Carpeteria was first on our list-we got keys today for the 3-story home we just bought. We need all new flooring. There was no one in the parking lot and when all is said and done there weren't customers inside. Only us. One side of door was locked so we truly thought it was closed for a moment. Maybe others did the same. No one around; door locked. We could hear a lady but couldn't see her. We looked at hard flooring for a bit. No one greeted us. Be careful picking up the samples, not all are smooth on the sides and when I replaced it, the wood slid down scraping my finger. No damage but it still hurts a little 20 minutes later. We walked to the carpet samples and saw an office where the lady, now we realize she's talking and laughing on the phone. Still no greeting. We looked through the samples a while longer, then checked out the remnants, joking how nice it would be to find something we loved. We could see an older gentleman in the warehouse struggling with a roll of something. No greeting. We get it, he's definitely busy and has his hands full. We next go around the entire store, walking over all the floor samples. And I do mean all. This is the part I like in the store. They get a star for cleverly using not only different types and colors on the actual floor, but they also will have random 4 or so "tiles" of different colors to see inside the sample section. I'm bored now and the prices didn't look great. I suggested going to a place we can ask questions. He agreed. No greeting even as we left. She was still having a phone conversation, and we weren't hearing business in her talking but we could be wrong. read more

After too many years, we took the plunge and decided to re-carpet our entire house. We compared 3 vendors and ultimately chose Carpeteria, mainly because they were local and had been in business for many years. All of the vendors offered pretty much the same products and were competitive on their bids, but Carpeteria worked with us a little on the price and estimated they'd be able to complete the job quickest. Overall, I can't give them more than an average rating. There were mistakes in the carpet estimating, delays in the carpet shipping, complications on scheduling installation, misinformation on timing and crews. The project was finally completed but we were VERY disappointed in the upstairs carpet and that was crushing after spending many thousands of dollars, clearing the entire house, waiting for the carpet and finallly having the Voila' moment - UGH. No one to blame except ourselves, I guess, but I feel like there should have been some discussion about the fact that the carpet shows every footprint and mark. Since my husband uses a walker (which they knew), the upstairs looks like a racetrack. Buyer beware - unless you're knokwledgable and experienced in choosing carpet, don't expect to get help at Carpeteria. read more

I am SO disappointed in this place We had a great customer t experience until after the carpet was installed. Our carpet is less than a year old and is "bubbling" and loose in many places and when we called to have them come fix it, PER THEIR WARRANTY; they never called or made an appointment with me to come back, I called 5 different times and each time got "Oh okay, I'll have the installers call to schedule you..." Never happened. So disappointed because the gentleman who helped us pick out and purchased the carpet was so nice but I have not been able to even speak to him since either. I should of known from my first time just thought I would give them another chance. I have my receipt of what I paid and he was telling me that is not right... funny man NOT! I feel like we just came through the Twilight Zone. Walked into the store, found a carpet we really liked. Approached the salesman or owner and asked a technical question about what the "R" factor was. I needed this for the radiant heating system we are installing. The gentleman lied to me and said the manufacturers don't supply this info. I know that they do because I have had salesman at other locations get it for me. I asked if he would make that call for us and try. He said no and then took the carpet sample from my hand, put it back on the rack and turned his back to us. We were polite the entire time. We were stunned on the horrible customer service. It's a shame, we were repeat customers as I have done two different homes with this business. Never again. We ordered one sku that was expensive. The owner made a big deal out of what a great price we were getting. We had a certain amount of time that we had to get the carpet installed. When the carpet was installed it was not the one we ordered. (It was the exact color I didn't want) when I ask him about it he said he told us it would look different when installed. The installer used the old door plates. Totally missed the carpet nailed behind the door. Also there were many beer bottles in my trash can. Don't buy here if you don't want to be ripped off. We order a 5 digit sku. Got a 3 digit sku. Not even close. read more

Wrote to another Carpeteria store and found out that each store is owned and operated separately. Carpatiera the corporation went bankrupt in the early 2000's and Carpatiera is just a name or it could be listed under John Doe, but kept the Carpatiera name to entice customers. This particular owner could care less about repeat customers. His only objective is his bank account, not your house, your home, your business or anything that you purchase from him. His only goal is to increase his net worth and to decrease yours. A word to the wise, do not do business with Reno Nevada Carpeteria. read more

The worst experience. We have quite a few rentals and hired them to do a couple. It has been a nightmare. They would not come to measure until the old linoleum and carpet was removed due to the condition of the unit. Then when the install took place their installers did not come with the supplies. When I had to pick the supplies and was clearly not happy about it the Pat accused me of being a racist. Instead of the obvious, which was that his installers came to an install unprepared. We've used a lot of carpet companies and never had to provide supplies. It's included in the price. They did not finish and we have a toilet in the bathtub and no coving in the kitchen and bathroom. It has been the worst experience. Go to Home Depot. I used them for a condo I'm selling and it has been the easiest experience of my life. Looks perfect and the installers are amazing. Worst company I have ever done business! Cam is a very poor sales person once she gets your purchase. Had issues with the installers that Carpeteria uses and she was no help to get the corrections taken care of, said we had to deal directly with the installer, MAC Flooring and Design, whom we had no choice of the selection. They swore they'd get my carpet and linoleum done with me arriving in Reno on a Monday and leaving on Friday morning so I could see the job completed. After reading other reviews I see no reason to continue. But will. He backed out then came back with ideas and gave us installers that caused us not to leave Reno til Saturday. They didn't odor coat the entire floor. Said they used all the paint then we found half can unused. Were to reset the toilets but left them with all the bolts loose. Head installer most he'd say is give me the money. Owner of Carpeteria tells everyone that he's not charging taxes. State should check this out. read more

They cheated with me and did a terrible job. They had me buy more materials than I needed after the estimates they provided and demanded I should pay for the extra materials. In the end I had more than one room materials left over. The installers took off after doing the house half way. Few days later they sent one young guy to finish the job. Worst business, service during purchase and selection of product employee helped and service was great...until we purchased product, carpet arrived wrong color instead of gray it is bluish, carpet was switched out by store, installer was prejudice, rude, unprofessional, he Alex was very rude yelling and cussing at me and my son we told him to leave, they allowed removed carpet and vinyl sit on my deck for over a month with snow on it, installer Alex refused to haul off old flooring, carpet has stains, vinyl has hole they tried to blame on appliance installers who were not in that area, it took a week to install flooring if it had been finished in 3 days as originally agreed upon appliance installers would not have been here, there are glue spots very visible on vinyl seams, paint was rubbed off walls during installation, Alex would not speak to us had to use his helper as a go between, we removed all flooring ourselves Carpeteria owner refused discount on labor we were promised by salesperson who physically came to our house and inspected before installers arrived, this is not Carpeteria of the old days, will never use this business again, if you want to be talked down to, deal with rudeness, changing agreed upon terms, switching out carpet, racism then this is the business to use. My suggestion is to never use this business, there is no corporate help, individually owned, they do not stand behind their service, products, agreements. I have used Carpetieria twice this year for my home. They are fast, professional and they do quality work. Their prices will likely beat any other carpet installers in town and they even do special jobs and can order pretty much any color of carpet you can imagine. The first job they did for us back in May was really tough (they had to install carpet around a pool table) and it still looks like they just finished yesterday. Although we did not end up purchasing from carpeteria so I cannot comment on the product, their prices are high and they lead you to products you don't really want. We were in the market for carpet and hardwood flooring when we walked in the door. Of all the carpet in the store we were guided back to a corner where they had "exactly what your looking for" according to the sales person. The carpet was okay at best and not really what we wanted, they gave us samples to take home to see how they looked in our home which is nice. When I asked about other carpets we were pulled back in to their preferred carpet. Their installation prices are really weird in that if you want it to be cheaper they won't warranty it but the same guys do it. Sounds greedy to me.. When it came time for hardwoods, why would you want hardwood when you can get laminate and it's just as good is what I was told. Well it's not and we don't want that. Engineered is the way to go was their next line. We purchased our HARDWOOD floors from a great local place on Freeport in Sparks. If you want to make sure you get what you want, go across the street, you'll be happy you did and get the service you deserve. read more

I'm giving an update on carpeteria because they deserve one, First of all their installation with laminate flooring is shady. Rather than buying the floor and paying for the installation in one big package, they insist on having the jobs paid for separately. The store takes a debit card, and the installer insist on a personal check. Secondly the installer after I called the shop and complained showed up an hour later and installed less than a quarter of the floor, leaving with three quarters of bare floor for my white dog to get dirty on. He told me that he had a doctor's appointment the following day and could not return so I had to go an entire day with a quarter of the installation. When the installer did the tear out, I insisted that my furniture be place out on my back deck so that it would not get dusty while the installer did the tear out. He insisted that things would be fine so I went with what he had to say. Low and behold I now have an inch of dust all over my furniture. My kitchen has four generations of linoleum on the floor. rather than remove the linoleum, he lied to me and told me that the reason he would not remove the flooring is that it had asbestos in the flooring and that he is not qualified to remove such flooring. After bringing in a third party I found that he would rather do a half ass job than a good job which speaks volumes about how much carpeteria cares about their customer. So all I have to say is do not do business with carpeteria. They are overpriced and they are shady about their installation. You would be better off going to home depot and getting one of their subcontractors, or going to a more expensive flooring company. read more

We tried to go with a well established company instead of one of the big home building suppliers to get the most professional treatment we could get. Huge mistake choosing Carpeteria. First they were expensive. After looking at several samples the salesman moved me to a carpet I now suspect they must get a great deal on and sold it to us for a mid range price. They came out and mismeasured the job and were only able to lay half the job and had to come back after I moved in. They did not clean or at least vacuume the carpet. NeverNever again. We had a very expensive high-end Berber carpet installed in our 2400+ sq ft home. Installation wasn't professional and carpet didn't adhere to the stairs and other heavy traffic areas. This was fixed, as we only paid 50% up front. However, less than 1 year later, carpet has pulled out in multiple areas and hasn't lived up to what we thought we purchased. We have called many times, and since no one has voicemail or email we haven't been able to get issues resolved. read more

I have to say I was really disappointed with the customer service my fiancé and I received here. The lady who greeted us seemed perturbed we even came through the door, and the gentleman who answered a few questions we had seems disinterested, or like he had better things to do. We originally came to Carpeteria, because we like to support local businesses and overall we had heard fairly good things from other people who have shopped here. I'm not sure if we caught them on an "off-day", or perhaps they were enjoying a quiet afternoon, and we interrupted? My experience here was very strange. The salesman, John I believe, was very pushy and followed me around the whole store. He kept trying to sell me something I didn't want. I picked the laminate I liked and asked if we could get the house measured for an estimate. He said they wouldn't actually measure anything until we signed the contract but he could give us an estimate if I measured the square footage myself. I told him what it was and he wrote a number on a post-it note and gave it to me. When I asked him about the installers, he said he had 2 crews. One that charged $2 a sq. ft. and the other one that charges 1.50 a sq. ft. He said for my house, the cheaper crew would be fine. What does that mean?? Then he said that they'd put my baseboards back but wouldn't paint them and if they broke my baseboards, I'd have to pay for new ones. Since my experience was so strange, I decided against this place. read more
