My husband and I stayed here with our pup. The front office staff was so helpful and friendly . They had great suggestions for restaurants . The complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise . We were allowed to bring our pup inside to eat. On the weekends they had a hot dish along with yogurt parfaits, croissants , fruit, hard boiled eggs. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the hot tub. Our suite was dated as people have mentioned but having a functional kitchen was awesome . We loved the fireplace and living area to watch TV. Being across the way from a dog park was convenient . Restaurants were walking distance . Loved our stay ! Will be back !!!

What a charming place to spend the weekend. You could tell that the staff had so much pride and the place had such a family vibe. Each morning we had a home cooked breakfast which was delicious. Also, the weather in the valley was sunny, which was such a plus! I'll be back!

We stayed here because we were attending a wedding nearby. I am not sure how they can justify their room rate when it was really a sort of motel with minor upgrades. An air conditioner recently installed!! The mattress was way too soft. One pillow was very lumpy!! All sorts of wierd towels , two in a bag said for cleaning? Another said for makeup removal. The grounds are pretty and the continental breakfast was a nice surprise . Signs in room asking for tipping ?! Furnishings very dated . I am not sure I'd recommend this place but it's Carmel Valley and the choices are not numerous .

Very adorable property! Clean and comfortable rooms. Fantastic complimentary breakfast.

I had the best weekend at Carmel valley lodge. This is a family run hotel run like a BnB. I had a two bedroom suite that felt like a cabin cottage and was perfect for a girls trip. Heater worked well for the winter. We took advantage of the hot tub and fire pits. Breakfast on weekends included delicious frittata. There was an ice machine and pretty artwork throughout. And we even did a yoga class with the owner as an instructor which was a great day. Location is walking distance to tap rooms/wineries. We can't wait to come back when it's warmer and we can use the pool. Friendly owners, and a great experience.

Stayed at the Carmel Valley Lodge for the wedding of my niece. It's a cute, quaint lodge. Most of the workers are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and have a nice electric fireplace in them. Parking is easy and close to the units. They do have a nice complimentary breakfast. The hotel needs updating desperately. There is no maid service. You can request they bring you fresh towels and let them know you have trash, on the porch, to be dumped. There was mold in the shower and the bathroom window doesn't lock. They don't make the beds while you are there. I found it ironic that they place a tip envelope in the rooms to tip someone who doesn't come. In addition to the above, the heater in our room was not working...the heater was set at 60* but kept pumping to, at least, 90*. When I brought it to their attention, I was asked, "didn't they fix it yesterday?" My reply was I have no idea since we checked in yesterday. The did offer to move our stuff to a new room while we were at the wedding. That was a no from us. A very RUDE man came over later with a floor heater, wouldn't listen to what I was trying to explain. Clicked his dentures a few times, dropped the heater off and left. They have no one to fix anything on the weekends. While I was reporting our issue another wedding guest came in to inform them that they had an overflowing toilet. Like I said, they need to update. Restaurants are close by as are boutique stores. Cute town! I hope they work on updating...would have been a golden opportunity during Covid shut downs.

Fun to walk around this property.

I'm very confused by some of these reviews. We must have been given the nicest room they have because I loved our comfortable, clean, spacious 2 bedroom. The shower head was a bit weird and could have been updated but the drain and the water temp/pressure was fine. The grounds were pretty. I loved the maintained gardens and the unique plants. My kids loved the huge chess set and the reading dragon. Because we were at multiple wedding events we didn't get to enjoy the pool and I'm hoping to bring them back for that. The gift shop was quirky and the breakfast was decent and included. It is also walking distance to the little downtown area and a bunch of restaurants. I love this place. It's not commercial and it's not insanely priced or snobby.

The pictures online are deceiving. They look much better than the actual location. The room was dingy and the furnishings were old. The room i stayed in was dirty with dust on the baseboards. I expected a gas fireplace but it was an electric fireplace. The heating /ac unit sounds like a car engine when it runs. Woke me up every time it started up during the night. The window in the bathroom doesn't close with ease. The pocket door for the sink area doesn"t close properly. When you walk on the shower area the door just about opens into the water closet. The staff was apologetic foe the accommodations but didn't do anything to make my stay more accommodating. Dont waste your money on this place. I came back in the early evening and my room was never made up. When I voiced my concerns, the front desk girl said you need to request room service. I've stayed in many hotels and this is the first time I heard of this policy Do yourself a favor and stay away. Not worth the money. I would have been more comfortable in my car.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage and it was just perfect for 4 adults and 1 toddler. We brought a crib for the toddler. The living room and kitchen were perfect size. The pool was heated at 85* in June and the hott tub was 104*. Clean and steps from the cottage. Juliana was so helpful every time I called with questions. They have a continental breakfast from 8-10am. Coffee, juice, scones and yogurt. That kinda thing. Parking is right by the cottage. See my pictures. We can't wait to stay there again.

Location: beautiful breathtaking views tucked away in a mountain valley, it is a perfect spot to get away from the hustle and bustle from city noise pollution and high populations. Customer service: there are only 1-2 check in desks, where they spend about 10-20 minutes with each customer explaining the property amenities, location of room, events, etc. when you've been traveling all day, every minute feels like a lifetime. Restaurant: there is only one full service, sit in restaurant that gets booked very fast especially for dinner. Plan ahead and make a reservation in advance for every night you plan to stay on campus and eat there, otherwise, expect to wait until 8 pm or drive to the nearby restaurants which include a Subway, pizza joint, or a small Vietnamese restaurant. Earthbound Organic Farm is a great alternative option for a small breakfast or lunch bites. There is another Mexican restaurant nearby. Clientele in the mornings consist of rowdy children and their inconsiderate parents. I recommend asking to be seated outside if you have well mannered children and want to eat in peace. Rooms: mediocre clean. For being a Hyatt affiliated hotel, I had higher expectations, rooms are carpeted with wooden floors and heavy rugs. This resort is pet friendly so if you have someone in the family that suffers from allergies or has a very sensitive nose, this is not the best place to stay. As most Californian hotels that have carpeting, you can smell odors in the carpeting and linen. When things got hot and humid in our room, I got a nice whiff of dog. Basically any pet friendly hotel means that your linens will be washed with dog poo or other animal fluids. Rooms are only dusted at eye level but if you're someone that is concerned about dust mites, be prepared to get a showering of dust mites on bed, where the headboards reach 6' high and hold lots of lovely layers of dust. Coffee pot is sad and comparable to a motel 6 version with blah coffee, and lastly the beds are super firm with no ability to adjust (like other Hyatt holidays offer), and pillows are huge and uncomfortable. Foam alternative is slightly softer but still too high for a back sleeper or stomach sleeper. Bathroom: limited. They do provide tiny handwashing bars of soap made of lavender, and provide a tiny sample sac of lavender salt to use in tub but for those with allergies, best to request an alternative if any. Shower corners contain black mold. Refrigerators: our room had a tiny refrigerator that could hardly fit anything and doesn't cool sufficiently so for those moms packing extra healthy snacks for your kids, consider your fridge useless. All the strawberries, yogurts and hummus we purchased made it straight to the trash. Room patio: dirty and useless. There was a couple of upholstered seats and one table on our patio that could not be enjoyed as they were filled with dirt, dust and leaves. Would I stay here again? No - due to the pet issue for me. Most Californians love their pets and don't mind staying in places that wreak of dog butts that they've habituated to. Like I said, my husband had good intentions but there were too many issues that made it undesirable for me.

Complementary activities like cheese tasting and s'mores were highlights. for my child. That said, the stay felt "middle of the road." Room amenities are limited (no mini bar or snacks), the property is spread out, and dining options are tricky with limited hours. Room service was slow (2.5 hrs!) zero communication on the delivery and when arrived it was 100% incorrect. It would be nice if they offered a mini bar of the items they sell at the lobby market. If it was in-room we would of bought it all. The main restaurant was excellent! Yogurt with granola, beet salad, and lobster ravioli stood out. The cocktails were amazing. The poolside and early-morning food options could improve. We came with our kid, the family pool opened early but no food or drink service so we had to drive back up to the lobby. 1st world problems I know, but this is a 5 star resort, and basic details were missed. Later, we ordered the fried chicken sando for lunch and it was just gross, and tasted like a frozen tysons chicken patty. CVR has a lot to offer, but it falls short of a true 5-star experience.

Putting aside the price itself, the far bigger issue was how incredibly rude and dismissive she was toward my wife during the conversation. After we expressed concerns, we were referred to the General Manager. I emailed the GM and heard absolutely nothing for over a week despite leaving multiple voicemails. After trying a third time, I finally received a return phone call. I was told my email was never received. We explained how poorly the event coordinator treated us and that we had specifically been directed to management. Initially, the GM seemed understanding. She spoke about how small the kitchen is and how larger parties can impact other guests' experiences. She said she'd try to help, recommend alternative venues if needed, and asked me to email details again. I thought we were finally making progress. Then things somehow got worse. After sending the email, I received what was obviously an accidental phone call. During the call, the GM appeared to be speaking with a colleague and was talking negatively about me for absolutely no reason. I heard comments about how she receives lots of emails and assumes many are spam until someone sends a second email, and that she handles voicemails similarly. Hearing that level of disregard for guests regardless of how serious or beneficial the inquiry might be for the business was honestly shocking. At that point, any chance of earning our business disappeared. Even if I receive an apology, I will never spend a dollar at this establishment. The ownership seriously needs to evaluate the management team because I've never felt so disrespected by a restaurant in my life. Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish. Unfortunately can't say anything about the food and never will.
