Guys showed up a little late but once they got going they did a good job and were easy to work with.

U-Pack Moving

Like most people, I dread and loathe moving. It's such a hassle and one of the most stressful…read moreevents in a person's life (which is why those of us who do it so often, really hate it). I heard about UPack from a blog on moving and I am so glad I went with them. You won't find a cheaper way to move across the country unless you drive your own truck or get rid of everything. A bonus is that you only pay for what you use of the trailer. That means, if you over or underestimate your size of move, you only pay for what you use. We had estimated I would need 7 feet and I actually needed 10 (the trailers are different than moving trucks, so think of it as I had almost filled a 22' moving truck). There was no issue as your stuff goes in first, then the trailer is packed for a freight haul and brought to either the next depot or your location, the right is removed and your possessions can be picked up. It's cheaper to do depot-depot. Also, making a reservation online saves you $25. I first used UPack of Manassas, Virginia, at ABF Transport. They were very nice and the trailer was clean. I was told it would go out that Friday afternoon and arrive by the upcoming Wednesday. It arrived Tuesday and other than one broken casserole dish (due to the mover of the local company who dropped the box), everything was in same condition as we had packed it. The ABF Transport in Williston, VT, was equally as nice and helpful. Rich was great via phone and in person. I can't emphasize enough how much I preferred this service to other moves I have had, some of which have been almost twice as expensive.

Two Men and a Truck Moving

When he and his crew arrived to load, they placed things in the truck without padding and without securing them with straps. We had to go in and place padding around furniture and secure, delicate items with straps. It was a nightmare. When the truck arrived at the destination, the Two Men And A Truck company who were unloading, opened the back and said what? Did the Packers hate them? They had placed very heavy items in the wrong order and had not put nearly enough protective blankets on things in spite of our best efforts to mitigate this. We lost pieces of furniture and it was all because this head loader didn't get a paid vacation to visit his parents.

Avoid Two Men and a Truck in Burlington, VT: use literally any other mover. They do not meet the…read morestandards of other Two Men and a Truck locations, and they cost me over $7,000 in damaged furniture, lost equipment, and doubled shipping costs because they packed the truck so poorly. It cost them over $2,000 to load a 2-bedroom house. The team that unloaded it in Minnesota - just $400. I've used Two Men and a Truck in Philadelphia with great results, nothing broken, kind and efficient, so when I needed to move to MN, I called the Burlington location. After being quoted around $20,000 for a full-service move, the manager suggested I save money by having them load a U-Pack truck instead. With U-Pack, you pay by the foot, so efficient vertical packing is critical. I estimated 13 feet, expecting to go slightly over. U-Pack assured me that with professional movers, I should come in close to the estimate. Instead, the Burlington crew packed everything flat, with no stacking--using 26 feet, double my estimate. Compare my photos to the ones in their own advertising. It's not even close. When the U-Pack driver arrived, he told me it was the worst packing job he had ever seen and asked if I had done it myself. He warned me that with nothing secured, my furniture would likely be destroyed in transit. The Two Men and a Truck team I hired to unload in Minnesota said the exact same thing--and told me repeatedly how sorry and ashamed they were that another Two Men and a Truck franchise had done this. To make it worse, the Burlington crew refused to load my elliptical (over $3,000), claiming the ramp wasn't safe after trying to lift it with straps. I had told them upfront it was heavy. They left it on my back patio with no way for me to move it back inside, hire another mover on no notice, or get it to storage. I sold it on Facebook for $180 just to unload it. Two older guys picked it up days later and loaded it onto a trailer in minutes, no trouble at all. The U-Pack driver's warning was right. When the truck was unloaded: * Dining chairs thrown in uncovered, completely scratched * Credenza with broken legs * Bookshelf with broken legs * Dresser mirror badly scratched from poor wrapping * Multiple boxes crushed by unsecured furniture, contents broken I called Mike at the Burlington location. He refunded part of the cost because the crew had also overcharged me--but when I told him what the U-Pack driver said, he brushed it off as the driver "covering himself" and insisted that since nothing was broken when it went in the truck, any damage was the driver's fault. That logic is absurd. If I set a coffee on the dashboard and it flies into my lap on the first turn, that's not the driver's fault--that's mine for putting it there unsecured. All in: roughly $7,000 lost between extra shipping, the abandoned elliptical, and damaged furniture. I've had excellent experiences with Two Men and a Truck in Rochester, MN, and Philadelphia. This is a Burlington-specific problem with zero accountability for their errors. Shop around. Do not use this location. You'll overcharge, lose furniture, and pay double for your U-Pack truck. Photos of the truck, the damage, and the abandoned elliptical are attached.

Extremely considerate, kind, careful movers. This was an out-of-state delivery (to Connecticut). We were impressed by the professionalism at every step of the way. We didn't want to be surprised by "unexpected" additional costs when our furniture was delivered. Heidi's quote was higher than competitors but seemed much more reasonable compared with past moves. In the end, the final cost was a little lower than the estimate. More than fair cost for the value of the work done. Well done, Heidi! Justin, Matt, and Brad showed up promptly on the scheduled day to pack us. Polite, responsible -- and efficient! They packed boxes and protected the furniture well. They finished early enough to start loading the truck that day and came back the following day to finish loading. They arrived earlier than expected in Connecticut the following morning and unloaded very quickly. Furniture was positioned and reassembled as we wanted and boxes were placed in the correct locations. Amazing work! Nothing was lost. Nothing was broken. Despite the careful protection, there were minor scuff marks on a couple of pieces, but nothing worth trying to repair. On time, under budget, and in good order. It doesn't get better than that. Thanks, yet again, Heidi, Justin, Bradley, and Matt. Wonderful job. And we hope Heidi got some of Angelo's Italian cookies that we sent back with you. We don't plan to move again, but if we did, we would call Morways/ProMoving for the job.
