So here is a pathetic story about a do-gooder and a do-nothing…read more There once were two school traffic No student drop off here" signs. One sign at the Crockett High School and the other across the street at the Crockett Middle School. Both signs had graffiti on them for months if not years. A local do-gooder who was annoyed that tax payer property wasn't being maintained and was unsightly, called the Maintenance Department at the School District to speak with them about removing the blight. The call was a Useless waste of time. The phone call went directly to voicemail and the voicemail box was too full to leave a message. So next, the persistent do-gooder found the number of what looked to be the Head Honcho of the School District and left him a voicemail about the blight. Wow. The do gooder was so excited and impressed that the Head Honcho public employee returned the do-gooder's call right away. The Head Honcho said he would have the graffiti taken care of ASAP (with the caveat that his staff was busy and it might take a few days to get to it.) The do- gooder was so happy with the diligence of the Head Honcho public employee. "Public employees too often get the bad rap of being overpaid, inefficient or lazy, but not any more" thought the smiling do-gooder. Oh No! Another Useless waste of time. The Head Honcho was actually a wiley do-nothing and the signs went untouched for months. As all do-gooders know, left alone graffiti only invites more graffiti. So what did the do-gooder do? The do-gooder wiped the tears of disappointment from his eyes, stood up tall with fortitude and took care of the problem himself. The moral of this pathetic story? If you want something done, find a do-gooder and not a do-nothing.

Carla was incredibly professional and responsive from the very start. She answered all my questions and provided detailed information right away, making the entire setup process smooth and stress-free. The tutoring sessions are held via Zoom, and Carla (or sometimes one of her team members) works one-on-one with your student, accommodating your child's schedule. What really stood out to me is how much care they put into understanding what your child needs. The approach is highly personalized, with a clear goal of setting students up for long-term success. It's also very clear that Carla is passionate about what she does--and based on both my experience and the many other glowing reviews, she's also truly excellent at it. My only regret is not finding this service sooner. Bottom line, highly recommended.

Because I was uneasy paying up front for all 3 lessons, Lindsey said I could pay for each lesson by check at the time of my appointment. This sounded great. Bill ended up being my child's driving instructor for the first lesson. Like other people have said, he did have his hand on the steering wheel most of the time, not allowing my child to have their own control. I thought this was weird, but honestly, I just needed the lesson for dmv purposes. Fast forward to several months later and I try to book the last 2 lessons. Because it's a new year now, the male on the phone said the price had gone up. I understand. The price went up. But I already had made a pre existing agreement with Lindsey, so my initial quoted prices should be locked in and honored. I already had the first lesson. The male on the phone was very insistent that even though I had spoken with Lindsey on pricing, I still have to pay the new increased price. Now how is this fair? I'm still waiting to hear back from him...so we shall see how great of a company they are....or how money hungry they really are.

My daughter just finished her second lesson with Shelley. What I really liked about this school:…read more 1) They encourage the parent to go along on the drive so you can learn how to instruct your child and be consistent with what the instructor is emphasizing. 2) There was no down time sitting in the car listening to the instructor. The two hour driving lesson was spent with my child driving - that's what I paid for! 3) The lessons have been challenging. I can do the easy stuff with my child; I want the two hour lesson to bring her to the next level. Shelley had her practice what she would need to know for the test and also what she would need to know for real driving (freeway lane changes, merging, narrow mountain road, etc.). 4) I also liked that I paid per lesson and didn't get hooked into three lessons from the beginning. Yes. we will do all three lessons with Shelley, but if the first lesson hadn't gone well then we didn't have any commitment. 5) My daughter's review "Ms. Shelley is a hoot. No really, she's a good teacher." Before the first lesson, my daughter was very scared. She even asked if she could cancel it. Shelley put her in the driver seat quickly, so she didn't have time to increase her anxiety. Shelley stayed calm and gave her confidence pointing out how well she was doing. And like I said, Shelley made it challenging (from Danville drove South Gate to North Gate roads then down Ygnacio through Walnut Creek) so that no matter where I took her during our practice in between lessons I could just refer back to her lesson and say this isn't as hard as what you did on your lesson.

I hadn't touched a piano for 20+ years and was asked to play for our church for when the pianist was gone. I was classically trained from 1st to 6th grade. I had to relearn by myself but really wanted to refresh and learn some things I didn't know before and get retaught. Our pastor at the time suggested Phil. Although we did zoom, and I know if it was in person it would have been a lot better, Phil made it work. He had top-notch experience with the technology since COVID made everyone go virtually. The lessons were phenomenal. My lessons were focused on gospel and church music but I learned things like octave-chord, relearning scales (I needed this desperately), playing by ear and my FAVORITE improvisation. I didn't think you can "learn" or "teach" improv but Phil did. He even stated that he wished he recorded our lesson. Although our lessons were limited (just the summer every week), I still utilize everything he has taught me. I am regularly playing the piano now for our church for 3 services a week. It has been an incredible improvement and a lot of it is thanks to Phil. Seek him out and he'll teach you more than you would ever expect. If he does this for adults-- I know for a FACT he can do this with kids.
