Holden is very nice! I pinched a nerve in my back, struggling to bend or move at all. My tire was really low but couldnt get myself to bend over to put air in the tire. Have yet the need for mechanical service, but have used their other services for smog check, tire repair and battery service/replacement. They have always been friendly and efficient with reasonable pricing. Of special note was an incident when my car had a dead battery. I called them for a jump, hoping that even "after hours" they may help. Without hesitation they came to my house, gave me a jump at no charge, and left. Wonderful service! I have an older model car, and they offered advice as to how to get my check engine light to turn off (which worked). They not only performed the smog check but did a quick review on my car's engine, plus fixed a clogged windshield fluid sprayer for my front windscreen at no additional charge. Fantastic Customer Service! Would definitely recommend. My husband and I traveled to Carmel Valley for the weekend and when we got here, noticed one of our tires was low. We had hit some debris on the way and thought we may have punctured the tire. We called Carmel Valley Auto Service and were able to get an appointment right away. I have brought my car several times over the past 8 or so years. I find them very easy to work with, honest, and they do good work. This time around, the blower motor for the AC in my car wasn't working. I checked the fuses, and I was going to just replace the blower motor and resistor myself, but then thought it would take me too long to get the parts, etc. I took it in without an appointment and then confirmed what I thought and replaced the motor. read more

This is the best independent auto service garage I have ever found. Totally honest, professional and efficient. Very easy to deal with and very knowledge when diagnosing a problem. I have taken my 2007 Ford Explorer and 2006 Infiniti Q45 there and have never been disappointed by this family run enterprise. Unfortunately, I gave this place a really good review in 2019 after they fixed a punctured tire that I had. since then I've gone back several times each time with a bad experience. I'm finding the place to be not only overpriced but I go in for one thing and suddenly they try to put a bunch of other charges on for things that I don't even need. I had some new tires put on my car by them very recently and they're already telling me I have to have them rotated even though the tires are new. Now they refuse to reset my oil maintenance light after they did the oil change because I didn't have the other services they recommended..so now it looks like I'm way overdue for my oil change even though the overdue mileage it shows now is completely inaccurate. Wow, called to see if they had a battery for my car. Even though they were about to close, they volunteered to stay open until I could get there. We cannot say enough good things about Carmel Valley Auto Repair!! This is truly the best experience we've had with an auto repair shop in almost 50 years. We live in Sacramento and we were visiting family in Carmel when suddenly our car wouldn't go over 20 miles per hour. We were stranded in an unfamiliar place without transportation for the remainder of our vacation. We contacted Carmel Valley Auto Repair from the top ten rated auto service shops (some not so helpful, unfortunately). Carmel Valley Auto said they would look at our car the same day. Much to our surprise, given the amount of business they had, they repaired it that same day for an extremely reasonable price. The car runs better than it has for a long time. We have never worked with a more thoughtful and gracious shop (appears to be family owned and operated). This family is very knowledgeable, experienced, honest, thoughtful, and responsive to customer concerns. We've used this place many times over the past few years, and they were always great. However ... Something has changed. My wife used them for a smog check, and they sold her all sorts of things that were totally unrelated to the smog check, and that we didn't need. Then, several weeks later, I had to take a second car there for a smog check, and because of the problems my wife had, I decided to take this car myself. As soon as he started filling out the paperwork, he was telling me all sorts of things about my car that were not true, and was trying to imply that my catalytic converter, which I'd had installed just one year earlier, was installed fraudulently and by a mechanic that didn't know what he was doing. He made these statements while standing next to the car, thirty seconds after walking up, and without any inspection whatsoever. I know I must sound like a guy with a screw loose, but it really did happen this way. I looked at the guy and told him I was not going to do business with him, and I drove away. Take your business elsewhere, or if you must do business with them, follow the advice the referee gives the boxers just before the match, "protect yourself at all times." read more
