If you are this person then The Rug Rooms will disappoint I'm afraid as they are closed on a Wednesday. However if you are happy to buy your rugs on other days then The Rug Rooms is a good place to go. They have rugs from all over the world ranging from modern designs to the more traditional. They also specialise in rugs of the gigantic kind and you can even arrange a home consultation where a specialist will come to your house and discuss you need of massive rugs. Customisation seems to be in these days so if your looking for something a little bit unique then you can also design your own rug at The Rug Rooms! What more do you want? To be able to go in on a Wednesday? Tough!

Apart from the obvious, namely rugs, this place offers a wee bit of calm just off the hustle and bustle of great western road. Located in a strange old building with loads of period features and its fair share of character, the rug rooms has tons o rugs and floor furnishings (another term for rugs) differing in style and price. Keep in mind this ain't no IKEA when looking at the prices, and always be prepared to grab someone if you have any question's, they really are quite nice.....if only they incorporated this joint with a coffee spot.....maybe a business plan in the making, rugs and coffee.....ruffee....cugs.....ok , enough, if you want a rug give this place a visit.

This lovely, genuine carpet and rug shop has been here for as long as I can remember. In fact, one…read moreof my earliest memories is my folks buying a massive rug out of here - all reds, oranges and dark greens. It still stands in one of the busiest sections of Great Western Road with it's huge glass windows expertly showing off the wide range of carpets and rugs they have to offer. Admittedly, due to the Persian aspect, a lot of the rugs are fairly similar - well, at least colour wise - so may not suit the modern Ikea themed home. However, if you are looking for something with bundles of character, warm tones and plushness this is the place for you. Unfortunately, the prices in here have crept up as this part of the city has became increasingly trendy. This is potentially why it seems apparent that the business is seriously struggling. But, for all you bargain hunters this can no longer be an excuse as they are offering huge reductions now. I'm definitely hopping down and investigating when I get my next wages in. They also have some ok priced gifts (mostly candle holders and the like) as well as some really sweet little kiddies knitted jackets. Maybe, someone more domesticated than me could easily knit these themselves but alas, that it not me. So for £12 a pop and at their good quality, I give them the thumbs up. Hurry, before this place sadly diminishes.

It's a homewares/hosey kind of shop which is very Scottish in all it's tartan glory but in a classy, chic way. I popped in and the two lovely shop assistants were super helpful. I was hoping they had picture frames but sadly they didn't, so I just had a browse instead. This is the kind of shop I'd happily curl up in under a blanket and have a nap in - it feels super homely and cosy. As I said, there's lots of tartan but it's very stylish and good quality stuff. From lovely mugs and plates to cushions, rugs, tables and lamps, you could pretty much deck out your whole home here. Want to go that bit further? Step through to the back room where there's clothes, accessories, scarves and bags. Prices aren't cheap - a large overnight bag is over £300 and cushions are over £50. Sure, you might be able to find stuff cheaper elsewhere but they are passionately Scottish and everything is made here in the Western Isles, Borders and Highlands. So you're getting proper quality stuff which is locally made, which is surely worth those extra pennies when you're furnishing your place. The staff are super helpful and offered alternative housewarming gift suggestions, like their current deal of oven mitts and a cookbook for £28. Not quite what I wanted so I didn't buy anything at this visit, but I'll definitely be back for another wee nosey soon.

The products are absolutely stunning and i'll definitely be coming back to buy some of the very cute tartan cups and plates to send as gifts to America. I dont wear wool so sadly cant buy any of the shawls but if you do wear wool definitely check into them. Modern but keeping a classical Scottish touch. They looked gorgeous! The staff were very knowledgeable and very friendly without being at all pushy. I've parked outside the store so many times without venturing inside but so glad that changed! Going to look into visiting the manufacturing part as I spend a lot of time in the borders and have a very artsy mother. The Yelp event was wonderful! I'm so glad I finally got enough confidence and managed to make an event. If you've never been to an event you're going to meet so many lovely and generous people with an amazing community manager. I'm already looking forward to my next event and getting to know people I met tonight!

We had enquired over the phone and went in the next day to pay the deposit and collect it. I don't particularly like writing a bad review, however the service we received was awful and the staff member was quite rude to us from the off. We eventually left with the Rug Doctor and went back up to office. We moved furniture, filled the machine with water and shampoo as instructed then went to go plug it in and the plug prongs were bent and it completely unable to be plugged in. The plug isn't something that we had even thought to check as we assumed that the equipment that wr gad already paid for qas in workig order. We called the shop immediately, who then said that we could have damaged it while taking it away, but then finally agreed that they would exchange it and provide another shampoo. We managed to exchange after going back again to the shop but we wasted most of our day dealing with this issue. But I doubt very much I will visit this store again.
