A nice small set of falls up a steep slope This site can be reached by 2 different methods. Our navigation app took us the more difficult way which was a rock/dirt road that went over the hill. I would suggest looking for the paved alternate route and taking that one. I highly recommend taking the well-paved part for everyone. Parking is limited in the parking lot that is at the trailhead for the falls. This location leads to several trails and at least 2 falls that are a short hike: Juney Whank and Tom Creek. Juney Whank is only about 0.2 miles but it is up a steep winding slope. There is a turnoff to the right that takes you down to a small bridge that puts you right in front of (and very close to) the falls. The falls are not really high but it is a nice view both looking up and down from the bridge. If you continue across the bridge up the trail, you will come to a divide in the trail. The one going down will take you to another set of falls (Tom Creek falls) and back to the parking area via a large and wide road. I would recommend this site for people interested in falls but a little expectation management on this. It is not a large set of falls and some visitors might be underwhelmed.

This place was not on our original agenda for our NC trip, but I'm so glad we ended up there. Whether you're looking for some tubing down the river or a hike, this place is great for individuals of all ages. The hike was a bit steep at times, but the views were worth it. If you're not as able bodied, there is still a phenomenal view of a waterfall that you can see without any incline.

Loved this! We are a family of 6; our youngest is 3 years old and he had no problem navigating the few roots on the ground. Really beautiful waterfall.

We did the Deep Creek Horse Trail (3 falls loop) here which takes you past Juney Whank, Indian Creek and Tom Branch Falls. This is about a 2-2.5 mile loop and the first half of it is ever so slightly more difficult than the second half as it is mostly uphill. I mean I'm pretty out of shape and I was breathless while talking but it was definitely doable still. It was a pretty hike, especially with all the fall colors. I did find the signs to be slightly confusing though and about halfway there is a sign pointing off the trail that simply says cemetery. We followed this thinking "how cool an old cemetery in the woods". We must have followed this for between .5-1 mile. It was a little steeper so more out of breath, less talking and every corner we turned hoping we had made it led to disappointment. How far is that thing?? With only about an hour of sunlight left we had to turn back. I just wish we had more time to accomplish it since we had gone so far already.

A .03-mile walk to the falls (moderate grade).

It's the 3rd tallest of 3 waterfalls you can easily reach from the same trailhead. It is also just a couple hundred feet upstream from the put-in for the tubes. If you continue past Tom Branch Falls about a quarter of a mile, you will see a bridge crossing Indian Creek. Here the Deep Creek trail intersects with Indian Creek Trail, which leads uphill to Indian Creek Falls. You will encounter a set of stairs just a few hundred feet along the trail that will take you down to view the falls. On the return hike you can break off on another connecting trail that leads to a third waterfall named Juney Whank Falls. You can then continue along the trail and it will loop you back to the parking area. We decided against Juney Whank Falls due to time since we were on a mission to visit a few other places, but we did take time to rent tubes from Smoky Mountain Campground. FAIR WARNING FOR ANY FAMILY RENTING TUBES - Deep Creek can be very fast moving, especially after heavy rains and our crew found it very difficult (the word traumatic was used) to get out of the river. Our 27 year old daughter and her husband as well as our 17 year old son did everything they could to safely get our 8, 7 & 6 year old grandsons to shore safely... even lost two of the tubes in the process. Pets are not allowed on this trail. CAMPGROUND 92 individual campsites Each has grills, tables and campfire rings. Hookups & showers are not provided, but flush toilets and drinking water are available. [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] Indian Creek Falls was a great stop along our route from Metro Atlanta to Pigeon Forge, TN. We were so impressed with the Deep Creek campground area that we may return for an overnight stay. There are a number of hiking trails and nearby Bryson City has plenty of restaurants to make a food loving hiker happy! 2022 / 92

I hate that people don't take the time to clean up after themselves or after their dogs if you know what I mean! I'm also a little bit confused with this $5 day pass that you have to pay when I saw no one the entire time we were there walking around and checking so I'm assuming it's on your honor. My other issue was throwing cans out of the water as I was trying to enjoy it with my family. Now I'm not trying to be a Kyle but it'd be nice to see some enforcement of the fools that don't care about trashing up something so beautiful. Shoot hire me and I'll take care of the litter bugs!

It is OK to run a generator for up to 12 hours straight! Then we went on the loop road on our bikes. When and why did they stop making Wednesdays, or part of it,bike only? It was so dangerous for They have replaced this road several times and not added gravel to the shoulder leaving as much as a 6-8" drop off. A bike cannot come up or go down that easily. There are multiple signs that say no stopping use the turn outs, many cars didn't follow this and made traffic even worse. Timed entry? Bike Wednesdays continued? Something needs to be done or someone is gonna get hurt really bad. On a side note many communities have a 3' law. Only pass a bike if you have at least 3' between your side mirrors and the bikes handle bars. I was almost hit with a side mirror. And I wasn't riding slow as I have an e bike. The saddest part is that I have been to 37 federal recreation facilities in the last 9 months and this was by far the worst experience.
