Although it was slow we were pleased with the finished result. We had more carpeting planned this year and returned to them again, but have been exertemely disappointed with the length of time (4months since paying in full- which is when the carpets have arrrived in the shop) to get carpets fitted as well as additional hidden payments (for plying floor prior to carpets being laid) added on at the last despite 5 visits by shop staff and fitters before agreeing quote. Would not recommend or use again.

Planned to do most of our new house using first floors, but later decided not to put all our eggs in one basket and see how they did with just kitchen and two bathrooms. Asked end of May if they could do the work before 18th June, which is when we would be on holiday. They said it would be a push but yes. Pencilled in 17th June. Ordered materials, paid deposit. To cut a long story short, we moved into our new house on 19th July with no kitchen or bathroom floors and no date given when the work could be done. We'd already paid for the materials so asked them to deliver so we could get our own fitters. They did, less some items we'd actually paid for (and they ignored my email to ask for an up to date invoice). My advice: visit their nice showroom, take some samples, choose what you like, then buy it online (it'll be cheaper) and find your own fitter - easy to do through mybuilder for example. Got the floor done nicely and quickly within 10 days around 15% cheaper than first floors' price. My analysis: giving them the benefit of the doubt, they're busy and can't cope with the business, so are messing around the lower value jobs (my job was around £1000 value). Without the benefit of the doubt, they are either incompetent in their admin or dishonest, or both.

If you are this person then The Rug Rooms will disappoint I'm afraid as they are closed on a Wednesday. However if you are happy to buy your rugs on other days then The Rug Rooms is a good place to go. They have rugs from all over the world ranging from modern designs to the more traditional. They also specialise in rugs of the gigantic kind and you can even arrange a home consultation where a specialist will come to your house and discuss you need of massive rugs. Customisation seems to be in these days so if your looking for something a little bit unique then you can also design your own rug at The Rug Rooms! What more do you want? To be able to go in on a Wednesday? Tough!

Apart from the obvious, namely rugs, this place offers a wee bit of calm just off the hustle and bustle of great western road. Located in a strange old building with loads of period features and its fair share of character, the rug rooms has tons o rugs and floor furnishings (another term for rugs) differing in style and price. Keep in mind this ain't no IKEA when looking at the prices, and always be prepared to grab someone if you have any question's, they really are quite nice.....if only they incorporated this joint with a coffee spot.....maybe a business plan in the making, rugs and coffee.....ruffee....cugs.....ok , enough, if you want a rug give this place a visit.

This place has a fair stock of Persian and Oriental rugs and the staff are extremely knowledgeable, if a little aloof. Persian rugs certainly aren't to everyone's taste. No doubt they're exquisitely made, by hand, using extremely intricate weaving patterns. I just find them a bit gaudy. And I don't think this place, good as it is, is helped by the tacky window displays of little brass trinkets, shisha pipes and all things Arabic. Still, if Persian rugs are your bag, this is, as Lauren G. says, a veritable Aladdin's cave for rugs. They also offer a professional cleaning and repair service, essential to keep your expensive rugs pristine.

What a cute store!…read more The Persian Rug Village sells every type of rug imaginable - amazing! It is an Aladdin's Cave for anything rug related. The store is situated in the busy and bustling Morningside Road and it is just a short walk from the city centre so it is easy to get to this shop. The Persian Rug Village are specialists in oriental rugs, all of which are utterly gorgeous, but quite pricey which is to be expected considering they are Persian. Decorative carpets are also sold in this store too and they offer a wide selection of different designs and colours of carpets which are sooo soft! The staff in the Persian Rug Village are very friendly and highly knowledgeable about their stock and they are always happy to order in a certain style of rug if it is not available in their store. As well as selling rugs, the Persian Rug Village also offers a cleaning and repair service for rugs which may be stained or damaged. I can't wait to come back to this store when I am older and have money to burn so that I can buy one of their gorgeously soft rugs.

When I first came here, I almost thought it must be some kind of mirage, and half suspected that it would have disappeared into thin air the next time I passed by. Subsequent visits have reassured me that the place is perfectly real. Stepping inside is like stepping out of Scotland into another, opulent realm where every inch of space is covered with priceless Turkish carpets, Ming vases, lacquered cabinets, Russian icon paintings, luxurious wall hangings and ceremonial costumes from nomadic tribes. I have no idea where the owner of this shop acquires all these amazing items, nor who comes to this out of the way shop to buy them, but I do know that you can spend hours marvelling at what is in here. Although, unless you happen to be a wealthy aristocrat looking to furnish a palace, or some other extravagant moneyed-up type, you'll probably, like me, limit yourself to window shopping.
