If you hate dealing with car dealerships that insult your intelligence, beat you up on pricing, and treat you like cattle, then you owe it to yourself to visit CarMax. The showroom and car lot are immaculate, the sales staff is really friendly and does not pressure you at all, and the selection is excellent. All-in-all, it was the best experience I've had buying a vehicle. read more

Two stars only because our sales person, John was very amenable and accommodating. Our experience with John was great between ease of purchase and communication. However, our experience trading in a vehicle was abysmal, and the purchasing Manager, Rey Viray, Jr. should take some lessons in costumer service. We were told by the business office that our trade in could not be completed due to an issue with our lien release form. Additionally, we could leave our car in the lot while we awaiting a new form from our prior lien holder. We were given a signed letter to place inside our vehicle stating that the car could remain on the lot. So we came home, contacted our the company that had held our lien and requested a new letter. It had to be notarized and mailed we were told it could take 10 business days. Before we received our letter John contacted us and asked if we still planned to trade in our vehicle. We said yes, we were still waiting on the letter in the mail, but it should arrive shortly and we would reach out on my husbands next day off. My husband has been working in 2 hospital ERs during the pandemic to help with shortages, sometimes with 5 12 hr shifts a week. His service apparently isn't a concern for people like Rey Viray, Jr., because on his first day off that we could come to address the issue of the car, we received a certified letter in the mail from Rey Viray, Jr. letting us know that "there is no reason for your Vehicle to be at the CarMax Facility" and that we had to remove the car or they would tow it. Well by the time we got the letter it was to be towed away the next day. Thankfully it arrived on a day that we could come take care of our trade in. So my husband arrives to trade in the vehicle, and on arrival at the business office, the woman in the office asked why we didn't trade in the vehicle at the time of our purchase. He explained that we were told we needed an updated lien release letter, to which she replied that they actually didn't need it at all. Intercommunication among departments and the policies of the business office should probably be reviewed and explained to all of the staff working at the facility. We wasted an unnecessary amount of time on what should have been an easy transaction. I won't bother doing business with them again, and certainly plan to let everyone I know that they should skip over CarMax Maple Shade. read more

One of your trucks carring a full load crossed over 3 lanes and cut me off. To get to an off ramp.

Great experience! I got my car in one day for a great price! I love my car and I'm very happy with my purchase.

This was a great experience! Our sales associate, Anthony, was so nice! Very personable and made me feel comfortable as soon as we sat down! He was very honest and gave us the best options! read more

What a terrible experience! After driving for over an hour to get there, we walked in and it was like a scene from the Twilight Zone! There wasn't anyone at the "welcome desk." Not one person moved a muscle to help us. They looked up from their cell phones, then looked down completely ignoring us. I asked a man if he could help us and he told me he wasn't "available". Instead of getting someone to help us, he also looked down at his phone and ignored me. The place was empty so there is no excuse! I told someone of my experience and left. I was so annoyed when I left, I called and spoke with someone named Alana, who asked me what I wanted her to do for me. Really? I told her to pass it on to the powers that be, and surprisingly she did. I got a phone call back in two days from the "manager", who of course offered tons of apologies but nothing more. His loss. I came prepared with my checkbook, and was ready to make a deal. They definitely lost a sale and couldn't care less about it! NEVER, EVER go to CarMax! It's a complete waste of time! FYI, the cars were filthy. The Lexus I was interested in smelled like sour milk and literally made us nauseous. read more

I liked them at first everything was smooth. Three months into my time with the car i had purchased i had my first issue. And from there it was a domino effect. At first they were more than willing to help but inly willing to go so far. I am not satisfied with them in the least. Now i cant even get someone in charge to answer the phone. read more

This is our first time working with CarMax and they have earned customers for life!! We worked with Sean and he was fantastic!! We've had an amazing experience and are getting ready to leave with a dream car for us. Even the other CarMax employees were very polite to us. Great atmosphere and highly recommend everyone to come here. Top dollar on our trade in as well, which is always a bonus!! read more

This place offered thousands less than any other dealer quote we received on our vehicle. Their offer was 26% less than the amount for which we ultimately sold our vehicle, and that was also to a dealer, not private party. Two stars rather than one because the facility and people were nice, and the process was fine (although a bit long). But their offer was poor and ultimately that's what matters. read more

WARNING - Buyers insist on a CAR FAX REPORT when buying a car from CarMax- Reject the Auto Check Report that CarMax gives - Believe the Auto Check disclaimer "Not all accidents reported" The buying process started out beautifully! However, the bottom line is I purchased a $29,000.00 car and was told there was no accidents on the vehicle. After I experienced several problems I had a CARFAX report pulled and found that there was an accident on the vehicle. I wasted my time and money buying a car from CarMax. Today I am forced to rent a car because CarMax sold me a car and did not disclose the accident. When I called CarMax to tell them I pulled a CARFAX report and it was in an accident the manager asked, "How did you find out about the accident". Did they know about the accident and wondered who let the cat out the bag? The white 2016 Lexus ES 350 is posted on their website today and the listing still shows the Auto Check "NO ACCIDENT" This car was in an accident because I got the CAR FAX and I returned the car because it was in an accident. BUYER BE WARE!! Don't make the same mistake. When I took delivery and immediately noticed debris in the cup holder. I looked closer and realized the car was NOT properly cleaned. I also noticed the bumper and the hood were slightly different colors suggesting the car may have been in an accident. They assured me the car had a "clean" Auto Check report. I took the car home. I took the car to a Lexus dealer and found additional concerns with this car. CarMax did pay for the interior detail and they say they will refund the cost that I paid for cleaning from melted debris on my exhaust. I have not received the full refund as of this posting. One day I was driving on the expressway and the car pulled to one side and my passenger reported a burning smell. Another day I was one the express way and the navigation system froze, the radio did not play and the front panel seem to shut down. There seems to be an electrical problem with the white 2016 Lexus ES 350 with 22K miles. This car is on the Car Max Maple Shade website now. They going to sell it to another buyer although they know it was in an accident. Each time I called CarMax Corporate Headquarters they were nice and professional but the bottom line is that I incurred cost because I was sold a car and the accident was not disclosed. Why is the car still up for sale now showing no accidents? Clearly the Pearl White 2016 ES 350 with 22K miles was in an accident. I had a CARFAX report pulled and there was an accident on the vehicle with major front end damage and the wheel had to be replaced. The "AutoCheck" report CarMax provided did not list the accident. The Auto Check report has a clear disclaimer that says "NOT ALL ACCIDENTS REPORTED TO AUTOCHECK". Believe Auto Check and know that there might be an accident that was not reported. read more

Took my car in this afternoon to get it appraised and to look at one of their cars. I drove in and my car had absolutely zero lights on the dash and hadn't for months. While I drive their vehicle they drove and appraised mine. I get back and they tell me the value which was $5000 less than the dealer I went too on Tuesday this week. I looked at them like they were crazy and the purchaser start saying how my car has no power and has a SES light, Brake Light, and 4x4 Light. I say that's crazy it wasn't like that when I got here and they say it happened when they drove it. My car ran perfect until they drove it for their appraisal. I believe it's in Limp Mode and I have to take it to the dealer in the morning via tow truck to get it looked at and fixed. Best believe that if I can prove they damaged my car during their test drive there will be legal repercussion. I WILL NEVER CONSIDER BUYING A CAR OR EVEN GETTING A CAR APPRAISED BY THEM AGAIN. I will update with further information as we progress. read more

I was sold a lemon vehicle. I purchased a 2012 Nissan Sentra from carmax in early November. I was told that the vehicle had 1 previous owner with no accidents. I had the car for about 3 months when it randomly wouldn't start. Come to find out I needed a new battery. Carmax fixed the issues and assured me nothing was wrong with it. About 3 months later I went to get an oil change from Nissan Cherry Hill. Nissan Cherry Hill went on to tell me a laundry list of things wrong with my vehicle. I just got the oil change because I wanted to get a second opinion on my vehicle damages. The next day my car caught on fire and burned half my car down. Thank god I wasn't in the vehicle. Come to find out my car had 4 previous owners (carmax didn't tell me about) and it was out of warranty. I only had the car for 7 months total and the engine caught on fire. I went to carmax to try to get some help but they were extremely dismissive and rude. I could've lost my life due to a vehicle they sold me. Beware !!!!!! read more

We give Carmax five full stars. No car transaction or new experience could have been better . We have always dreaded new car buying day. Hours on end only to be disappointed in whatever deal the salesperson came up with. Our last experience at Winner Ford was a nightmare. Five hours sitting a cubicle alone while the salesperson who left us did his thing only to be treated like third class citizens. This Carmax experience was amazingly easy. We were treated with respect and consideration and our salesman Nick helped us to pick out the perfect vehicle for our needs. Nick was personable and down to earth and we immediately liked and trusted his judgment. Nick showed us as many cars as we wished to see, test drive the cars we chose and guided us to the deal best serving our interests. The whole process took less time and was as stress less as we could ask for. Kudos to Carmax. We love our new vehicle . You have lifelong customers in us. read more

Bought a car and brought it back the next day with mechanical issues. Took them 2 weeks to get the car fixed. Tried to buy extended warranty 5 years or 75,000 miles. The car had 37,000 which left the car with only 38,000 miles or 5 years which ever comes first, do the math! Always read the fine print. Service contract clearly states in section 3 that extended warranty starts at current odometer. CarMax is misleading the consumer by saying the warranty expires at 75000 miles on odometer not complying with contract. Corporate headquarters said that they will offer a solution but nothing happened. At least they honored the 7-day return policy. Of course I never had the car anyway so why wouldn't they return it. All they had to do was drive it back to their own lot. Horrible experience with both the sales department, especially the so called manager Patrick and also with Erick the analyst from corporate headquarters. read more

I will definitely buy from CarMax again & recommend them. My car had issues when I purchased it, but I really wanted this car. They allowed me to take it to the local Mercedes dealership to get a complete inspection of the car. CarMax stood behind the car and it was repaired 100% to my satisfaction, at their expense. Buy here with confidence. My car is 100% perfect and I love it. Tiffany is an All-Star, could not have been more professional and helpful. read more

This place is awesome! Sean Brown helped me and there was absolutely no pressure when buying my car. I was ecstatic to get the financing I wanted. I purchased my car a year ago and have had nothing but issues with my car. They offer an extended CarMax Care warranty which I took, and I was told I can take my care to ANY CarMax for repair to save $50 on the deductible, and I would like to point out this just isn't true. Also, their CarMax Care is actually not through CarMax, the extended warranty is a third party company! I moved from NJ to PA in the last year. The location I purchased the vehicle at is Maple Shade, NJ and the closest CarMax to me now is King of Prussia, PA and when I took it there for front end repair, they told me they do not work on front end repairs. With all of the repairs I have needed on the vehicle I have needed to take it to the Volvo dealership every time and pay the extra $50 on the CarMax Care deductible. I purchased the vehicle for $15K, and have had $7000 worth of work put into the front end of the vehicle within this last year. Now, I am having more issues with the vehicle, the retractable roof isn't working properly. Now, I need to take it to Volvo, AGAIN, pay the extra $50 in the deductible, AGAIN. Plus, at Volvo, I also have to pay for a diagnosis each time I take it to them which is $150. I also had to pay $900 to have the car transferred to my nearest location, which I was willing to pay, but now I regret it, having all these issues with this car. It's just bad business. I have reached out to CarMax multiple times about my car issues, and NO ONE has EVER reached back out to me. No one at the store level cares, and I was told it is my responsibility to look into a cars worth, value, etc. before purchasing. I would say, I would find this to be true, since they are used cars, but someone from this large company could have the decency to at least contact me back. I personally had and still have problems with purchasing my car through CarMax and wanted to share my experience, and it hasn't been pleasant. I DO NOT recommend purchasing a car through them. read more

Run from the dealership as fast as you can. Hands down the worst experience I have had with buying a car. Their service is absolutely incompetent and can't even properly detail a car you purchase from them. They also do not perform any maintenance checks on the car before selling and use the cars they are selling as loaner cars so beware that the car you are buying has been treated like a used car before you buy it. I bought a car from in May 2019 and a week later found trash and toys under under the backseat shoved out of site. Took them 3 tries to actually clean it properly. My tires also needed replacing at the request of 2 separate mechanics and they refuse to do the work. No car they sell if worth the BS of dealing with their service center. Avoid their terrible service if you need to buy a car from them. It was the smartest thing I ever done. Can't wait to be done with after their 90 day warranty expires. read more

Picked up a car and sold mine here at this location. Great staff and very friendly. I worked with Nick. I definitely recommend!

Very disappointed. Everyone I spoke with has been very nice however the inconvenience all this has caused it is not worth it. I bought a car at this location and AFTER all papers were signed I was told I need to go to the KOP location go get the car inspected, once I get my registration. I finally reach out to the KOP location and of course they are only open 8am to 3pm Mon-Fri so to make this happen, I had to lose a day of work. Once the car was inspected I learned the car has a non-working horn and oil leaks. However this work needed to be completed at the NJ location. I call the NJ location and make a appt. When I make the appt I give ALL the info so the parts could be ordered prior to my visit. The appt is on Friday so Thursday i called and asked if I could pick up a rental car so I don't have to miss work again. I was told yes and they would have something comparable to my Ford Explorer. I go to this location at 7:30pm to drop off my car and pick up the rental. I waited 30 mins for them to "loan" me a clown car and no way comparable to my truck. I get a call today to be told, my car could take at least a few days to a week to be done cause the parts have to be ordered. When I set up the appt I was told the parts would be ordered ahead of time and should take no longer then 2hrs to finish. This whole thing has been a unnecessary inconvenience. I have reached out to the head office and the location itself and unfortunately have not been impressed with anything. read more

It started with a "wow!!" because within a few minutes of my online inquiry a person called me and we chat about the car. He texted me more options. We scheduled a test drive the next day and we bought a car other than the one I asked about. A few days later I realized the car was too small for a family so I went back and got another SUV that had more miles hence it was $2000 less. The next day when I started to drive this new car on highway it started making a roaring sound! I thought the muffler broke! So, I called the service and they said they can see the car on Monday because they are not open on weekends. This is a significant negative point. I have to take off from work to get the car fixed. They gave me a loaner car which was the exact same model, no updated features, same year, only a few miles less. The car was listed on their website. The price difference was minuscule. The car was running nice. So, when I went to get the car that was supposedly fixed, I asked them if I could buy the loaner and bam! They jacked up the price for 2000 dollars! So unprofessional. I was disgusted by their behavior. So I left. The car I purchased still makes a humming sound, oh, and after the "service" now the wind blows through front window! Although they told me that my 7-day return period started after I took the car from the service, I was called the next day and given my license plates. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away! read more

This is the first social media review I have ever written, but there comes a time where enough is enough and something needs to be said. I only give this business 1 star because their sales staff are genuine. The service department and inspection department are 100% incompetent. I bought my car on 11/26/2016, and since, my vehicle has been in the service department 5 TIMES!! Not to mention, it was sent to ford on 11/30/2016-12/13/2016 to replace a rear axle/differential. I owned the car for 3 days only driving it maybe 10-12 miles. A repair that large can no way be blamed on driver error. That vehicle should have never been placed on the lot with something that large of an issue. With the way Carmax prides themselves of their vehicle inspection you would think buying a car from here would be trustworthy and you would leave feeling safe. I could not have been more wrong. My car has needed since, 2 alignments, wheel balance (which should have been corrected the first time), a EVAP purge valve replacement (in the shop for nearly 2 weeks again, because they found another part that needed to be ordered. I was leaving for vacation and they knew that, and I was unable to drive my own vehicle on vacation), and now my rear shocks are being replaced along with my rear control arm. My previous vehicle was a 2006 with 3 times the amount of miles and never had anything close to this when talking about repairs. I understand 100% that vehicles need to be maintained and require routine maintenance, but repairs like this within a year time frame is not driver error or your typical "wear and tear." I worked hard to get this vehicle that I THOUGHT I was going to love, but it has literally been the biggest regret. I wish I truly knew the quality of cars Carmax sold because I would have never in a million years purchased a car from this business. The ignorance of management at this location is a whole different story! I will spare the details, but I have never encountered such ignorant and passive aggressive managers who are unwilling to empathize with their customers on their concern for safety. I am hoping this brings some in-site to at least one person to make sure you really understand the value of the vehicle you purchase from this business. I would love to communicate with someone from corporate or even a regional position to give my whole story and the aggravation and lack of safety this vehicle has caused. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars. Carmax is awful. They give you run arounds, go back and forth with you and tell you different things over the phone than in person. Save yourself the trouble and aggravation. read more

I took my car to Carmax to sell, agreed to a price and handed over the title and registration. Good so far? I thought so too. But, then they stated I needed a lien release letter as NJ wouldn't accept my title. So, I called the bank who had held the lien over 10 years earlier and they said they would send me one in one or two business days. The letter took two weeks to arrive and I went back to Carmax to finish the deal only to be told the lien release letter wasn't acceptable and the car needed to be reappraised as their price guarantee only lasts for a week. I had done some research in the two weeks it took to get the release letter and had brought copies of the NJ laws regarding auto titles and pointed out that my title was acceptable. They disagreed and wouldn't budge. I want to say that everyone was lovely and because of the nice people I'm not giving a one star review. Anyway, back to the story. So, at this point, I've wasted a day and a half and still can't sell my car. Then it occurs to me that if having the ex-lien holder on the title is a problem, and if I feel the State has no problem with transferring the title then why don't I go get a clean title from the State. So I did. If cost $60 and the kind woman at the DMV insisted I "shouldn't have to do this". But, when I went back to Carmax the deal was done within a half hour. Carmax reimbursed me for the DMV title fee (as I said, the people do what they can and are very nice) but the process was maddening. read more
