I had carpet installed last week. From start to finish it was about 10 days. My carpets looks and feels great. After seeing the men work, I was suprised to come home and see that it looked like carpet fairies had been there. After having my foundation leveled, the floor in the kitchen and hallway still needed leveling, but from the inside of the house. Tim assured me that his crew could do whatever needed to be done to make it as level as possible, and they did not disappoint. They were super great! The tile in the kitchen, hallway and main bathroom looked so good, that I had them re tile the shower and floor in my second bath, which looks so good, that I've decided to remodel the entire bathroom. Tim Shanahan and his team were amazing from the start! Tim was a referral from my realtor, and he personally took time to see two homes I was considering for a pretty major remodeling project. Ultimately when I decided on the final house I bought, Tim very quickly helped me select the perfect wood flooring for most of my home, in addition to great economical tile that instantly upgraded the look of my guest bathrooms. Everything was received within a week, and all my flooring was installed in totality (including demo of prior flooring) in less than 2 total weeks. These guys are extremely easy to work with--local positive attitude, exemplary customer service throughout your engagement, and a very simple showroom, where you can take your time to pick the right selections for your home. Tim even followed up with me while on vacation to ensure his general contractor was on track with the job and to keep me informed of status. Tim referred me to a preferred general contractor, Noe Lopez, who is one of his installers, but also an amazing end to end construction / remodeling specialist--Noe took complete control of my entire remodel project, which involved transforming a 14 year old 3100 square foot home into a present day model home in all respects. I can't say enough amazing things about Tim, his company, and his willingness to refer me to quality individuals to complete the remaining pieces of my project--Tim demonstrated amazing customer service from the initial email response all the way to the completed project. I definitely recommend Carpets by Conrad! We have used them twice now, in two different houses, and have been happy both times. First, they installed wood laminate floors in our old house, which we know had something to do with helping it sell in about two hours! Then, we were on an incredibly tight schedule after we closed on our new house--we had one week to get a couple major projects done. Tim worked around our timeframe that we needed, down to the specific day and time we needed them to get in to install new carpet in our daughter's bedrooms. The crew showed up and worked around the mess of the other contractors to get the job done quickly and beautifully. In 2009 we had laminate installed in the living and dining rooms and a few months ago new berber carpet in three bedrooms. Both jobs were complete in one day and the laminate still looks beautiful after 3 years. The new berber looks and feels great and I've had some comment on how thick the pad must be. Carpets by Conrad was a life saver. I was in a horrible bind as I had already committed to have carpet installed by another carpet company the week prior and they did not full fill their commitment as originally had scheduled as I continued to get the run around from them. I then called Carpets by Conrad and spoke to Mike Brodlowicz. I told him what I needed and where I needed the carpet installed. He then roughly estimated the size of my home but told me it would be a lot better if he could come and measure. I then told him I would go by his place and check out the carpet he was quoting me on. When I got there about 10 min later, He greeted me and showed me the carpet and the padding as well as some other carpets. He then followed me to my home as I was very hesitate at first because we had move everything from upstairs to downstairs and my house had been in a disarray for a few weeks as we had prepared for the carpet install. He was totally fine, came in measure the areas we sat at the table to get figures and he ended up saving me money and gave me a better deal then the other thugs that left me hanging. I agreed, signed the contract and within 30 min of him leaving my home he had already called me and said he would have his guys at my place 1st thing in the morning by 10am. Sure enough by 9:30am 2 guys came in and started taking out the old carpet and installed the new. By 2:30 pm they had finished and even helped put all my furniture back where it belonged. This business--Carpets by Canrad and Fashion Floors are owned by the same people--was recommended to me and I was impressed by the sales call, the measuring and estimate. (When the estimate was put into writing it was raised a bit.) The business was billed as "locally owned" and "customer centered" and "intending to satisfy customers and be in business a long time". I liked that and chose a tile that had the potential to make a beautiful floor. The person at Fashion Floors who took my down payment of 50% was doing three things at a time. She said the tile design I chose was a popular one. It was a pattern that potentially made a beautiful floor. I figured they knew how it should be laid since they sold lots of it, but it was laid in what was called "random" pattern. It turns out, however, that they thought "random" meant carelessly, thoughtlessly, blindly, stupidly, indifferently or with least effort possible--whatever--totally oblivious to the potential for a really beautiful floor. The sales person I was impressed with was part owner--when I expressed my disappointment, he said to me that he didn't have time to look into every job, that he "was a busy man." He was so defensive that we never got past one thing of three that I was going to give him feedback on. I admit I was upset and speaking more strongly than I ordinarily would but he became so aggressive I had to hang up on him because he was shouting me down and because I did not wish to be spoken to like that. I emailed the rest of what I had to say. He responded "point by point" in the same defensive way, saying why he was right and I was wrong on every point. This is not what I call customer centered business. He underordered tile and the finishing the job was delayed over the weekend. (He mentioned more expensive glue they needed to use and the cost of the extra tile and that my insurance would cover that as part of the claim. (I figure that's none of there business.) In the end I was a little scared and certainly had a blood pressure problem around this, so just sent the balance owed per the estimate. I got a technically competent but totally ordinary floor and a lot ot grief. I don't recommend this business. read more
