing as always. I recommend the pesto turkey panini, a long time favorite. For Wines, unicorn and the port. I also like that they have a few beers on tap for other pallets. The ambiance, vibe and venue itself are great. Don't mind the airplanes, it adds to the San Diego metropolitan city thing. With this review really is about, is the service. We had a bachelorette party here Thursday and everything was amazing. Truly. Bernadette was on point for everything, always making sure our glasses were refilled, and helping with the flow of the event. Her and her teammates behind the bar Were so gracious and helpful and nice throughout the entire time. It made the experience so enjoyable. Thank you for the highest level of customer service, and care that you gave to our guests and our occasion. It's unfortunate we had to move a couple of hours away from our favorite winery, but we will always stop by for a bottle and a friendly smile. Thank you again for everything! PS if the owners read this give your staff a raise, or a bonus day off. THEY EARNED IT. read more

Cute ambience and great outdoor area. Wine was also delicious and they have great sandwiches too. Felt a little pricey but is worth it.

I absolutely love this spot! We probably go here once a week and it's so welcoming and relaxing.

Over the weekend, my fiancé and I hosted our engagement party at Carruth in Liberty Station and it was amazing. The outdoor space perfectly accommodated our party size. The wine at Carruth is some of the best in San Diego. I've been going to Carruth since 2021 (at their previous Little Italy location) and I've always enjoyed the wine and overall vibe! For our event, we also loved how easy it was to incorporate food vendors from Liberty Station's food hall! The space was inviting, had ample seating and standing area, and the bistro lights added a beautiful touch once the sun began to set. Thank you to the entire Carruth Event team for helping us coordinate such a fun evening for our special moment! read more

Wow!! I was so impressed by the taste of their vegan cheeses. Even my wife loved them and she hates vegan cheese lmao. The wine we choose were both amazing. The service was fast and quick!! Outside seating for adults only so what more can you ask for?! read more

I've been to the other carruth cellars location in Solana beach but when I heard they were opening up a wine garden in liberty station and they were going to have live music on a Friday, I was excited to check this place out. Plenty of parking in the surrounding area too. They have some indoor seating along the bar/serving area but most of the seating is outdoors in their wine garden. You order inside at the bar and then it's open seating/first come first serve. They have a bunch of wine options by the glass and bottle. They were not doing flights the day I was there but they have options for that on the menu. I got to try the newly released unicorn blend and liked that. They have a lighter food menu. Mostly charcuterie options but they do have a few salads and sandwiches. If anything, I recommend coming here for wine and then going to the liberty public market for food afterwards. read more

The service was amazing (Thank you Abby), and the ambiance was even better. Carruth had a jazz artist who played the flute and saxophone, which got everyone engaged, and the place got pretty crowded. Always love Carruth! I've been a member for about a year now and have always loved the Little Italy location and it quaint charm! I was a little worried that the new Liberty Station location would be a tough act to follow! It still has that very new feeling, but you can tell that it's developing it's own character! Love how colorful they decided to make this location! Lots of flowers, lots of seating, lots of parking! They've added a few more light food options to the menu as well. The wine, as always, was excellent. The membership is very much worth it, especially if you love to bring your friends along for wine night. Each month, you receive a bottle of the monthly selected wine, in addition to a free glass/flight of wine for you and a friend on a weekly basis. You also receive a discount on any other wine purchases. read more

This place is amazing, I signed up for the wine club immediately. The inside and outside ambience are both great, with two outdoor patios and plenty of indoor seating. I highly recommend coming for a relaxing Tuesday, Jazz nights with a glass of wine and one of the only nights they do their flatbreads. The staff are all incredibly attentive and friendly, the wait might look long but it never is so don't be intimidated. If you see Maddie or Alan behind the bar you're in for a great afternoon or night. read more

We have been Carruth Wine Club members since 2013. Why? Because they infuse their winemaking process with the energy of love and gratitude... and we can taste/feel it in every sip. Because the staff are a constant pleasure. Because the patrons they seem to attract are a cut above. And because the ambience is nourishing, with really enjoyable musicians often performing. We enthusiastically recommend Carruth Cellars, but, shhh, don't tell anyone!! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Carruth! If you are ever wondering where I am, chances are, I'm here. My husband and I have been wine club members at Carruth since 2018 and we are regulars, going weekly for our complimentary tasting included with our membership. We've been going for years just the two of us, with a toddler, with a baby and toddler, with our dog, with large groups and small groups. All and everyone are welcome. We love how spacious and big the outdoor patio area is. There is tons of greenery and shade, lots of seating. The wine can't be beat (honestly it's ruined all other wine for me because it's so good and everything else now tastes like garbage to me). We are big red wine fans and their reds are bold and flavorful. On hot days, we enjoy their chilled reds. The service is super friendly. They have live music on Sundays and Tuesdays. They have different events that are always a blast - like an Italian market with a real Italian band and all the Italians in San Diego came and it became a giant dance party, honestly one of the funnest nights (and I was pregnant so wasn't even drinking!). They also have barrel tasting events that are insanely fun. We also love the little cheese shop and usually get a cheese board, burrata sandwich, and Italian salad. Their humus plate is also awesome. My daughter loves their pesto turkey sandwich. I love everything about Carruth, it's truly my happy place. read more

I was not at all impressed with their new location or management on duty. We have been by twice this week and it was dead. Tonight we arrived at 815 only to be told by the manager on duty that they had stopped serving to prepare for their closing time at 9. The manager had a very sarcastic attitude and not very focused on customer service. Just awful - no wonder things are quiet. The fellow said the regional manger sets the rules to stop serving 45 minutes before the posted closing time. I do not recommend this spot read more

This is a really cute wine bar with a nice selection, I really enjoy going in and getting recommendations.
