Karaoke? Check. Good Food? Check. Good Drinks? Check…read more As Columbia's only Karaoke bar, Tsubaki does a really good job with their services, food, and drinks. They're located right next to Inakaya, which is one of my favorite sushi places in town. It wouldn't be a bad idea to grab dinner at Inakaya, drink some sake, and then come over here for some karaoke. I usually come here on the weekends and as other people have mentioned, they do have a $5 cover. The inside isn't too nice or pretty, it's pretty bare besides the tables and seats plus or minus a few plants. Once you walk in, you'll see on your right their private room that you rent out by the hour and sing with friends for $20-25. It's not that big, but can fit 5 or 6 people comfortably. Then there's the bar on the left and the main general karaoke area on the right. The Karaoke: Songs are 99 cents a piece and you go up to the bar to request your song. Their song list is extensive, but they don't have the most super recent songs available. Their newest songs are at least 2 or 3 years old, but the selections were still good. They have classic karaoke songs by Journey, Backstreet boys, Beyonce, Micheal Jackson, and many more. When your song is picked, you walk up to the small stage. There are two microphones so you can make it a duet if you want. Don't worry if you don't know the song or forgot a song or two, there's a prompter right in front of you. Behind you is a white screen where a random background video plays. The Food: It was late and we already ate dinner so we all ordered appetizers which include: Chicken Karaage, Crispy Calamari, Fried Mushroom, and the Yakitori. For what I consider to be bar/drunk food, it was really good and they have more than the typical wings and fries to offer. My favorite was the Yakitori! It's a must try for seafood lovers! It's basically a squid ball topped with special sweet Yakitori sauce and topped with fish flakes. The Chicken Karaage was my second favorite because it was moist and crispy and a large portion. The Crispy Calamari and Fried Mushroom were ordinary and nothing special. For drinks, we ordered an iced bucket of 6 cold domestic beers for about $14 so it was a really good deal Overall, the fun and light hearted environment is contagious. It's not the best looking karaoke place and is by no means fancy, but this is a good place to go for a casual night with friends.

The food is subpar but the drinks and karaoke vibes are guaranteed fun. The menu prices have increased throughout the years (see menu pics) but again, food isn't great to begin with as it's mainly fried food options. The bathrooms need better maintenance and the service is okay. Overall, great karaoke joint with pretty good variety of folks joining in on the fun.
