Originally booked through a different company which was rescheduled but our flights were non refundable. Travel agent found 'On the Go Tours' which fit into our schedule. Somehow trust turned into Carrani Tours. While it did keep to the itinerary, the bus did NOT have the promised bathroom, the tour director, Stefano, was very nice overall but talked WAY too fast and repeated instructions for future days instead of just concentrating on the current day. Every time he repeated them, he changed them a little. Frustrating and confusing. Also Stefano offered a few additional activities but requested cash only and no credit cards which seemed suspect. My sister and I use walkers and we were denied access to St. Peter's Basilica, one-third of the very expensive tour that we had purchased. The folks at Touristation, the local tour guides, were kind and accommodating, and suggested that we ask for a refund. No refund. No disclaimer on the advertisement that the tour was substantially inacessible. Furthermore, the tour was like a forced march--the place was packed, people were rude and pushy, and there was no time to really see anything. Save your money. Fortunately we didn't read the reviews before we booked with them, otherwise we've searched for another company; however we had a Great experience with the 8 day Best of Italy tour. Witch included Florence, Bologna, Venice, Montepulciano, Padua and Rome. We were so fortunate to have Lucy Delcanto and Mariela as tourists guide. They were phenomenal. They found the way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. we had a great time with everyone in the group. Even though being in a tour is a little exhausting, they took their time for us to eat, rest and take pictures. They are very knowledgeable and experienced. We booked it through tourradar. read more

I did not book directly through Carrani tours, I was assigned to them through who I thought I was booking through, Tour Radar. I did not realize it was Carrani tours until the last minute, and my experience has been horrible! Very poorly organized, no communication, last minute changes to hotels from the hotels they promised us to lower grade hotels at the last minute. The hotel they put us at in Florence does not even have coffee in the rooms! It says it's a four star hotel but it looks very ratty and the carpets in the hallways are filthy and who doesn't have coffee in the room??? Now I am stuck here in Italy very unhappy read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! 1st they made us wait at the airport for an hour. Then they didn't confirm our pick up time as earlier than 3 hours. Called and called the # only to receive a message that didn't allow a message to be left. Finally one of the other numbers a man answers "hello" and what is your name? Then says the driver was there an hour before. Now I know it's not convenient to show up and just leave. I can't imagine this is normal. But maybe it is for them after reading some of the reviews. read more

I wish we'd had the opportunity to investigate this company BEFORE meeting them the morning our tour began. The tour, North to South in Italy, was booked through Wingbuddy. We had no idea that we would be "brokered" out to a different company. Though the tour guide informed us that we had gotten a letter from her at hotel check-in, we never did. She barged into breakfast and scolded us for being late even after I showed her the meeting time on the itinerary from Wingbuddy. Needless to say, that set the tone for the five days we spent with her. She spent more time telling us about herself than she did the sites we were driving past. Most of the other tourists on our bus were also unaware that we were being farmed out to other tours and tour guides. The worst was the day we were leaving Sorrento to return to Rome. We had confirmed our pickup time the day before, but after waiting for an hour, we called and were told that the driver would be there in five to ten minutes. An hour later, we called again and discovered that we had been left stranded. Carrani sent a driver to take us to Naples and provided train tickets from there to Rome. Pompeii Day Trip from Rome with Lunch:7:30 am English Commentary Tour on July 10 We were picked up at our at 0650 as confirmed but email the day before . It was a hot day the temperature in Rome alone was up + 39 C . They took us to the meeting location where we got on to a large motorcoach (bus). The ride was long trip and half we stop for a bathroom break and to buy refreshment Just before getting to Pompeii , we stopped outside of Naples for Lunch we had a choice meat or fish. The three course lunch for meat was a spaghetti tomato sauce then potatoes with sliced beef . The fish was pasta with seafood and then potatoes with fish the desert was a small chocolate pastry , the meal and the service was very well done in a lovely dinning room . In very lovely look Hotel with a pretty court yard. Arriving in Pompeii before entering gate . We went into this Jewel shop where they carve seashell into cameo and to use their washrooms .The tour was over two hour long and it was very hot. The guide was very good but I would suggest a rest stop in the middle of the tour as people were getting overheated including myself, there is a nice looking rest area that sells cold drink there that we past by. Walking down the streets of Pompeii looking at the the remains of homes and and shops you could almost imagine being there with people that lived there, walking into the buildings like the bath house you could almost feel them being there and being trap when the volcano dump all the ash covering entire city .It was something to see. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY We signed up for a Carrani tour called "Rome in a Day" on Expedia. Our tour was scheduled to depart at 8:30am and we were asked to arrive 30 minutes early. We arrived a few minutes before 8 and we're told to go away a return in 15 minutes. We came back and were told the tour left... wtf? The tour associate working on 4/12/17 at the Via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando 95 "I love Rome" office was so unbelievably rude... they finally had someone take us to meet up with a different tour. Buyer Beware. Went for a tour at a museum, we were less than five minutes late along with another family (4 adults and 3 kids) tried to call no answer literally they were inside the museum and nobody could try to contact us no refund, no consideration. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Panoramic Rome by Night Tour = What a waste of time. What a waste of money. We had to meet at the tour office, despite the booking form confirming our pick-up address, we called and they said that must be some kind of mistake (???) - it very specifically asked for our pick-up address. We met at the tour office and had to wait in the street for half an hour in the dark. Weird. My Mum is elderly and had just been out of hospital for a few days. I asked if there was somewhere she could sit and they directed her to a ledge at the front of a shop a few doors down the street. SERIOUSLY??? There were three chairs inside the office and I asked if perhaps she could sit inside. The tour guide said "If you ask me to ask someone to give up their seat, I suppose I could. But only if you ask me to. Is that what you are asking me to do? Are you asking me to go and ask someone to give up their seat?". A woman in the line yelled "oh come on! Get the lady a seat!" - it was unbelievable. I went inside and asked if someone would mind if my Mum had a seat and everyone offered their seat. What a ridiculous fiasco. The staff of this company need diversity training. They literally have NO IDEA how to treat customers with special needs. The simple idea of offering an elderly lady having trouble standing a seat was an outrageous suggestion and caused a big drama and fuss that needn't ever have happened. The tour itself was not good. It was late to start. It was rushed. The crowd pushed and rushed onto the bus. Our first stop was to collect the participants who included dinner (we did not, thank goodness). They were late, so we were told to stand in the street while they finished. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? THAT'S ALL WE'VE DONE FOR AN HOUR NOW!!! I told the guide we could not stand in the street and he made an alternative plan to lead us to the Trevi fountain, go back for the late diners then come back with the late diners. We sat on a ledge at the fountain and waited. We were then rushed from site to site, not really taking much in, not in any particular level of comfort and having to always fight our way back onto the bus amongst the feral crowd (there were a few polite people, but some were physically pushing my elderly mother to get on the bus in front of her, it was appalling!! The guide did not care AT ALL). Is it really that outrageous for a bus to have a seat by the door for the disabled? Every other bus I've been on has this. I complained after the trip that we had an awful time and that there was no consideration given for my mother, who was elderly and needed a seat instead of standing in the street at night for long amounts of time waiting for the late start of the tour and waiting for the late diners. The tour company refused a refund and told me that "Unfortunately not all countries have the same laws regarding disabled or handicapped individuals". So, basically, it's not against the law to treat disabled and handicapped people appallingly, so they have no problem and will do nothing about it. The tour company also said "The guide could not force the customers to give up their seats as they had also paid for the tour and seating is first come first serve, that way the best seats can be fairly claimed and no one feels as if the guide is showing favoritism". HOW ON EARTH CAN ACCOMMODATING A DISABLED PERSON BE "FAVORITISM"? I'm just utterly shocked and appalled at the gall of this tour company. It was a terrible tour. The participants were rough as guts. The guide couldn't care any less about the wellbeing of the individuals on the bus and the company really couldn't give two hoots if you're not happy. My advice? Our trip to Rome (July-September, 2015), has started during one of the hottest heat waves in the area on record (according to some residents). With temperatures at 100 degrees (F) with high humidity, it has been out and out miserable to be walking in the sunshine. We chose to tour Rome on one of those open-view panoramic hop-on-hop-off tour buses. We had a much less than happy experience with this company. Below is some of a letter that my husband wrote to the company: "Yesterday, I bought passes for your Hop-On, Hop-Off pink bus tour of Rome. Your promise of 20-minute waits at stops never happened for us. In fact, the least time we waited was 30 minutes, once we waited 45, and the last stop we dared to make (before the buses stopped running), The Colosseum, was the worst, and is the main reason I am writing ot you today. Our first bus hostess was a 40-50 year old woman with a large mole on her face (she refused to give her name, but I want you to know who she is). She was also the hostess on our last bus. On the first bus route, we noticed a very large delay upon leaving (the Trevi Fountain stop). We went downstairs to find her in a shouting match with a father (there with his wife and kids) who she was refusing to allow to board, even though he had tickets. (Apparently, he purchased tickets for a "round trip" tour, but not for the hop-on, hop-off service.) In any case, she did not offer to sell him proper tickets (aren't they supposed to be sold on the bus?) and badgered him, shamed him, and created quite a scene. The bus was not full, and I could not see why she could not have been friendly and allow them to ride, especially given that the weather conditions were dangerously hot. The bus was delayed at least 10 minutes for this scene. We were forced to wait at another stop for 45 minutes in the heat in a homeless area where a woman actually urinated right in front of us. Panhandlers tugged at our heartstrings constantly. A fight broke out between two groups of homeless people and they started throwing glass bottles across the park at one another. We wanted to see The Colosseum, and were planning on getting off at at least one more stop before our tour was over. We returned to The Colosseum stop at about 4:35pm, and waited for 45 minutes for the bus to arrive, only to find it completely full, and they refused to allow people to board. They said that we could not stand (saying it was not allowed), yet as they pulled away, we saw that many people were indeed standing. The bus driver assured us that the next bus would be along in 5-10 minutes. It was dreadfully hot, and during the wait for the next bus, many people resorted to hiring taxis to get them back to their hotels/homes. Standing in the heat was very dangerous to the health of the elderly, children, and those with physical issues. My wife had serious heart arrhythmia due to being forced to stand in the heat. Over 30 minutes later, after 6pm, the bus arrived. This was the original driver/hostess from the scene described above. She was very VERY rude to people. I asked for her name, which she refused to give. We are very disappointed in your service, and are writing to ask for a refund of our ticket prices. The service promised was not what we received, and because of the delays, my wife suffered in the heat, and we were not able to tour areas that we would have, should the buses had been on time." (End of letter) As we had to wait so long at stops, we heard from other riders (some from the PINK, some from other companies). It turns out that every single PINK bus rider had similar problems. One even said that their bus broke down earlier in the day, stranding them for quite some time. As far as the bus itself: The bus ride was okay. The translated tour commentary was easy to understand and they had many different language translations. They gave each rider a pair of earbuds (same as you get on airlines). The seats were hard and uncomfortable, and squished close together, so don't plan on leg room. The buses were trash-filled and dirty. The last bus we had was equipped with plexiglass walls on the top level, which were so cloudy, you had a hard time seeing through them. (So much for "great views" from the top). At one point, they had to do a "driver change", and we had to wait for about 15 minutes on the bus (in the heat, it seemed like an eternity, though they did park it in the shade). The PINK buses are few and far between. For every 1 PINK bus, we saw at least 5 RED buses. The RED buses are cleaner, nicer, and they always had room on board for passengers. All of the passengers we spoke to who were on the RED bus system were very happy with it. If you want a tour (which, if executed properly, would be a GREAT thing), take the RED one. Completely horrible customer service. They left for a tour without us, after not picking up the phone, and then had the audacity to blame us (keep saying we were late, when In fact we were trying to call them well before the tour started). I see a few similar reviews of them leaving without paying customers and not refunding their money. I continue to write them and their emails/posts back are getting increasingly hostile - more evidence of the type of company Carrani runs. When you visit Italy please avoid them. If I could give this negative stars I would. I booked night tour thinking it would be great experience for my teenage children. First, the headsets to hear the guide did not work. Then the "tour" was essentially you can get off now and take a picture. The highlight of the evening however was when we were to be taken back to hotel. The manager told us to get off one bus and on to another. The driver of that bus said no get back on the bus you came from. My husband and children and I stood in the street while the drivers got in a verbal altercation. They both then got back on to their buses and left us in the street. The tour guide looked at us and said there's nothing I can do. The driver finally let us back on bus but dropped us off 10 blocks from hotel where we walked to our hotel alone after midnight in a foreign country. Needless to say NEVER AGAIN! read more

Carrani tours contacted us, they probably found out email after we began our such for possible tours on tripadvisor/expedia. We were contacted by Mirella Fiore fro Carrani tours. Originally, we were thinking okay, lets have Carrani tours book all our tours, hotels etc. However, we decided to book these on our own as it gave us more flexibility with our timings and choice of hotels. We did ask Mirella to book our train transfers from city to city. This helped us immensely, as we did not know how the trains work in Italy and which ones are high-speed and which ones are regional. Carrani tours researched the train schedules and stations for us, and we just had to pay and then print out our tickets before leaving for Italy. This took out alot of quesswork on our part and helped make our visit to Italy very smooth. Most of the trains are comfortable and clean. You are able to purchase your tickets as you go at the individual train stations, but booking them ahead of time gave us peace of mind and structure to our schedules. read more

NO SHOW!! Terrible Customer Service WARNING!! DO NOT BOOK THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE A SCAM!! Wouldn't even give one star if I could. NEGATIVE 5 STARS!! We booked an airport transfer through Expedia from FCO (Italy) to our hotel in Rome city center. Our flight was delayed and I immediately tried to contact Carrani Tours to inform them of the changes. (They had my flight number and all flight details from my initial booking) The first number I called did not allow incoming calls coming from France and then I called the second number which was just a recording telling me to email - which I did. I told them the flight was delayed and the new arrival time. When we arrived in FCO we quickly grabbed our bags and rushed to the pickup area. Carrani Tours was nowhere to be found. I even asked several of the other shuttle drivers waiting if they knew where to find them and NO ONE had ever heard of this company before... not even airport staff. I tried calling again thinking that now that I was in Italy the call would go through - I was wrong. Still no answer and no reply email. We waited in the airport for over an hour and a half trying to figure out new transportation plans all while getting bullied from numerous taxi drivers. It was a terrible experience. Then next day I received an email from "Anastasia Lidyuk" at Carrani Tours that read "Dear customer, we received your email today,but yesterday our driver waited for you at the airport 1 h and half,but nobody show up at the meeting point, so we will consideri t as a no show, Regards,Anastasia" No apologies or anything! We exchanged a few emails but the she/company never admitted to fault or apologized for leaving my boyfriend and I stranded at a foreign airport at 1am. She blamed it all on me and said that I had the wrong pick up information - information that this company provided to me in the initial booking. I will never again use Carrani Tours and I will fully investigate every shuttle/tour I plan on booking from here on out. I strongly advise you to steer clear of them as well. Even if you pay a little more please go with ANY other company to save yourself time and headache!! read more

If I could give less than one star, I would. We were encouraged by our hotel to book your tour of the Vatican only to be very disappointed. Our tour group was way too big, leading to the group getting separated a lot. Because the group was so large, if we were ever at the back of the group, the audio headset would cut out and we could no longer hear our guide. When we could hear her, we could not understand a single word of what our tour guide was saying. Her English was not understandable and we ended up taking out the headset. In addition, when we got to the Sistine Chapel, half the group ended up getting left behind. We searched for the guide and we never even saw her come in the chapel. She didn't seem too concerned about finding the rest of her group and making sure we were all together, even though we all stayed close and looked for her for 20 minutes. The half of us that somehow got left finished the tour on our own and we all discussed how disappointed we were. The only reason my husband and I even stayed with the tour group was because we knew we would have to give our headsets back, but we never found her again to do so and had to go find the tour office on our own to return them. We also had to do St. Peter's Basilica on our own because she had left half of our group. I am very disappointed with my experience and can't believe how much money and time I wasted with this company. I would have rather waited in the 3 hour line to get into the museum and paid the 40 euro entrance fee (for my husband and I) and actually seen the exhibits and gotten my money's worth, than the 130 euro I paid for this terrible tour that showed me very few parts of the museum. I am requesting a refund for the terrible service we had. I wish I could give your our tour guide's name, but that was another thing she never gave to us. She was a nice lady, but if I am going to pay for an English tour, I want to hear from someone who is a native English speaker so I don't have to concentrate on figuring out what they are saying to me. read more

I have no idea where to start. It was our first visit to Rome and honestly this tour made our trip not the best. Starting with the first tour honestly I have nothing bad to say, we pay for this tour since the hotel we're staying recommended it (iQ Hotel Roma), honestly I think that is a bit expensive for the service they give. Our first tour was to Capri, our assistant guide (Rogelio) was excellent, super informative, friendly, he like to talk about the island, very interesting things. We were picked up at the hotel at 7am then they took us to the meeting point from there we went to Napoli where we take the ferry. At ferry station we met the guide, a super friendly Italian guy, he told us many interesting things about the island. We spent an hour in Ana Capri, where we take a break for lunch, the food was okay nothing woww, the people in the restaurant were a little poorly educated and rude. Anyways from there we went to Capri, an amazing place, where we spent one hour too. After we visited Capri Ana Capri and headed back to our hotel. Everything was good on the tour a bit expensive to only spend an hour in each island. So we decided after this tour to take another on Friday and visit POSITANO, which is where the nightmare begins. We opted for the tour of Positano and Amalfi Coast, which we pay 185 euros each. They did not pick us up at the hotel, but we are pretty close so we walked over there. We got to a small van and a small group 12 people, although the flyer said to 8 people, anyways All good so far,The assistant guide, who honestly do not remember your name, full rude, throughout the trip to Napoli not spoke to us. We arrived at Napoli and we joined the Guide, (other disrespectful & rude woman) while we got on the bus, the guide spoke things that were uninteresting, like about the chestnut tree for the rest of the trip, so annoying. As we go up to the mountain by those narrow roads, my husband realized that they talked a lot among them, not to us. At one point the guide says we are about to do one of our two stops, my husband thought it was odd and asked where we would stop and the guide answered " Ravello & Amalfi Coast " then my husband said "And Positano?" the guide replied that they had stones fell from the mountain, fire and you could not go to Positano, note that in the flyer that POSITANO was the main attraction. they knew since we arrived to Napoli what was happening on the mountain but chose not to tell us anything and take us to where they wanted to, A total disgrace!!! The guide was very very rude and disrespectful , a nightmare a disgusting customer service. They should consult or let us know what was going on in the mountains, not wait 4 hours to say something and it they had to tell us since my husband asked them. Keep in mind , what was happening in POSITANO start at 4 am, our tour was at 8 am. They never took responsibility for what was happening on the contrary they blame us the ones who pay the tour, and never get what we pay for. We had an awful moment, everyone was complaining and those two never say sorry or anything good to anyone. We arrived at the first stop, Ravello, a small town with nothing, 1 hour that town that was not on the list. Then they took us to Amalfi Coast, we got another hour at this place. I really thought it was odd, it was too early and the tour ended at 9 pm, and it was 3 pm at the moment between one thing and another we get on the van at 4:30 pm to go to Napoli. Everyone thought we were going to make an extra stop because we all pay for Positano,not for what we got. In the mountains they were much slower, made two stops to take pictures and the guide (Italian woman) all she talked about was the trees, who cares???? come on!!!!! Instead of taking us to Napoli we got off at Salerno, the guide left, without saying anything, without a simple apology, and leave us with the assistant (who was worst). It was already 5:30 pm, the assistant guide did not say anything, only he answered with attitude. She started walking without course, took us to a coast without saying anything. As we were going to ask her where she was taking us, she turns around and tells us with her best poker face, - We have one hour free in Salerno until our train to Rome, enjoy and do same shopping - WTF are you kidding me???? Salerno was not a cute place, at least where they dropped us it was not nice at all, so many drunk people, not nice at all. We discussed with her for a long time which she answered with attitude, We told her to change the train ticket, and she replied that the train ticket she pay it with her money, are you F kidding me? we pay for the ticket, for the train for all that not this awful guide. She keep talking so many nonsense, and also she keep arguing about this stop on Salerno, that it was on the flyer, and that was not true. after being 30 minutes arguing with her we had no choice but to follow her. The service is awful. There was a storm outside and they told us ( with 2 seniors and 5 children ) to step out in the rain as our tour was over. We got all wet and I got pneumonia and went to the hospital. My children had to travel all wet for four hours with the ac of the train. Carrani Tours and Viator totally misrepresented the tour I had been dreaming to take to the Amalfi Coast starting on Oct 2, 2016. I had been to Italy in the past but never had a chance to visit the Amalfi Coast and it was my dream to get there. I saw a tour posted on Viator for a "10 Night Amalfi Coast tour" and I booked it. Guess what? The tour did not include the Amalfi Coast. I feel so taken advantage of. I had called so many times prior to the trip and I was assured the tour covered the Amalfi Coast. Also, they would not send the Itinerary until a week prior to the trip and it did not arrive one week prior, as promised. I had to call and they finally sent the itinerary. I did not see the Amalfi Coast on the itinerary and I called again and they said not to worry, the final itinerary would be at the first hotel in Rome. I called Viator and they said Sorrento is the Amalfi Coast, which we all know it is not the Amalfi Coast. No one really cares when you call. It is a call center for Viator and Carrani just keeps assuring you all will go well, so it is easy to believe them. Such a bad misrepresentation of this trip.
