The person said that they could send a repair man the next day which was Sunday. I was so nervous since I was trapped in the house. BEWARE - Carmichael Garage Door showed up - no truck - no business card - no tee shirt - nothing but a quote to change out rollers and springs for $4,200 - then the guy went down to $3,000 and then $1,800. Told him to get off the property. 30 minutes later another guy showed up saying we got scammed by someone who intercepted the phone call to the business and showed up posing as if he worked for the company - even though the first guy showed up with parts! So the 2nd guy says the first guy was a scammer. Right like some high-tech audio interceptor with garage door parts is waiting for that big repair job over the air waves lol. The 2nd guy said we only need springs for $380. Neither wrote up an invoice for that amount money. Told him we will get a second opinion. Then my husband got a 3rd text from the company stating the tech was due to arrive later in the day. Beware. What a convoluted idiotic scam those workers are pulling. read more

I've used this company's services twice. Once I called them a few years ago because my garage door was making some bad noises opening and closing. I had the springs and rollers replaced and it was as good as new. A few years later my door has another bad noise and some trouble opening. (I knew that the motor was about 30 years old and on its last legs). The tech showed me that my "clutch" had also also gone bad because the door would not auto stop when hit by an obstruction. Time for a new motor unfortunately. I was impressed that this company only carries quality parts. My wife and I picked a motor with a 5-year warranty and what a massive improvement!! Not only does the door glide open and closed but it gently closes itself at the end. I know that things today aren't made like they were used to. There is no way we will get 30 years out of the new motor, but at least I know we are warranted for 5. Excellent service. read more

Not only did he fix the issue, but he also made the whole system run smoother, quieter, and much safer. The difference is night and day--our door is now whisper-quiet and no longer shakes the house when it opens. After hooking it back up to the automatic opener, he spent almost one hour trying to replicate the problem, but couldn't. It was magically working again. He proceeded to inspect the motor and the sensors and found everything to be in good condition despite the system's age. I don't recommend this company because of price gouging and noncommunication after the service. My garage spring broke on a Saturday, they arrived in a quick time frame however they charge me $700 for two springs. They also wanted to do almost $1000 in additional work and I said no since I was out of town and my house sitter was there. When I returned home, I called my garage repair company as well as the company that installed the system and both quoted me $350-$400 for replacement of the two springs not $700 and there was no additional work that needed to be done. I reached out to the company twice and left a message for the manager to call me over the last 2 1/2 weeks with no return phone call ! They're overpriced!!! read more

I recently (2.5.24) had an appointment set up for Carmichael Garage Door to come out and service my garage door opener between 2-6pm. At 5pm I called and asked if we were still on for the appointment. "Yes, still on the schedule the dispatcher will call 30 minutes prior to arrival". At 6:30 pm I called and got ahold of someone else who said I was scheduled for 2.6.24 by mistake also between 2-6pm. On the morning of the 6th I called to confirm the appointment from "pending to booked". Around 5pm with still no tech onsite I called to be sure there wasnt another scheduling error, "no, you are still on the schedule". About 15 minutes later I got a call back saying the tech was still working on the job before me and wouldn't make it, did I want to schedule for Wednesday? I mentioned to them that they had made me stay home two days in a row waiting on the tech, they weren't getting my business. I also mentioned that I thought I should have been a priority after the days before fiasco... I am moving on to the next company, Carmichael Garage Doors has lost my business. When I called on a Sunday, I was surprised that someone answered. The gal who answered was ready to send someone that afternoon, but I wasn't going to be home so next available was Monday 10-1. Someone will call from an 800# to confirm you are home (ok, don't miss their call). Well, Monday at 12:40 no one called to see if I was home, so I called. The gal (not entirely the best at customer service) said the technician was running late. Hmm, I said a call letting me know that would have been appreciated...since I HAVE BEEN WAITING. She offered a weak apology and said they can get me into the 2-5:30pm window. Or, Tuesday. WHAT? What happened to my 10-1 window. I had to insist I be next, was told they will call when on the way. I got a text and voicemail. The text gives you a bit to reply or they don't come. I called back and was told the guy will be here in 45mins. The technician gets 5 stars. He showed up close to 2pm, immidiately noticed the spring was broke, said it'll be $499 plus another part for $20. Yikes. Said he would be done in an hour. He was fast, polite and did a good job. The warranty is 30 days for labor/3 years for parts. Not sure if the price was fair or not, I just needed my door to work and now it does. read more

They answered right away, and set an appt for an hour from the call. Got a follow-up call and then the technician, Matias, nice gentleman quickly assessed the problem. We worked through all of the details and I requested a few more things than was needed due to the age of the door. He had all of the parts with him, handled everything within an hour and a half. I needed a new garage door opener. A colleague recommended Carmichael Garage Door with a warning that it's probably a tad higher in price. Thats alright - I'm all for supporting local businesses. My first appointment was scheduled for the afternoon between 2 and 6p. Around 5:30p I got a call that the tech wasn't going to make it. Fine...so I asked to be scheduled for the first appointment the following day. All I could be guaranteed was between 8a-10a. Again...fine... Tech arrived and was nice, but the first thing he recommended was replacing the springs. I had replaced them a year or two prior, so no thanks. Then he said the new garage door opener + installation would be $1,100 for the base option or $1,249 for the deluxe, but also offered $200 off. I know openers cost around $350-$500 from Lowe's, so that's ~$600-$700 of labor. I said no thanks, there's no way that is realistic. He offered to price match whatever other offer I get. I instead found a different company who installed a new opener for half of Carmichael Garage Door's quote and has worked perfectly for the past two months. I do not recommend. read more
