The restaurant kitchen is friendly for substitutions. I ordered the filet mignon and it was top notch. I highly recommend a side of spinach, which is served with goat cheese and simply delicious. The manager was friendly and checked on us. The Burrata is also delicious. We visited today for the first time and I was so thoroughly impressed. The restaurant is beautiful and the food was absolutely amazing. Our waiter, Leo, was so kind. I was a little nervous to dine there with my two children as the vibe is definitely upscale but Leo was so helpful and when we mentioned that we were celebrating their birthdays this month, he brought out their desserts with little birthday candles on them. This is the BEST food option at American Dream. We were looking to get out and walk a bit on a cold Saturday afternoon, so we went to the American Dream Mall and walked until we worked up an appetite and found Carpaccio. Dined on a quiet, rainy, Thursday night. Party of 8, we had a 6:45 reservation. The host was MIA, it took a minute for them to seat us and then a while for a waiter to come to our table. The restaurant was fairly quit so not sure why the service was slow, everything from the water to the dessert was delayed. On to the food- the Manzo Parmigiano and fried calamari for apps were very good, perfect sharing portions. For entree I had the chicken Parmesan which was large and delicious however it should have came with a side of pasta as opposed to the hospital grade mashed potatoes and bland steam veggies (broccoli & carrots). My sister ordered the branzino which was on the specials menu, the waiter came back and told her it was no longer available, she opted for the capellini with shrimp, the pasta was very good in a light spiced sauce, the shrimp however were inedible, very fishy. The rest of our party enjoyed their dishes- lobster fra diavlo special & lamb ragu. The waiter was apologetic for the slow service stating they were short staffed (this is my second time at this location and both times the service was super slow), he brought us 3 complimentary desserts. Our bread that came out needed a little more dressing to it, but nonetheless delicious. My Pinot Grigio was perfectly chilled. The fried calamari might be one of the best I've ever had. Service was excellent, but the food was mediocre at best. The burrata appetizer tasted pretty good but it was served cold rather than room temperature so the interior of the cheese wasn't very creamy. My chicken marsala entree wasn't terrible but lacked any true marsala flavor. My wife's chicken parm was just okay too. Again, lacking in flavor. I hate to say this but both dishes tasted like they were reheated from frozen. I hope that isn't the case but they definitely tasted that way. read more

It's a bit of a walk though from one end to the other in the mall. The restaurant is all the way on one end while things to do are all on the opposite side of the walkway. Finally made it Carpaccio for restaurant week. This is located in the Saks fifth Avenue side of the mall. The atmosphere is relaxed and chic with red chairs and mirrors. It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon around 4:30 but by the time we left it was filling up. We sat at the bar for dinner which has TVs (for the sportsfans) and our server Chasteidy was wonderful. Restaraunt week menu allowed us to try a good sampling : Tricolor salad was tasty with a light dressing. The Caesar salad was good but needed more dressing and we could do without the anchovy on top. Main courses- chicken franchaise was ok, lots of capers! Sauce was light. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetable. Salmon with shrimp and brandy cream sauce was very good. I had the sauce on the side because I don't like too much heavy sauce. Desserts - tiramisu - was delicious, very light and good espresso flavor soaked the lady fingers. The chocolate soufflé was actually a molten chocolate which is a favorite of mine, there was plenty of chocolate sauce in the middle and was served with vanilla ice cream on a shortbread. I also added a papparadelle lamb ragu to share, since the lamb ragu part was intriguing to us. Overall I can tell the ingredients are of very high quality. the salmon pieces were extremely thin, and the avocado was delicious. The pasta (both the linguine and papparadelle) were both of excellent quality and perfectly al dente. The clams and mussels were great, and the lamb ragu was decent. A bit light on the flavour if anything. Service was excellent and they ensured we were taken care of despite arriving 30 minutes before closing. read more

I was a bit apprehensive about dining here because the reviews weren't the greatest. Luckily my experience was quite the opposite. My partner and I sat at their beautiful bar and ordered cocktails. I had a cosmo and then later ordered an espresso martini. Hands down, one of theeee best espresso martinis I've had. Definitely in my top 10 for sure. We also had the caesar salad and meatballs. I love that salad came with actual anchovies and the dressing was perfect. The meatballs were also really tender and flavorful! No football games were at MetLife, so the mall and restaurants were pretty empty. We had 2 servers help us to our table and take my purse and shopping bags to place them in seats near us. It's a very dimly lit restaurant. We were sat next to the windows by interior of the mall which kind of helped my husband read the menu, but he ended up needing his phone light. Service started out strong. We had a few people taking care of us. The drinks were great. The bread comes out nice and warm, drizzled with herbs and olive oil. They have a large wine menu and a fair range of cocktails. My pappardelle lamb ragu was delicious. The pasta was a little too firm for my taste, but I enjoyed the dish. My husband said that his veal was overdone and he was disappointed in the entree. He also said that his second order of the same drink was made differently and tasted more bitter than his first. Our server told us the dessert options and then left us to decide what we wanted to do. He passed our table multiple times and for a while it seemed like he was hustling around, avoiding us. At one point, he passed our table quickly to speak with the other server's congregating in the back corner of the room. We finally got his attention for another glass of wine and the chocolate soufflé. I'm pretty sure they gave me a different type of wine for my 3rd glass, but it tasted alright and I didn't want to complain. The dessert was decent. I've had better fancy lava cakes elsewhere. Overall, there's too much inconsistency with the food, drinks and service for the price point. They are at the end of the luxury shopping wing. After spending $$$ shopping and then stopping into a restaurant with a similar flair, I expected better. Maybe I'm spoiled by places like Saddle River Inn and Oceanos which are consistently amazing service and food. Maybe this is really good for a mall restaurant, but I wouldn't come back to spend over $180 for what we received. read more

I'm so confused by the low ratings. The food was amazing, the service was great and the restaurant was located in a quiet part of the mall. For appetizers we got the calamari and caprese. The caprese had the best mozzarella I've ever tried. It was so creamy to the point where I went to the grocery store to recreate it. Onto the calamari, it's always been our go to for Italian but the way it was seasoned was perfection. For dinner I got the filet which was perfectly cooked. My son ordered a marghertia pizza with perfect crust, my husband ordered the seafood risotto special which was packed with meat and my daughter ordered a chicken pasta, which she loved. For dessert we couldn't decide so we ordered the apple pie, tiramisu and chocolate soufflé (more like chocolate lava) The tiramisu was the only dessert we disliked. I had a lychee martini. For apps we got the meatballs, I thought they were good but salty. We also got the Caesar salad, it was good but nothing special. We also shared a mushroom pizza which was pretty good. Not the best Nj pizza but good for a mall pizza. For dinner I got the lemon & goat cheese ravioli. To be honest it was not the best. The raviolis were big, kind of mushy and fell apart. The flavors were ok but I wouldn't get it again. My friend had the mushroom ravioli which I think was very good and I would get that one next time. My husband got the lemon chicken dish. That was good but nothing special.
