Guided Rides - Our guide Josh managed to make it all work perfect; for a mom who is truly a mountain biking beginner, the dad who seems to be able to handle anything and the son who really enjoys a challenge. My point is, they happily accommodate all skills levels. Rental Bike options - it's only first class here with beautifully equipped new Yeti bikes, you will leave wanting one of these babies for sure! Plenty of choices for all rider types/sizes/etc... Location - The Bike Farm is easy to find just outside Asheville proper then a short trip to unbelievable trail options. Your guide will discuss what you want to do, then plan the route accordingly. We originally chose one day then added a second because we just couldn't get enough. If we could have stayed longer, we definitely would have. We took this trip to have an escape and enjoy the outdoors and couldn't be happier that we chose The Bike Farm. When we return to NC, without a doubt we will book again.

This is a very fast single seat coaster ride and is part of the Ober Gatlinburg system of rides…read more The sky lifts and are part of the Ober Gatlinburg park as well. This is not a ride for the weak unless you break it a lot with the pull up handles. You are striped tight into the seat. It goes fast and it Is over in about 2 to 3 minutes. YOU control the speed. The faster you chose you go the more g-forces you will feel. It does Not go upside down but just takes a lot of sharp turns which give the g-force feeling of about 4 G's. This ride is extremely safe. It has a lot of automated safety features such as automatic breaking if you get closer than 180 feet to the car in front of you. In the unlikely event the seat belt came loose it will automatically stop as well. So you are not going to be able to do something unsafe or stupid on this ride. There are cameras that monitors the riders as well as workers posted in look-out booths along the route. I would do this ride and not the "sled ride" that had the concrete pad. This ride is very smooth. I rode it full speed with my braking handles fully released so that it would roll as fast as possible and it was so much fun.

There's a weight limit of 300lb per car and if you want to ride with someone they have you and that person stand on a weight to see if you can or not. They don't want you flying off the mountain after all. Hubby and I had to ride separately (oh noes!) but it was fine. You have control over how fast you go so you can slow down on curves if you choose to. I slowed down on a quite a few (and hubby said he did, too). I would totally ride it again. It was so much fun.

They had great attitudes/personalities and really enhanced the experience This place takes safety very seriously and the guides teach you how to be safe and do multiple safety checks throughout the entire experience to make sure everything goes smoothly. All of my fears were calmed by how thorough they were. And they actually have a tiny "demo" ZipLine that they have you do first- to make sure you know what to do and can handle the Mega Zip. THE "Mega Zip" ZIPLINE WAS A BLAST!!! And the views from the ZipLine, the top of the mountain, and on the way up in the bus are gorgeous. 10/10 would come back again! Very safe and very fun!

The Chimney Tops trail is located 6.9 miles south of the Sugarlands Visitor Center in Great Smokey…read moreMountains National Park. It is listed as a moderately difficult trail and it is one of the most popular trails in the park. I saw cars stretch from the parking lot to a mile down the mountain during peak hiking times. On November 23, 2016, two juvenile males started a fire by throwing lit matches along the trail. A hiker on the trail caught them on camera. The park service decided not to put out the fire, instead containing it, and on November 28th, aided by a drought and wind, the fire exploded resulting in the death of fourteen people and injuries to one hundred and seventy six people. Eighteen thousand acres were burned including eleven thousand acres in the National Park. Two thousand four hundred and sixty structures were destroyed. The fire ended up costing more than 500 million dollars. Before the fire was put out it threatened to engulf Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The trail was closed for a year and the pinnacle of the mountain is still closed. The park service constructed a new observation platform a quarter mile from the summit. The trail is 3.3 miles round trip which does not seem like very long but it was all up the mountain. At the parking lot I met a man told me he considered the trail a 9 out of 10. Another woman coming down told me it was the hardest thing she had ever done. I started the trail thinking I would give up if I needed to but with sheer determination and a fair bit of pain I made it to the top. The first part of the trail follows the waters of Road Prong Creek. You cross over several bridges where people swim in the cascading waters. Once you cross the last bridge is where the real challenge begins as you ascend straight up the mountain. As bad as it was, it would have been even worse if the Trails Forever crew had not installed the 367 rock steps weighing 300 pounds each! They redesigned unsafe parts of the trail and improved the drainage. Without their work the trail would have been extremely eroded and dangerous. The trail to the top is a combination of dirt trail and steps. What is cool about the hike is that everyone on the trail encourages each other to keep going. I don't care how fit people looked going up the mountain, everyone was huffing and puffing. Unfortunately for me the sky opened up about 1/3 mile from the top. Lightning struck the ground not far from me and cold rain poured down. I was about to give up and go back down when a woman went past me on the way to the top and I said screw it, I came too far to give up now. I continued up in the pouring rain to arrive to a hazy view of the chimney formation and Mount LeConte and Mount Kephart. The view was nothing like it would have been on a clear day. The Cherokee name for Chimney Tops is Duniskwalgunyi, or "forked antler", because of its resemblance to the deer antlers. There is a Cherokee legend about a medicine man who found monstrous reptiles at the top of the mountain. Unfortunately the mountain Gods were against me that day. I was so wet that I couldn't even dry off the camera lens on my iPhone. I thought my phone would be ruined. Three days later and I can still feel it in my legs. The hike took me two hours and 22 minutes over 3.57 miles. I did an elevation gain of 1.035 feet. Even though the view wan't all that I hoped it would be I am proud of myself for making it up there. On the way down the mountain I ran into a group of three guys going back for a second time because they lost their car keys. When it started raining they got separated from their keys and were combing the mountain for them. I hope they found them because I still feel awful for them.

Awesome if you are a stay at home parent but as a traveler looking to ride after work- not good (website could have been a lot more helpful here). Lastly, I got there at 4:30. With "only 30 Minutes left to ride", they recommended that I come back a couple days later and ride- at full price ($25)! ?!? I'm really glad that they are helping to expose young riders to the sport but fix the website and get some signage and if someone arrives with only a few minutes left to ride, you might think about offering the twilight price if they come back another day. The good news is that I did find a fantastic area to ride about 25 minutes away. Bent Creek. Open past 5pm and no charge. Plus the locals (and the shop nearby-Epic) there are super friendly and helpful.

The Inner Lopp was great and a nice short loop for my 5yr old to go on for his first ever MTB trail ride. Trails are groomed pretty well and I can't wait to go back and try the 5 mile Gobbler Trail. Make sure to drive a vehicle you don't mind getting scratched by brush and can handle a moderately rough gravel access road. No way I'd take a nice car down this road. Trails aren't marked as you enter but are further up the trail where it has a junction. I'm sure this will change as the more permanent signs are made. Currently there are only two loops. You can go either way when the trail forks as they both return you back to the main trail head. The map on the website is what's planned for the future so don't plan your trip around that. I've added a pic of the current map that's at the junctions. I'm excited to see more recreation opportunities in Murphy. There are more trails in progress so stay tuned people, this a wonderful addition to the area.
