Solid place in the neighborhood with amazing food! The carnitas and by the pound are such good deal and perfect for those parties at home! The place is very clean and very tidy. Behind the counter and in the kitchen you can see that things are well kept.

Worst customer service ever. Especially the old lady. We ordered 1 1/2 pounds and were barely given 1 pound, yet they even weighed the box with the meat. The small box is supposed to be half a pound according to the lady . When we politely asked about it, the lady in the front rudely said, "You can come look at it yourself." Then she started speaking in Spanish about us, not realizing I speak Spanish too. Extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. What made it worse was watching other customers order the same thing and get bigger portions immediately while we waited almost 20 minutes for a tiny amount. I honestly don't understand how this place has 4 stars. The attitude and favoritism were obvious. Management seriously needs to train their employees on customer service

I want to start off by saying I am glad we don't live close by so that it makes it special when we do end up coming here. We've eaten at the restaurant once and the food was great. We got the platter of carnitas to share and it came with beans & rice. The burrito are amazing and the quesabirrias are really good as well. The real star are the carnitas and we make the trip to SJ a couple times a year to pick up a tray of the maciza. The last time, they gave us costillas too and whoa! game changer. The price is so good and they are generous in that they always throw in a little extra. We sometimes get the salsas and pickled onions/veggies. So good! The location is clean, spacious and the staff is always friendly.

San Jose folks don't sleep on this carnitas spot. Friendly staff and clean dining area. You know their carnitas is legit when there is a separate line to buy by the pound. If you are adventurous try the mixed carnitas which has meat, stomach, and skin!

Just had lunch at Carnitas Michoacán and I have to say--what a great experience. The place was spotless, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the service was fantastic. The chips and salsa were fresh, and the carnitas were juicy and perfectly seasoned. Honestly, you can get a full meal for two for about $34, which is an incredible value for the quality. And I'll say it quietly... the carnitas might have been better than my mom's. (Don't tell her I said that.) Definitely worth checking out if you're craving great Mexican food.

Saw this place when I took the kids to Altitude since it was in the shopping Center as well. Decided to try it and came on a Tuesday afternoon and saw it wasn't busy at all. People here were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant set up is nice and clean. Really cool art pieces throughout the restaurant. I came with an appetite and ordered asada super taco and the Jefe taco and asada quesadilla. I wanted a asada enchilada but they only do chicken or pastor. The salsa that comes with chips and dip was delicious. The super taco was very hefty and big, but was very disappointing. The quesadilla wasn't anything special just an ordinary one. The Jefe taco was the best thing I ordered. It comes with a sad and chorizo on a taco. Very flavorful and great mixture on a taco. Overall nice place but not something I'd go out my way for if I'm craving Mexican.

Wanted to find Mexican food close to our hotel (Hayes Mansion). This place popped up as it was 5-7 minutes away. Yelp this restaurant is amazing! Any restaurant that has the name of a dish they serve in their name has to be confident in what they're serving. First off it's located in a nice shopping center with plenty of parking. The restaurant on the inside is new, clean, spacious, and Latin minimalist decor (great vibe). I really liked the art work on the walls. Every single staff member was super friendly, helpful, polite, and gave us great customer service. The food was a 5. The carnitas are so flavorful. The meat chicharrones are soooooo goood! The refried beans are a star on their own. The salsas are flavorful without burning your mouth. Overall such a great experience and we can't wait to visit San Jose again so we can enjoy this delicious meal again.

Food was decent but too many items not available despite a dinner time of 5:30 on the weekend. There was a breakdown in communication as we asked for menudo without the feet but discovered we had feet in the soup. We also had to have our carnitas order redone. They had no ice tea so we only drank water. As I don not drink soda and didn't want a beer. Our orders all came out in different times and not together so it made it weird to eat without all our meals available. Over all food was ok, service could have been better and the ambiance was ok. I'f you're in the area and willing to try a decent Mexican restaurant then I would still say give it a shot and maybe your experience will be a better one.

Orden de Carnitas: perfectly portioned for 2-3 as they say!

Solid. This passed every picky eater in my fam - particularly my Baby Bear, who is a lot more like Goldilocks. He LOVES carnitas so I consider him a connoisseur. LOL This spot might be our new spot for carnitas and tacos! We ordered takeout but I went to pick it up. I was pleasantly surprised to find a really nice, new, open restaurant so next time we are going to dine-in for sure! We got the Carnitas family meal along with a couple Quesabirria tacos for the kiddo. He loved it all and literally ate (2) Quesabirria Tacos and I think (3) carnitas tacos. We live in Eastside SJ so there is no shortage of taco spots. He said this is a good one. Portions are good, food is great, and restaurant is nice. Adding to regular rotation!

Wife and I came here not too long ago and was great. I came here before to get a burrito and was one of the best I've had. The carnitas were juicy and had tons of flavor. Because of that, had to bring the wife to show what she's missing out on. We came here and got the carnitas family meal. The meal comes with a whole kit to make tacos at your table as you can see from picture. Again, the damn carnitas were so freakin good. I've had carnitas from a lot of places but so far, this one takes the cake. I gave this place a 4 because I wish they had a little more alcoholic drinks. (Me being picky sorry). I also ordered a michelada for the wife and chavela for me. However I think we got 2 micheladas as my chavela had tomato juice in it... either way .. a drinks a drink and was still tasty. The only small downfall was the guacamole. It was around 8$, was super tiny, and really only tasted like avocados. Needed more salt, lemon and goodies in there to boost the flavor. Wouldn't get this again most likely.

Chicharon

Stopped by this restaurant for late lunch. It was busy when we arrived. The restaurant is famous for carnitas and chicharon. We order carnitas plate one lbs, chicaron and chimichanga. The carnitas and chicharon is by lbs. The chicharon is very fresh from the fryer. All are yummy. The carnitas is tender. It comes with fre fried tortilla and salsa. The salsa and tortilla is yummy. We feel satisfied after the meal. Service could be improved as looks like the server forgot our carnitas order and we have to remind the person.

Hello Itzel, I love your food. I want to put in a big order for a party in San Jose near your restaurant. How can I confirm the order? Should I make a deposit? Can we meet to complete the order?…

You should call the business and ask to speak to the manager. I don't know how often they see these questions so it might be too late for your party by the time they see it. Hope you get what you're looking for!

Are you the same as the one in Gilroy?

Hello Linsey Yes, we are the same family restaurant. Thanks for asking.

Is there a catering menu with prices?

I’m sorry not at the momen, but if you have questions please call us at (408)809-7935.

I ordered 5 super tacos to share with different meats (pollo, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and chorizo). The super tacos come with cilantro, onions, avocado, sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo. All the tacos come with homemade corn tortillas - you could tell they were fresh. The tacos are big, not small at all. The carne asada, carnitas and pollo was my favorite. Al pastor was good as well, chorizo was not that flavorful for me. However, they also have 3 types of salsas (green, red and a creamy orange) you can use to help add some more flavor if needed. I plan to come back here to try their burritos and tortas as well next time.

We ordered 2x Carne Asada Taco 7/10 2x Al Pastor 7/10 Asada Burrito Bowl 7/10 Enchiladas with Rojo Sauce 7/10 The burrito bowl was good, but for the price point you may be better off going to Chipotle, I felt that the burrito bowl was a bit soggy. The tacos were good and the tortilla they used was quite thick. The enchiladas had good flavor as well, and I would be interested in trying their enchilada with the verde sauce next time. Their prices have steadily risen over time and they have updated their menu prices as well. One thing that elevated this restaurant to 4 stars is their sauce! The red sauce and green sauce recipe is definitely unique compared to other taquerias. The red sauce bottle helps with the flavor tremendously and without it I would have rated this place lower.

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. There was only one server working and she was really hustling to meet everyone's needs. Plus, she was friendly. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

It's been a while, so we decided to check out ZR for a late lunch…read more We found parking easily, but we had to wait a little bit before someone came by to seat us. We were seated at the booth in the back, which I have always admired, but I now realize it has its disadvantages. It is right by the bathroom, which got a bit of traffic on our visit. That's not such a big deal. The bigger concerns I have are: (1) there is no cushioning for those of us with little of our own and (2) you have to sit up fairly straight and if you want to lean against the wall, you're likely to rub shoulders with the wall hanging. Next time I will ask to be seated someplace else as there were two 2-tops outside. The food is always made from quality ingredients and I'm glad to see they are experimenting with pricing and quantity. I did not see mention of their daily happy hour, which was a feature of last year's visit so that may be gone. However, they now have a five tacos platter which offers relatively good value from the menu prices. This would be good for sharing for two people I think. But that is not what we ordered on this visit. My wife ordered two vegetarian (verduras) tacos and the Blood Orange/Jalapeno mocktail. I ordered the huevos rancheros. Unlike Luna, tortilla chips and salsa are not complimentary. So we let our appetites build. Our food arrived fairly quickly, so that was good and we dug in. My wife had ordered two extra eggs (extra charge) to accompany her tacos, and I think she was glad she did. The vegetarian tacos were not terribly generous for the price. My huevos rancheros came in a neatly stacked pile. My wife thought to ask if they had a hot sauce and they do! So we requested their hottest version. It was a welcome addition to the meal (gratis). A little vinegary, but plenty of heat. The mocktail was quite good. Like Spindrift and some other sparkling waters, it is not sweetened, but it had a good amount of strained blood orange juice, and you could taste the fresh jalapeño. I wonder if they have tried adding mint to this as I think it would be welcome. Maybe next time I will ask if they can experiment with me by adding some mint.

It was very loud inside as I think they were making pico and using the multipurpose chopper. It got so loud at one point that we couldn't even talk with each other without having to practically scream. The decoration is beautiful though and feels like you're at a Mexican mom's fancy kitchen. Service was not good at all. We had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order taken and then we watched our food stand on the counter top for another 5 minutes. Once we were served we were never checked up on until the end when we had to flag them down to get the check. I don't think we'll be coming back.

This made it so seamless to reserve here. Our group got there at opening and our table was ready and most of the group was already seated when we got there. Drink orders were flowing as the waitress caught up to me and I got a cafe de olla. We browsed the menu and the more I looked the harder it was to pick one thing. I ended up choosing chilaquiles with a bandera sauce and carne asada as the added protein. The rest of the table got all different types of dishes from carne en su jugo to birria to omelettes. While we enjoyed each other's company sipping on our cafecito I enjoyed the ambiance of the space. Nicely decorated for the holidays. Since it was opening time it wasn't as loud as I imagine it can get in there. The sun did shine on the faces of those facing the windows which was not enjoyable for them. There was no way to cover the sun either since it was coming in from the top windows with no shade. My food came out along with the rest of the plates and we went right in to enjoy them. My favorite chilaquiles was covered in the white sauce. The red and green were good but the white sauce was my favorite. The carne was cooked well but I could taste it wasn't marinated or lacked flavor. I didn't get a knife to cut the meat so it was very difficult to enjoy a piece with my chilaquiles. It was hard to cut with a butter knife. I thought it would be a piece of steak but it was a piece of carne asada. Eggs were scrambled and cooked well. The whole plate was filling, had flavor, and was a good portion. The cafe de olla had a good flavor but a tad sweet for my preference. The space in here is a vibe. A fun place to enjoy large gatherings. I came for breakfast but will update when I come back to visit for dinner. Bathrooms are clean. Staff was welcoming and efficient in taking care of our group. Hospitality was a 10/10. Parking in the am was a breeze but at prime time I can see it being a complete nightmare so plan accordingly. I enjoyed my visit and will come back to check out the dinner menu.

Sip Happens... and So Does a Solid Taco Night…read more My husband, daughter, and I were in the mood to shake things up with margaritas somewhere new, and our daughter pointed us toward Copita Tequileria y Comida. As we cruised by looking for parking, it was clear we had picked a lively spot--buzzing energy everywhere: inside, outside, and even upstairs. We were quickly seated indoors, though on such a beautiful day we assumed we'd be offered outdoor seating. No big deal--we asked, and they happily moved us to a shaded table with plenty of space. Much better. Drinks were first on the agenda: margaritas and a michelada, all refreshing and exactly what we were hoping for. Our server, Michelle, was friendly, attentive, and even shared some helpful tips about perks with our American Express Platinum Card--a nice, unexpected touch. We kicked things off with queso fundido, though a brief mix-up brought us chips and guacamole from another table first. Once we pointed it out, it was quickly handled--but honestly, it looked so good we ended up ordering it anyway. No regrets there--it definitely hit the spot. We hadn't planned on a full dinner, so we went with lighter bites. The tuna tostadas and halibut ceviche were a hit--fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. I went with the tortilla soup, which was good and nicely presented... but didn't quite wow me. I've been on a bit of a tortilla soup tour lately, and this one leaned a little heavy on the tortillas (soaking up too much broth) and had more zucchini than I expected. That said, major points for serving it piping hot--something a lot of places miss--and the avocado was a great addition. One thing worth noting: I didn't catch it until later, but there's a 4% living wage surcharge added to the bill--and it's taxed. That caught me off guard, and I'm still not entirely sure how that works in California. Overall, a fun, energetic spot with great drinks, tasty bites, and solid service. Not perfect, but definitely good enough to come back for another round.

Yay for mom and pop eats :) Well, I was introduced to this place by my best friend, but I never carried cash to go, so I never tried it until another friend of mine mentioned the Blossom Hill location and them accepting credit card payment! (Yay, but let's not get carried away). I came on a Tuesday evening with friends and saw the place packed! Thats always a good sign~ We each ordered an individual dish to eat and chat. I was intrigued by the burrito bowl and worried it may be small. Jokes on me, it was way more than enough! Don't let the size of the bowl trick you into thinking it's not enough. The avocado was nice and perfectly ripe, the crema sauce drizzle was not overwhelmingly added onto the ball, and the salsa had a nice acid and tomatoey compliment to the beans, meat, shredded lettuce, rice, and cheese! I think this place is pretty solid for the price point and quality. They also have a free for all sauce bar too which is nice! Everything is so spicy, except for the green salsa lol. Servers seemed okay. They didn't really check on us, but it feels like a service yourself kind of place. You grab your own waters, condiments, and sauce here. If you want their chunky mango salsa, you have to flag a server down! However, 1 star is knocked off for the credit card charge, which I'm not even sure what the percentage is. I didn't see a sign at the register or perhaps I didn't look hard enough. I think this should be mentioned on the door and possibly their menu (if it isn't already). Can someone confirm if the credit card charge is 3%? Even my receipt wasn't clearly mentioning the percentage--just the fact that there's a credit card processing fee.
