Dario was easy to schedule an appointment with and when he came out to my home, he was efficient in taking measurements and gave me some very helpful tips on selecting the right replacement carpets. From the time I had made my selection, it was just a couple weeks before the installation crew was in my home. They were friendly, professional and fast ! 3 rooms carpet removed and new carpets were installed in just under half a day. Total came changer for these rooms and now they are a delight to be in. In the end my laminate flooring was installed well so I can't complain too much, but the process was less than ideal. I was looking for a particular type of laminate that had been installed by the previous owner in the living room to expand to the bedrooms. So there were a few options in the area that carried this particular style and color. I called a few places to get quotes. Carpeteria was the cheapest and fastest. I went in and met with Jim. He scheduled a time to come visit and measure to be sure that the square footage was correct. Jim measured and gave us a final estimate. The next day he calls me and asks me if the baseboards need to be removed. I say I don't know. I know nothing about laminate installation. So shame on me, I guess, for not being an expert in the process I'm paying someone else to do. I research online and i think we do need the baseboards removed. So I call Jim back and ask how much it will cost extra. Extra $400. I'm not pleased. Jim apologized for not bringing it up when he came to measure. But at this point I've given a deposit and I just want to get it done so we can move into the house. The day of installation was fine. The guys called me on their way. I let them in and went to work. They called me when they were wrapping up. Nice guys. No complaints there. They were pretty quick they worked from 9-3ish. The floors were installed beautifully but they left a very dirty work area and two small holes in the walls (since door stops were removed I guess they weren't careful about the door opening all the way into the wall). We can patch and repaint them but it's unfortunate. Not even an apology. Overall the work got done quickly and well done. But the holes in the walls were a bummer. I'm giving them 3 stars because they did do a good job with the installation and their pricing is competitive. read more

I can't recommend Carpeteria Flooring Centers enough. We walked into their showroom and were immediately greeted by Dario. He listened to our needs and helped us pick out a beautiful, pet friendly carpet. We have a craftsman home with difficult angles to measure but Dario worked hard to get perfect measurements. The interesting thing about Carpeteria is that their installers work directly for the company. They aren't hired contractors. The installers were courteous and did a beautiful job. I am looking for Eng Harwood Floors. Showed up at this place. A lady (i guess her name is Pfo or Fo) shows up. I started asking a very basic question. "do you have any hardwood floors with min 3mm wear thickness". I pointed out to Hickory product and asked about it. She goes "do u like this, i can run some numbers". I told her show me boards with min 3mm wear thickness. she has no clue and on top of that says that I have to go through each board and figure it out. When I said that doesnt make sense, she says that it typically take almost a day to get what we want. You guys have to understand something, this is Online shopping era. If you do not make an effort to train ur staff or organize ur stuff, your future is gloomy. such a waste of my time read more

Imagine trying to order carpet from NYC to our home (now a rental) in Lafayette and have it ready for pick up in just three days. That was our dilemma when we found a glimmer of hope in Carpeteria and especially Dario. I gave him the dimensions of the two rooms we needed carpeted. We had our own installer lined up (a friend) who would pick the carpet up. Dario helped me with carpet selection and padding. I explained this was now a short-term rental property and we were on a budget. Not a problem as far as Dario was concerned. We wanted something beige-ish. Realizing that beige is one of the most non-descript terms known to humanity Dario went to the warehouse and took pictures of several rolls of carpet and texted them to me. More importantly, given the dimensions of the rooms to be carpeted he suggested something off the remnant supply to help save us money. Long story short, Dario helped us choose the right carpet for our needs. And it looks great. Thank you Dario! That said, Carpeteria needs to change their policy about accepting credit card payments for out of state customers. It was a laborious and frustrating experience. Skip this place. Perhaps I should start off by saying that Tony is the hardwood floor guy here. He seems knowledgeable, experienced, and all around good.... So he comes over and measures, writes up an estimate and it seems to be good to go. We lay out a time line of a week and boom, hardwood floors in the new house. I place the deposit and leave, looking forward to a new floor in a week. Perfect. What I got instead was the workers mess. Dust everywhere, globs and GLOBS of stain on my baseboards and paint, scratched doors, dirty doorknobs, and effed up GASHED baseboards. Now, I'm not typically one to gripe about such things but 1)being freshly painted and 2) expecting a clean job, I now had to repaint almost all the doors, dust and mop for the worker, and throw his trash away. OH YEAH, he left spikes and wood and pieces of rubbish in my garbage, a pan of paint thinner and a pan of stain in my garage.... I immediately called Carpeteria and got someone to come out, we both documented the damage, but before I knew it Carpeteria has quickly charged my credit card with not only the rest of the due amount before I could negotiate damages, but never required a signature. I'm sure the credit card company would love to dispute that :/. To be honest, I would have been happy to discuss the terms a little after and pay full price, however, a company charging immediately after complaint so as to complicate issues deserves to not have business. YEAH, so a "manager" came over and put the thinner outside instead of in the garage, and he took pictures, but at no time was there even a slight apology to the sloppy work done by whoever they contracted for the job. There was also no confirmation of of final price (the overcharged me also $50), and still I had to refinish and repaint all my doors to cover up for the sloppy, unskilled work done. If I could do it all over again I would have shopped around a little more... Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for your floors. Yes the work was satisfactory on the floor, but the service and follow through wasn't there, and the follow up and charging after was shady... Skip this place read more

I chose Carpeteria in San Leandro for their reputation and competitive price and they far exceeded my expectations! Their price was the most competitive after I had two other major competitors come out to my house. Les was here measuring and giving great advice while I was still having to beg to get the others out here within my time frame. The product I picked, (Mohawk Luxury Vinyl Plank) is absolutely beautiful, looks exactly like real wood, but affordable and will not swell with spills or pet accidents! The installers were professional and skilled. Bernabe, Memo, Geraldo and Leo worked very hard in order to get the job done quickly, but correctly.(I had time constraints) were courteous and careful with the door not to let pets out, and answered all my questions which are definitely excessive! Despite the installers being so skilled, they installed the wrong baseboard because that's what was on the order, (an accident) it ended up looking extremely ugly. I was very concerned because we have all heard stories about jobs not going right and the consumer ending up biting the bullet. I contacted Carpeteria the next morning. Lindsey, got me right over to Gary the installation manager. I explained why I was unhappy, and that I absolutely needed the work done right away so that I could put the furniture back that day for personal reasons. Within two hours he had a new crew at my house who completely ripped out all of the baseboards, painted and replaced the correct size, working carefully inside, (over the new floors) to paint, as it was raining. The new crew was Alfonso and Alfonso Jr, who were equally as amazing as the first crew. I learned these guys have all worked for Carpeteria for over 20 years, are highly experienced and reliable. Les had told me he commutes quite a distance so that he can continue to work for Carpeteria, and doesn't want to work for anybody else, and now I understand why. As a salesman if you don't have a team that backs you up, his reputation would have taken the hit. Each step of the way every Carpeteria employee did an outstanding job which is what makes them so great! Mistakes can happen but how they are handled is what makes the difference in the end. I was very impressed when I first walked in so many selections, and not the Walmart special stuff either. These guys have patterns you can't even imagine. With reasonable prices. We spoke with Jim Miller who was more than helpful in explaining both style and quality. This is by far the best place we looked at and we asked a lot of questions and they were all answered. We contacted Carpeteria who made a 4PM appointment with us to measure for carpet. Estimator arrived at 4:20, no apology for being late, and actually was very abrupt in his manner. We got the feeling when he was done, 10 minutes later, his estimate was going to come in high, it felt like he was doing us a favor giving us an estimate. He called the next day, estimate was $6K (for one room and 12 wrapped stairs) which was double the price of everyone else. Am leaving this review as we got the impression they really didn't want the business. When I told him that was double of everyone else, he was like oh well that's our price. The sales guy who helped us was awesome - Lee. He bent over backwards to accommodate us and make the sale happen - so five stars to him. The product wasn't everything we hoped it would be. Or maybe it was the installation, I'm not sure. The product had a slight pattern to it, and when it was laid, the guys didn't align it exactly so I notice it every time I walk into my living room. I called them to have them fix it, and they said it was normal. I also mentioned that the seams were extremely noticeable and was told that they would lay flat with time. It's been almost 6 months and the seams are still incredibly noticeable. Not sure how long I have to wait. 2 stars to the product. read more

Thanks to Tony Balian's leadership the crew did a SUPER job for us and kept the mess at a minimum. They also took out living room carpet and installed a beautiful new "Smart Strand" carpet. Changing carpet after many years is always a little stressful especially with all the color selections, fabrics and manufacturers. After walking into Carpeteria and meeting with Cappi, I felt less nervous and even got a little excited. Cappi was very personable, knowledgeable and was not pushy at all. She even suggested going home and sleeping on it, which I did. I came back the next day and we started the paperwork. Cappi was very supportive through all phases of the installation and handled many scheduling changes due to my crazy schedule. The installers were right on time and knew what they were doing. They were very careful with my furniture and put everything back where it belonged. Cappi even asked me to send her a picture of the carpet after it was installed. My husband and I came in to pick out new laminate flooring for one of our bedrooms. Walked around with choice in hand for a good 20 minutes without any acknowledgment of our presence. There were a bunch of people in the back shooting the breeze and the only man working with another customer wasn't even willing to let us know someone would be with us shortly....not even a hello. We had a lot of questions about pricing and we were even interested in possibly choosing bamboo flooring. We chose to look at carpeteria because they've been around for a while. I went there to Carpeteria in San Leandro and was helped by a salesman named Jim Miller. I found a Tuflex carpet that I really liked but it was out of my budget. I discussed with Jim my budget and the fact that I had signed an agreement for a carpet install with their competitor. Jim showed me other carpet but I left the showroom thinking either I had to increase my budget or go with my current install. The next day was Mother's Day and I called Jim to tell him that I really liked that carpet and could there be any deal that can be worked. Jim said he would call me back. He called me back to say he had approval from the assistant manager for the carpet I wanted installed in my home. A wonderful lady was in the showroom to write up the deal and take my deposit. I was pass ecstatic because I had the carpet I wanted for my home. Everything was going fine. Jim came on Friday, May 13th to take the measurements and confirmed that the install will occur on 5/27. Well, here's where everything goes downhill. That Monday, I received a call from Jim saying his manager, Gary Simpson, did not approve the carpet deal. In fact, Gary wanted to see my order from the other company if there was any chance of him honoring this deal. I got the information and yes stupidly sent Gary the information. Gary called me around 20 minutes later to say he couldn't do this deal, he wouldn't make any money and it wasn't going to happen. I was passed devastated and confused and felt totally victimized as the consumer, shouldn't as a part of "good customer service" Carpeteria at least try to retain my business, and why is this manager being so abrupt and rude. So, it seemed the only option I had was to request a refund which Gary was very happy to approve. Now, I've owned a home in Fremont for 16 years and dealt with a number of small to large businesses attempting to have repairs and upgrades done on my home, but I have never encountered a company that flat out did not want your money. Gary Simpson at Carpeteria is the top manager there. I found him condescending, rude, and lacked any customer service skills. Jim Miller who's there top salesman still work there even though he's the one that strung me along for 2 weeks that there were no issues. In looking thru the Yelp comments and some consumers having the same issues with this particular Carpeteria I've come to the conclusion that they are crooks and the owner of Carpeteria doesn't care about these crooks he employs because he allows them to keep demeaning his customers. I will be sending this to the Diamond Certified, Angie's List, 7 on your Side to expose these people once and for all. Maybe the owner, Sam Gulesserian will finally clean house! I went to Carpeteria looking for new floor and ended up working with Lee. He spent a great deal of time with me as I searched for something that could withstand another flood, if needed. Finally, after A LOT of thought, I settled on Drop and Done flooring, and with Lee's recommendation, which was accurate, I was able to install this floor myself (with the help of a loved one :) All in all he was great... With just one glitch. He had quoted me a price on the floor (actually twice, I had confirmed it with him) and then when he went to charge my credit card, he quoted me a higher price and was quite surprised when I reminded him of the price he initially gave me. He agreed to honor this price although seemed somewhat baffled why had had given me such a good deal (it had been some time as I hemmed and hawed about selecting this particular flooring). It left a sour taste in my mouth, but it's mellowing with time. If you can, get your quote in writing as it seems like what comes out of your wallet is based on the deal they're willing to give you. Overall, after TONS of research, I love this floor and I think this place has great products and the sales people are knowledgeable. This place is amazing, they were able to fix a carpet disaster caused by our lovely black lab puppy. They matched the carpet perfectly and patched it without it even looking like ANYTHING had ever happened. My wife and I just had the best experience with Jim Miller and this store. To start, I should say that we HAD been repeat customers of another large carpet and flooring company. Their service was awful. Out of frustration, my wife asked me if I knew of any over carpet stores and I remembered Carpeteria and their commercials as a kid in the Bay Area. Boy, was I glad that I remembered them! From the moment we started talking to Jim, I knew we were in good hands. After talking to us on the phone a couple of times, we went to the store to pick a carpet. That is when we also met Gary was is extremely knowledgeable and help. Jim then came out and took measurements. We had a very tight window to get the room done and they were also very responsive to our needs in that area as well. The carpet was installed beautifully and on time. I believe the installer,s name was Memo. After he was done, he cleaned up the site completely. I went to Carpeteria San Leandro and met with Jim Miller on 10/7. I gave him my estimated sq. footage of the carpet I wanted installed and he said he would give me a good deal and I received an estimated quote with a split of the minimum installation cost for a total $573 - so I gave him my $300 deposit. When he came to my house to measure he said they needed 50 more sq. ft. of carpet so the cost would be $900! I said that doesn't make sense. It should be somewhere around $753 not $900. So I went into the store again the next day and Jim then said I will make you a deal - $650. So I said OK. Later that day his manager Gary Simpson called me to say he wanted $1,000 for the job. He said it wasn't worth his while for such a small job and his men would be all day at my house. This for just a hallway! Then he said the minimum installation cost was $300. I have since gone into the store to ask for my $300 deposit back which was signed by the owner Alex while I was in the store. It is now 2 days later 10/21 and they still haven't processed the refund. I just told Jim Miller the whole experience has been quite disagreeable and he was silent. I believe 7 on your Side should look into this location as I am not the first person who has been involved in this bait and switch. Other stores I have gone into are upfront with their prices - it is just unfortunate that this was the first store I went into. read more

Just came in to shop around and see what their options on strand bamboo were. I came in, and asked the gentleman at the desk if he had any bamboo products. He responded in a stand-off-ish manner that 'no', he did not had any in stock. I meant generally, to order. He showed me what they had... very limited options. They only had engineered and not any solid options and very limited color options, I asked about some prices-- they had a piece of paper that indicated the prices. I wanted to take a picture, to remember the prices and keep shopping around and compare. Mainly because I am trying to support small local businesses rather than big store shops. And I need to keep track of the prices I encounter. Well... the gentleman did not allowed me to take a picture of prices, telling me that it could end up in 'wrong hands' and that he didn't want the prices out there. Not sure 'where' they could have ended that it's so much of concern-- but I guess I look sketchy(?). After that he mention, "I guess we won't be able to help you today". Ok. Just from the shopping around I've done for bamboo, I'll tell you their prices ARE DOUBLE of what I've found around at other small local family owned shops- FOR THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT/BRAND. The service wasn't at all the nicest, and while I didn't purchase any product I will tell you this much: I will not be coming back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
