Really cool way to spend a few hours in Islamorada. About $55 per person but you can see the…read moreshows/demonstrations as many times as you like. Each show is on a set schedule so you walk from location to location every 15 to 30 minutes. They have a cool dolphin show, and fun/informational shows with sea lions, parrots, turtles, crocodiles, and fish/sharks/rays. The dolphin show was the highlight watching them do tricks and interacting with the trainer in the water. There's a small beach area where you can interact with some fish by feeding them. They say there's a swimming area but I didn't see anywhere I'd swim. They have a gift shop at the entrance and a couple of beverage/snack huts mixed in with the show locations. It can be warm/humid so plan accordingly.

Do NOT miss this Dolphin show! We have been visiting this place for the last 25 years and honestly…read moredidn't expect much from the dolphin show this time. We "thought" we had seen it before. Boy were we wrong! Clearly these trainers have been working hard to teach new tricks. The dolphins in the show are the biggest dolphins we have ever seen (and we see them a LOT here in Florida). Years ago we paid extra to swim with dolphins. All I can say is those dolphins you swim with are NOT this big. If they were, everyone would be afraid! The ones in the show are massive and that muscle translates into some of the most spectacular jumping moves anywhere. Don't think twice about paying the admission for this attraction. Besides the Dolphins, the Sea Lion and Parrot shows are fun too (tip: ask them to turn on the fans in the Parrot tent, it gets hot!). Even if you've been here many times before, we strongly encourage you to revisit this place if only for the Dolphin Show. Congrats to the trainers. Those dolphins clearly love what they do. Bravo!

Pirate Park Playground - Pirate playground, Miami Beach

    Pirate Park Playground

Ahoy Matey! Did you know there is a pirate themed playground in Altos Del Mar Park in Miami Beach?…read moreGather up the crew and anchors away for the most almost free fun a fledgling pirate can have. You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition - With a pineapple and guava pizza

I usually go to the fair once a year to try some of their food suggested by people online. So my…read morerating is based off their food, not the actual rides. The elephant ears are really good. A sweet delight that I think everyone associates with the fair. It is VERY buttery, so that could be a turn off visually to some. I also order the Doritos loco chicken on a stick. Pleasantly surprised with the flavor profile of this. As the name suggests, it's a chicken pierced by a stick. It is fried, and covered with liquid cheese and Doritos crumbs. While unhealthy, it was super delicious. The last item is the one I was most excited for, but unfortunately I would never get again. I heard from some friends that the Birria Ramen was great. Unfortunately, it was overly salty. They use the $1 Marucha ramen cups that you get at Publix, and they put birria mix in it. The taste was overwhelming. I would rate 3/10. Overall, despite me only coming for the food. The FAIR is a fun place to bring the family. It has varies rides, and activities to take advantage of.

To drink, I had the freshly squeezed lemonade in the novelty cup which offers discounted refills (definitely worth it, definitely recommend. Wonderfully refreshing for this FL hot days). If you're like me, who are not there for the rides, do not pass on the shows. The ice skating in particular was so much fun, and so entertaining; good for the whole family. Parking is free, but there is a 'preferred ' parking option where you pay to park closer. I used the free parking but I got there at 2:00pm so the walk wasn't bad. Definitely bring a hat, and possibly one of those portable fans (I did). The heat is no joke and there is limited shade.
