There was no line at the carneceria and the butcher was quick to help us when we went up to the meat counter. Carneceria Meats Purchased: Short-ribs, Carne Asada (marinated) I know that you can't control how fatty the ribs are at times but they gave us very good pieces of short-ribs where we didn't have to trim them too much nor did we have to throw pieces away due to the fat. Asada was average price ($16.99) but it was very good Their tomatillo salsa was so good. Perfectly spicy. Their chicharrones were also a hit. I was able to pick up every thing we needed for a quick BBQ. Tortillas, tomatoes, beer...it was nice to have a market so small, have it all. Def will be back.

It is part of a small Mexican supermarket which had a different name before so not sure how long this new ownership has been here. They cook and have the set up in the front of store under a tent but they do have a kitchen inside the market. You go inside the market by side door and order inside then you take your ticket to the outside tent where they have the menudo pot and condiments and they get you served up. They have a couple of fold up tables under tents for you to eat there but most of the people were taking it to go and so did I. They also have carnitas by the pound, tamales, and a variety of tacos of lengua, cabeza, carnitas and birria. We got two menudos to go and it was perfectly cooked, meat was clean tasting and tender and broth was excellent. This menudo does not have grano or homily but we added some at home and my menudo I ordered with Pata which is the foot part or hoof of cow a glutenous mix of tendon and meat which is traditional in menudo. if you don't know the meat in menudo is tripe. They had the three types of tripe in this menudo honeycomb, book and blanket. The menudo tastes very similar too my menudo so they definitely use Epazote herb. There were 10 to 12 people there and more coming so they serve until the pot runs out. Tacos looked very good so next time will get some while I wait. Service and food a definitely 4.5. The market was small but well stocked and the meat at the carnicería looked fresh and it was very clean so next time I will buy some meat for bbq while I wait for my menudo to go. You can get sodas which they sell inside the store and the tortillas are hand made but I think you have to ask for them as I did not get any with the order. I had some freshly hand made tortillas waiting at home which we paired with refried beans with cheese which you roll up and eat along with the menudo. Great find and can't wait to come back and try the other food. Not sure if this stand is only in the weekends or if it is open all the time. Usually menudo is only sold on weekends so I would assume that but not sure.

This is the best way to buy meat because most of the time butchers at the store have it presliced and prepackaged and the juices (blood) drains if the meat and it no longer tastes fresh. I threw it on the grill and seasoned it and it was the best carne asada I've ever tasted. So I highly recommend you buy your meat here. If you don't see what you want in the cold case, don't be discouraged and tell him what you want and more than likely they will have it. Their meat and fish dept is on par, price-wise, with major supermarkets, most of the time. I might pay $.40 a pound, more for catfish in season, but the price doesn't change out of season. Year-round, it's the same. (I'd buy fish here before I would at Save-Mart or O'Briens!!) I also don't have to drive 7 miles down the road for the $.40 cheaper per pound, price, for frozen stuff. Gas costs! I definitely don't have to put up with fish that doesn't look or taste as well as what I buy locally. I can examine each and every piece of meat or fish that I buy there. No packages hiding huge pieces of fat underneath or smelly fish. If anyone has a problem with the butcher part of the store, no worries. They take great pride in the meats & fish that are carried now. I have actually been told, once, that I could not buy the poultry that I wanted, as it wasn't fresh enough. I bypass supermarket fish, catfish & produce to purchase from here. You can not beat it for taste and price. Owners are very friendly and very helpful. Staff speaks fluent English as well.
