Total incompetence. I had my 2020 BMW X1 appraised, and the "loaner" appraiser falsely claimed my tailgate needed a repaint, when in reality, it was just dirty. When I pointed this out to the sales rep, she insisted that appraisers had told her it wouldn't affect the value; a blatant lie. Despite admitting their mistake, I was told they couldn't correct it in their "system." None of the appraisers would show me the supposed issue or explain why the error couldn't be fixed. When I asked for a manager, they conveniently "couldn't find him." This is nothing but a scam! Devaluing vehicles while refusing to provide proof or justification. Sold my Car 2022 Honda Pilot to Carmax and it was a breeze. Initially reluctant due to negative reviews and experiences. I got a quote online, uploaded needed documents. Scheduled a drop off. When I arrive I was directed to Jonae Carothers who send me paper work of sale agreement to sign electronically while she got someone check the car and odometer. He came back in about 5minutes and they said it's all set. They printed the signed sale agreement and the Bank Draft and it was done. I was there in and out in 23 minutes. The people at Car Max did EVERYTHING to make sure I was taken care of well. The Chevy has some hidden problems. However, CarMax did all they could to resolve the problem. The entire team regional management, service and sales department, were in constant communication and truly concerned with my situation. The car was sent to a Chevy mechanic shop for assistance and diagnosis as well. Although I didn't purchase the additional car max warranty, this was all done with no out of pocket expenses for me. Ultimately, although it took some time I was uncomfortable with continuing with the purchase. The CarMax team repurchased the car, refunded $ used for the original car purchase and I was able to look for and obtain a new car. ANY other used car is yours once purchased with any problems not covered under warranty. I am SO pleased with this team/location, there are no words to capture how I feel. Can't say enough positive things about my experience with CarMax in general and this location specifically. I was looking to sell my car and got quotes from them and two other services online. Theirs was the only one that was a firm price, rather than a fairly large range. I called one of the others back and they told me that they can almost always beat CarMax but require I go and get a firm appraisal from CarMax and then send it to them. I filled out the CarMax form and made an appointment to have the car looked at. When I got there I was greeted immediately and told the person to look at my car would be with me shortly. They gave it fairly detailed analysis and gave me a firm appraisal that was for the exact same amount they initially quoted online. I could sell it on the spot or had seven days they would continue to honor it. I went home and sent this to the other company that said they could almost always beat CarMax, which had told me if they could not they would send me a check for $100. When they saw the number they asked me if my address was correct on it, I said yes, and they said that is where they would mail my $100 check. I also stopped in at the car dealer that services my car as the last time I was there they asked if I was interested in selling my car and if I was they would love to buy it. Well, their price was $3,000 less than CarMax. So this morning I called CarMax and said I wanted to sell it, they said no appointment was needed and it would take about 30 minutes. Got there and everyone was friendly and pointed me to the correct person. They took my papers and everything was done in about 20 minutes. I did not even need my screw driver to remove my plates, they had them with the papers waiting for me. While online it says it can take 10 days to get your money, they handed me a bank draft to deposit and said it would clear in 24 hours. Further, the huge facility is clean and everyone there seems to enjoy their jobs. I asked what they were going to do with my car and they said the first thing was to send it to the bigger facility on the other side of Jacksonville as this is a satellite location. The place is huge to only be a satellite. Oh, when I walked out my car had already been moved and they had a truck they were already loading it on to move to the other locations. This was actually a pleasant process and very smooth, can't say enough positive things. read more

I was feeling good be able to pay off my car and put the difference down on another vehicle. Well that didn't happened they came back with another offer around 13500 and state they couldn't give what they quote for 16000 saying my transmission was shifting funny. I made an appointment because my air conditioning wasn't working. They called my husband in the morning saying it only needed Freon, they had performed a dye test and found no leaks. He kept waiting for them to call that it was ready. At one pm it still wasn't finished because they had to finish the oil change, that we didn't need or request. I never once considered buying a car from CarMax ever, but I keep hearing friends and family claiming how good or great they are .. I'm in Jacksonville for training for a few weeks, I decided to buy a car, founded one in ft meyers and then had it transferred to Jacksonville.. this was the end of March, it's the last week of April now and they are still telling me that the car needs windshield wiper motor before they can sale it to me, this was told to the second week of April, it's now the 23rd of April part supposedly came in on the 16th of April .. car still isn't ready .. mind you, I've had family plans for the holidays.. I missed that, plans for a job opportunity, I missed that .. all because communication is horrible and the lies are ridiculous, just be honest and I would've just got a rental instead of you telling me it'll be done or you're waiting on parts ?! This was the easiest and best experience Ive ever had buying a vehicle. Dave Campbell was very courteous, polite, and attentive with absolutely no pressure. I found the car online, drove over and Dave was the first available salesperson. He knew right were they kept the brand I was looking for, and walked me right to it. Within minutes of walking in Dave Campbell had me ready to test drive the car. After the drive we sat down for about 30 minutes total filling out information for credit approval. When that was done I left and came back 2 days later with my wife, within an hour we had our car and were leaving. 1 1/2 hours total time spent here. This may not be typical but Dave was very easy to work with. He checked on us multiple times while we were filling out the paper work, and even went the extra mile to find a bow to put on the hood of the car for my wife. read more

We went to CarMax in Orange Park from Yulee, FL to test drive a vehicle we were hoping to purchase with a check in hand for more than the sales price. After test driving, we asked the sales consultant assisting us Arias Hall if we could have the vehicle held while we checked on some other options. He said that that was not an option. He did offer a 24hour test drive but after explaining that we lived in Yulee(43 miles away) he stated that was too far of a distance for that option. So, we looked around at other vehicles and dealers and didn't find anything we liked. We called Mr. Hall while close to Southside of Jacksonville and told him we were coming back for the car. We drove another 30 minutes back to the dealership just to find out that the vehicle was being held by someone else and that we couldn't have it even with a check in hand from our bank. The sales consultant had ample time to review and confirm the status of the vehicle instead of wasting our time. But instead, he told us to come by and wasted our time after we spent all day looking for vehicles with a pregnant wife and 10 year old daughter. This is unacceptable and unprofessional to say the least. After then turning to the manager Leah for assistance, she said she understood our position but couldn't take the sale away from this other individual who reserved it from Atlanta, GA without financing secured and didn't really offer a resolution to our problem. I asked if they could provide proof of the distance cap for the 24 hour test drive and they couldn't offer any proof of the limitations or specify exactly what that cap was. Meanwhile, the senior sales consultant totally excused himself and hid somewhere so as to not confront us or take ownership of his failure. It's hard to believe that this gentleman is classified as a Senior Floor Sales Consultant and would suggest reevaluating his and his managers positions and titles. This was our first and last experience at Carmax. We have lost all trust and confidence in the name Carmax. read more

The facilities are new, as they just opened. Expect excellent when it comes to presentation. The selection of cars is consistent. They are extremely helpful in helping you find the right one. Very busy area. So much it can make test driving stressful. I live in area, so I am accustomed to the traffic patterns. Not the dealerships fault. It was a 2015, low milage for a leased vehicle, and history looked good. It was out of state, they sent it down but it went to the dealer on the other side of town. The salesman was wonderful (AJ) and he made sure it was brought to the dealership closer to me on Blanding Blvd. The Van was just what I was expecting, It looked exactly like the pictures I had seen on line, everything that was advertised to be included was what I got. We recently purchased our second car from this location & had a great experience the first time. The second, however, has been a nightmare. We ordered a HyundaI Sonata & were never even informed when it arrived. When we finally tracked down an employee, we were told various things about it being damaged in transport. Fine, we chose a different Sonata & it was shipped with no issue. EXCEPT the fact that we later learned that we were blatantly lied to about the car's history. We were given a report stating that the car had never been in an accident or damaged in any way. We then paid for our own history & discovered that although it wasn't in any accidents, it DID have significant front end damage. CarMax falsified/altered their official car history report and now we cannot even get them on the phone. Recommend a buyer never take them at their word or trust any document given as accurate/true. read more
