This is technically a residence for the University of Granada in what used to be an old convent, but I'm reviewing the restaurant here.
Walking past the entrance on the street, you'd have no idea this beautiful complex of gardens and water and unreal view of the Alhambra existed! If you're not staying in Albaicin and coming from far away, it's worth it to make a reservation. I came with here with a Spaniard around 10pm, and when he rang the bell, the first response was "You don't have a reservation." My friend asked again, and the second response was "Sorry the kitchen is closing soon." My friend asked a third time if there was any possible way for 2 people to eat there, and he let us in in the end. Ha, in Spain sometimes you gotta politely insist.
The inside is mysterious and lovely and just covered with fruit trees, cypress trees, and the balcony has stunning views of the Alhambra. It looks like this is also a place where they do shows and presentations. Because the restaurant is mostly for the students and visiting professors who stay here, it's kind of low key and not your typical restaurant experience, BUT, this also means it's way cheaper and you still get delicious food. There was not an actual menu, but rather the waitress verbally told us all of the fresh items available that night - there were at least 3 appetizers and 3 main dishes to choose from.
For 26 Euros total, the two of us shared:
-4 glasses of wine
-2 appetizers (large soup and a giant "empanada" with tuna and tomatoes)
-2 main courses (oxtail stew - rabo de toro, & cod - bacalao)
-Arroz con leche dessert and tea infusion
My favorites were the rabo de toro (which was accompanied with delicious, lightly crispy and very garlicky artichoke and potatoes), and the empanada.
We had to get out of there by 11:30pm as they were closing, so I'd recommend coming earlier to not rush and to give yourself time to wander around the gardens and admire the view. read more
