Bottom line: They located and fixed the leak problem. They also found a rusted oil pan and repaired it (at a lower cost vs my previous Mercedes repair place who had also reported the oil pan issue)! After a recent positive experience using Yelp's "Project" feature, I decided to turn to Yelp again when a warning light in my car came on and I needed to get it checked out and Firestone had, as usual, disappointed me. So, I posted the specifics of what I needed and waited for responses. Carmel Auto Group was the first response. They were friendly, precise, and offered a direct price along with a time they could do it. As I couldn't go right away due to work obligations, I told them I would be there at opening on Saturday. I arrived about 15 minutes before the scheduled time. The owner (I'm assuming) arrived a couple of minutes late, but immediately acknowledged that (which was no big deal) and explained it. As someone who likes to get settled in at work when I arrive, I appreciated his willingness to jump in right away. Arriving early gave me a chance to check out the lot a bit given the age of my car, however, I'm not currently in the market. That said, I liked the available vehicles and accessible pricing. We chatted for a couple of minutes and he went about the primary task - an engine diagnostic. He was able to determine the problem with a fair amount of specificity. The appointment wasn't for an actual repair - simply a diagnostic as I was fairly certain it was a basic issue. He was able to address the light and make concrete recommendations that would further address and help prevent any recurrence. This area is in the Homeplace area of Carmel and has become one of the latest areas for roundabouts. We discussed the negative impact of the roundabout construction on business in what is really an already quiet area. While this may sound like it's building toward increased charges, instead the diagnostic ended up being less intensive than expected and my final price actually ended up being lower than the estimate. It was a definite display of ethics and honesty that I appreciated given expenses around my own cancer journey right now and my need to make sure the car stays reliable. This wasn't a major visit by any means, however, it was most certainly a positive one. We discussed my possibly returning for a tune-up (one of the recommendations), but I appreciated there was no hard-sell. This was a positive experience in every way and I would definitely return whether for another repair or to consider a used vehicle. read more

Went in to get my Spark Plugs and ignition coil replaced because my regular mechanic was 2 weeks out and made me come pick up my car! and the in the process of the owner working on my car. I came out the bathroom and he told me he accidentally broke my overflow hose and tried to blame it on corrosion in the hose and said It should happen when you were driving on the freeway and made me pay for the parts! He got mad when I said I wasn't going to pay for what he broke and blew up I didn't feel safe so I called my parents to come down! when finished he said if you hire someone to do your roof and they fall in does the company have to pay for it and little did he know yes they would have too pay to fix it! Sorry you got burned from the coolant but if you were more professional that would have never happened. also took my car to a different mechanic and they also verified you can brake that part of the water pump very easily when removing coil! Crazy part Is If I was trying to get out of paying for the whole thing I could of screwed him over when he left me in his office by myself to go pick up a different car and the parts for a fat minute. They are not very good with the customer they charge you too much and each part of the vehicle they charge super expensive they say that it has a failed part then they come out with another the truth I don't recommend then you ask for a receipt for the part that is damaged and they don't give it they say they lost it read more

I worked with Carmel Auto Service department and let me tell you, they are second to none. I lost the master key to my 2005 Toyota Sequoia & spent 2 weeks calling local locksmiths, dealers & even Toyota directly for assistance. After 30 conversations & hearing a multitude of conflicting resolutions; NOTHING WORKED. The dealer, where I bought the vehicle from, said I needed to purchase a new ECM (Electronic Control Module) to the tune of $800-$900 dollars. Really? For a new key? I finally caught a break & googled Carmel Auto Group. I explained what I was going through. He offered to do some research on the matter & called me back within the hour. He not only proved the dealer's resolution to be incorrect, but he personally offered to come to my home on his own time to fix the issue at a fraction of the price. VERY IMPRESSED!! Recently went to see and test drive a vehicle here. Problem 1. Car was on E and and when we stopped at a gas station and called them, we had to take the car back and then wait while they went and got gas. Problem 2. Guy said A/C worked...never cooled down. We drove it about 20 mins. Problem 3. Check engine light on. but when we asked we were told it was an o2 sensor. I know it's used and won't be perfect. Stopped at a parts store and had them check the code. Far from an o2 sensor... it was a timing problem. Which turns out is a very pricey repair in that vehicle. I wouldn't say not to go there just make sure to have the vehicle checked out before you hand over money or sign a contract. read more

Stay away from this dealership. We purchased a used car that they knew we were taking out of state for our son to take to college and were assured it was reliable and in good shape. As soon as he got to college we spent $$$ in repairs, brake line went out on the highway,struts blblown,leaking oil. He brought the car back at Christmas break and one week later head gaskets blew. I did not have a good experience with this dealer. The first car we looked at had a dead battery. Not a big deal, they jumped it, and we took it out for a test drive. The AC didn't work, and it had an obvious exhaust leak. When we got back to the lot, the salesman told us they could add freon. I popped the hood, and noticed they had bypassed a locked up compressor. This probably should have been enough of a red flag to leave, but I looked at another care on their website as a back up just in case. This one started, but we ran out of gas on the test drive. The salesman brought a can of gas, and we made it back to the lot. The car wasn't bad, so agreed on a price, and I filled out a credit app to buy it. The next day, the bank called me in the afternoon to let me know they had received an application from the dealer. It didn't get done that day, but I thought that the delay may have been on the banks part, so I didn't hold that against the dealer. The next day, the bank called to say we were approved, and that she had just talked with the dealer, and he was sending her the bill of sale so she could finalize the loan. I left work early to get to the dealership on time, and called the lender just to verify everything was OK. She told me she never received the bill of sale. I asked if it was still possible to get it done today, and she said no, they closed in 10 minutes. I called the dealer, who stumbled around and said, "Oh, she says she never got that. Huh. I must have forgot to send it to her. No problem, we can do it tomorrow." Problem is my son has to work that day, and there is not another day we are both available for another week. The bottom line is that this was a messed up transaction from the start, and we are probably better off that it didn't go through. I would recommend going elsewhere. read more
