Visited Carmen Jones last night with my family. We'd originally planned to go next door to Coco's, but being a party of six on a Friday night, the wait was long, so we opted for the much quieter Carmen Jones.
Our starters arrived and were delicious. Smoked eggplant dip was great. However, we ordered a bottle of rosé and it was room temperature. We told them and they gave us ice to put in it.
After not an overly long wait, four of our main dishes arrived. We were told the other two (spaghetti and meatballs) wouldn't be long, and since my partner was very hungry, I told him to start. Three quarters of the way through his burger the waiter came over to tell us they'd given him the wrong burger.
While we were still waiting for our remaining dishes, we ordered another bottle of wine, specifying that the previous bottle wasn't cold. They told us they had just filled the fridge (it was about 8pm Friday evening) and could we leave it in the ice bucket for ten minutes.
By the time our spaghetti arrived, my partner had finished his meal and the others were almost done. The pasta was over cooked, and the dish was nothing special.
Paying the bill, my step father nicely agreed to pay for all drinks, and told them at the register. They saw the two bottles of wine on the bill, but thought it was a mistake. When I, the last one went to pay my share, they informed me there was still a bottle to pay, so my step father had to go back and take care of it.
For all the mistakes, I feel they should have offered something to us, and all we received was a weak apology about the wait on the spaghetti. Definitely the kitchen and wait staff need to work on their organisation, as the whole experience left us with an overall unpleasant feeling. read more
