Unfortunately, they don't have historical tours but they do have tours on foot and it was not feasible for me to do after having a surgery on my hip & leg - still healing. So I browsed the store for a long period and had the most fun with using the coin operated crystal vending machine. For two quarters you can get one to three crystals with a turn of the knob on the machine. I was lucky to get three crystals several times. You don't know how many or what kind of crystals you will get, yet it is fun, and the crystals make a great gift to give to people. I got a lot of green aventurine crystals and crystals I usually would not select like dalmation jasper & a dull moonstone. It was a steal since most crystals are $1-3 each for the sizes I received of these crystals. Alyssa was very engaging and stellar in providing me information and generating more sales effortlessly - just by answering all my questions and showing me different rings stocked inside the ring display. She was delightful, memorable, and helped me select the perfect rings to wear on my index and third finger. I got 3 rings for $24.99. Other items I purchased was: money attraction incense & oudh resin in a glass bottle for incense, unique oracle cards with funny yes & no answers, stickers, a pamphlet detailing all the places where television series and movies were filmed at in Wilmington, North Carolina, and post cards. The postcards were only $1. I should have bought a book there that I thought I already had. The book is The Ghosts of Old Wilmington by John Hirchak. The book is signed by the writer. I had two ghost books about Wilmington but it was not that one. Yet it is another reason I should go back to The Black Cat Shoppe. I plan to come back here and go on their tours later in the future. This is a place I plan to visit again the next time I come to Wilmington, North Carolina.

I spent about 15 minutes learning how pachinko works and then playing through $10 worth of pachinko balls. The object is to shoot the balls (basically ball bearings) so that they land in the right spot to win prizes. The moving parts are all behind glass so there's no danger but there are lots of flashing lights, ringing bells and interesting animations to keep you hooked. They might've had a bad experience or beef with one employee but every staff member here is very personable, polite and accommodating. They remembered my face the second time I went and even though there was no one at the skate rental window, when I found an employee they let me try a couple pairs before going out on the ice. The skates could definitely be in better condition and the ice was rough one of the days but if you go often enough that's why you buy your own pair and have patience while they refresh the ice after sessions. I have zero complains with this business and hope they stay in town for a long time!!

My daughter has been attending Christina's classes going on three months now and, although she has a natural knack for art, she has churned out two incredibly awesome paintings (see pics) by a 7-year-old. Christina is a very nice, polite and overall awesome person who will make you feel very welcome in her home studio. Her apartment, which doubles as the studio, is filled with some pretty amazing artwork. She is excellent with all the kids and they all like her back. She is very knowledgeable, talented and patient with the kids. You get 4 hours of class/hands-on class a month for $65 (there is also an annual materials fee of $70), how can you beat that?!?! She also offers adult classes but I've not attended those. She also puts out a gallery for her artists at Pentes Art Works which the kids all love and get very excited over. Walked into Platos Closet, which I've never been to before, in an attempt to sell five pairs of Under Armor sneakers that I wore once each. My wife told me I had to LOL I had the original boxes and it was obvious that all pairs were hardly ever worn. They looked like new. The girl at the front desk gave me an estimate of between $20-$23 for each, which quite honestly surprised me because I would gladly have taken $10-15 each. I originally spent around $80 for each pair 1-2 years ago. She explained that I'd have to leave them so they could be inspected and that I could return in half an hour. I returned and went over to another girl who handed me the estimate sheet which said $8.32. Quite honestly I was about to accept their offer of $8.32 for each pair of sneakers when the girl said, "no no no that's $8.32 for all 5 of the sneakers" LOL. So thats approximately $1.75 for each pair. I smiled and said, no thanks and left with my 5-pairs of Under Armors. I understand that these 2nd hand stores are in business to make $$$$$ but that's not only ridiculous but I felt extremely disrespected. I would rather donate these sneakers to Goodwill or give them to a local church than except their offer. Will never go back.
