First time buying from CarMax and it was completely satisfactory. I went there on a Thursday originally just to test drive a 2022 Kia Telluride to see what all the fuss was about. I liked it so much, I decided to but the car. Ahmed was my salesperson and he held the car for me for 24 hours so I could get everything together. On Friday, I went back and the whole purchase process took about an hour and I was driving the car back to my home in North Dallas. I see other reviews are a mixed bag... My experience was outstanding and FAR better than what I've experienced at typical dealerships. read more

TLDR: come here if you want to get a screwed up car with even worse screwed up scumbag sales people that will lie, lie, lie. I thought I saw more horse and bull shit in the ranch homes/rural parts of Texas. Nope, they are solely coming out of the mouths of CarMax employees with promises. Went to CarMax to get a vehicle that they had in inventory. The car bumper had prior damage. 1 manager, to close the deal, assured me that he would have it repaired OR bring in another car from another store. Since then, 3 other managers also promised that it was going to be repaired. I got my credit union to fire off a check and my auto insurance to get the vehicle covered while I waited approximately TWO weeks. Then ONE HOUR before I'm about to pick it up, the salesperson texts me photos of the front bumper, and ITS WORSE than before. In their attempt to "fix it", they bashed it in with more tools, so it has a bunch of scratches and gouges. He tells me the car is now being sold AS-IS. So all the 4 managers lied. I called the Corporate Office. They didn't give two shits, it took me more time to contact them and while I got someone who claimed that they would do something, no one ever reached back out to me. I feel I dodged a bullet with this one, but just goes to show the over-achieving to-be-a-scumbags you deal with here. read more

Low ball offer on trade. Was offered 10k more at Chevy vs here! The truck I drove was absolutely filthy and they wanted top dollar at $60k for a 2wd 30k truck. Looks like they are going bankrupt soon . Hard pass the trash. read more

I purchase a 2013 Nissan Versa on February 14, 2022 from CarMas 3100 Spur 482 in Irving. To date I have spent $7,692.58 on repairs. I paid approx $10K for it. I haven't spent that much on all the cars (combined) I've owned in my life. I have put 18,000 in the two years i've had it. I asked very specifically about inspections done. The response was "we go through the vehicles from bumper to bumper". I did have it in prior to the warranty expiring for brakes; had to have them redone 4 months later at my own expense. Very disappointed in CarMax. read more

Searching for the best price for a vehicle isn't always an easy process, however this place made it nice and easy. We made appts to have our vehicles appraised and it took about 30 mins from time of arrival. Comps were better than at another dealership and we chose to sell one after all. We had left for awhile and came back for the sale and it also took less than 30 mins. All the associates we came in contact with were very nice and professional, they appeared to enjoy their jobs. The restrooms were also nice and clean. They also provide a nursing room close to the restrooms. read more

There were major issues with the first vehicle that my son purchased. The car stopped on my son within 24 hrs of purchasing the vehicle. I completely understand that things occur in used vehicles, but the engine needed to be replaced. It was two days of an extremely stressful process that I will not mention. I am focusing on the resolution vehicle by the Sales Team. The sales manager, Travis Smith and salesperson, Michael Linton. They worked together and lived CarMax mantras: * Do the Right Thing * Put People First * Win Together * Go for Greatness They resolved a very dark and stressful transaction that physically and mentally promoted me to become sick because of the stress and time constraints that my son (Marine Veteran) to be in a new city to work as an engineer. He is young and this was his first purchase as he embarked on his new career and city. I was so stressed until Michael and Travis completed the new transaction and put my son in another vehicle that he like more. He can now start his journey in his career and independence after serving his time as a Marine. We are grateful and thankful to Michael, Shannen, Vicky, Travis, (Katie & Samantha at Customer Relations). They turned a horrible experience into a great experience. We thank you! read more

Buyer beware!!!! The dealer does not use CarFax. They use another source for records on damages, being Autocheck by Experian. Unfortunately they were unable to note damages on the vehicles listed by CarFax so if you do buy a car here run your own CarFax independently. Then I'm sure with their no negotiation pricing it won't matter once you find something. Buyer Beware! read more

Good value for the car and good sales representative. No coffee anywhere. No even in the employee break room. The sales guy said we would get the specs on the tag that was on the car we bought but we did not receive it. Over all good deal for the car we bought and decent appraisal for the trade in but they need to make it more accommodating for their customers. Sorry Carmax. read more

Carmax in Irving is very poorly managed. After buying my car, I gave them the loan officers name & phone to get the payoff info, but they screwed that up @ sent payoff to wrong bank. They said they corrected their mistake & expedited payoff to correct bank. I sold my car to them on 9/11 and here it is 10/4 and the payoff has still not been received, and my bank took out another payment thanks to Carmax incompetence. Avoid them!!!!! read more

If I had the option to write a -5 star to the power of 10, that would be the option!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS LOCATION if you want a QUALITY VEHICLE and QUALITY SERVICE. I purchased a 2020 Jeep Renegade from the sales guy Josh on 06/1/2024. The vehicle that was sold was infested with spiders. The spiders and bugs started coming out on the 3rd day of driving it. There were a few other issues with it as well. I returned to Carmax on 06/7/2024 to take it to the service center and discuss options regarding the situation. It had only been about 4-5 days of driving the vehicle. I requested to speak to the service manager Travis to discuss the return policy. He demonstrated lack of empathy and basically just offered to fix the issues. Showed absolutely no concern. Thereafter, I moved forward for them to fix the issues. As a paying customer I expect the issues to be fixed. WELL!!!! They called me to let me know that they wouldn't be able to service it until 06/22/2024 which went well over the 10 day return policy. They put me in a loaner that also had a few bugs in the vehicle. I returned the first loaner and got into another one. I then received a few other phone calls to let me know they ordered the wrong parts and my vehicle wouldn't be ready until 07/5/2024. HOWEVER, when I arrived to pick up my vehicle it was dirty, and looked the same as it did when I first dropped it off for service on 06/7/2024. They failed to deliver quality service and who on earth would sell a spider infested vehicle. See picture attached. There is a full blown spiders nest in the window seal cracks! The vehicle was supposed to be returned to me on 07/5/2024. It is now 07/15/2024 and CARMAX has ONCE AGAIN attempted to deliver a vehicle with issues. The vehicle was dirty and dusty on the inside and failed to perform a full detail. Not to mention when I arrived to pick up my vehicle, they couldn't locate the keys to my vehicle. They also couldn't locate the loaner vehicle paperwork to check the 2nd loaner car in! THIS HAS BEEN A HUGE INCONVENIENCE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND JUST POOR SERVICE! I waited for my keys, ONLY to walk to my vehicle that was parked for weeks to only find the vehicle in the same condition as it was when I dropped it off on 06/7/2024. I have yet to DRIVE the car that I have purchased on 06/1/2024! In addition, my first car note is due today and I have yet to receive the vehicle back from CARMAX! What kind of operation are they running? AGAIN, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS LOCATION. THE SALES AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS HORRENDOUS! read more

I would like to shout out to Sarge. He took car of my daughter with her search for a car of her own. He walked her through the steps, told her everything she needed, worked with her schedule and she received her car today. I have sold 2 cars to Carmax & found upon visiting for an appraisal that they actually had the exact car I wanted in Houston, so I decided to buy as well! What a nightmare, Eddie gave me wrong information on how appraisals are handled with transfers and I ended up selling my car to the Credit Union so I could cut my losses. I spent over two weeks negotiating the details, and got a car delivered that was dirty, had 3 damaged rims and body damage. Guess what!? The GM isn't accepting my calls now. What a scam! They straight up don't know what they are talking about ever and getting any info will be like pulling teeth as they have no customer service skills at all. I'm guessing they don't get paid commission and don't care at all whether you buy a car or not? Don't know I've literally never had such a hard time talking to anyone who was trying to sell me something. Also they probably will lie to you like they did to me multiple times and waste your time. If you tell the manager about how they lied to you he won't care nor apologize. All he will say is that is the first he is hearing of this. Literally run as far away as you can. Good prices but I would rather spend an extra 5k to talk to people that know how to treat customers right with kindness and respect and fix their mistakes and keep you updated. I never leave reviews postive or negative but Carmax irving sure as hell deserves -20 stars. read more

Everything about this location is horrible. The combination of arrogance, ignorance, laziness, dishonestly and general incompetence is astounding. They had my car towed after telling me IN WRITING that I could leave it there until my title arrived in the mail. Then they tried to get me to pay for it. I was also told that due to the circumstances, my original appraisal would be valid since I was leaving the car on their lot - another lie. The corporate office "help desk" did literally nothing to help support the situation. Be prepared to spend all day here, they all move at the most ridiculous pace. And even though the amazing business model doesn't allow for haggling or any pressure - you still get to hear all about how low their commission and pay is "so they really need the sale". This is my 3rd carmax car. And my last. The word count isn't even close to enough to really go into detail. If you must support Carmax, find another location. read more

This is my first CarMax purchase experience. And I was pleasantly happy with the streamlined buying process. I searched for my car online among their national database. And was informed electronically with my car being transported from another state. CarMax has an online schedule they email to prospective buyers, which is great. They will try and sale you their extended warranty of $3,500. A solid car doesn't need one. I was not happy to hear one was added to my sales invoice without my approval. So it was removed, but this delayed my loan paperwork being processed. And sends up a red flag about why consumers loathe car dealers in the first place. On the day of my car's inspection and drive test, I went over every detail of the vehicle's status. Including my spare tire and owner's manual. To my surprise, there were rough edges showing on my car I thought would be resolved prior to my inspection of the car 3 days after it was brought in. Happily I financed my car with a local credit union. Which was a great option. 2.99 APR with GAP Insurance and extras to boot. Don't use dealer financing, your rates will not be the best the market will bear. The signing process was very thorough and easy. No haggling. No back and forth. Just a great fair deal. To me, it was worth paying a separate $250 transport fee to find an out of state car with only 64,000 miles. Different regions have less or more demands for certain cars. So it is worth a smidge of homework to find that diamond and have it shipped. My car was washed but not detailed. It needed a pinch of extra TLC in the service department. They only polished the fading headlights but did not clean several smudges on the interior. Kept me waiting past the hour quoted for the work, no one seemed informed about the status of my car. After spending 18k at this business, their lack of thoroughness shows. And my Benz mats were throw out, meaning I must now pay $145 to put something back in my car it should already have. So I am not happy with this company or their practices. Ask a lot of questions. read more

I have A LOT to say about this place! Someone's first car is so important.. so of course naturally you want the best, regardless if its 2nd hand or not. So i'm browsing the inter web to see what i can find for my first new car.. Kia Optima.. no, Kia Forte.. ehh.. I have ALWAYS (since i was like in the 8th grade) wanted to have a Nissan Altima. The Nissan Altima along with the cool little steering wheel buttons and a sun-roof! So im looking around and I find the PERFECT car! Its a Nissan Altima with cloth seats( leather seats aint a joke in Texas, as sexy as they do look) a sunroof and the buttons. So i was in love. The car was in Ft. Worth, so they got a little transfer done and Viola, the car was there in less the 48 hours! So i got started off with a salesman and me being indian and having to go by certain dates to buy the car I had to wait like a week to actually make the car mine. It seemed to have been SUCH a hassle for them to do so... like I knew i wanted the car....but anywho... When i went to go look at the car for the first time, another salesman had to help me because my first salesman wasn't there. So he helps me.. I test drove the car.. loved it. The big day arrives. My father and I have to be at work at 1 so we both make sure we get there right when the doors open .. so we were there at 10 am and were ready to get started. we had some trouble with the air-check voucher.. they took forever! But long long story short... right as i left there was a chip in the windshield.. i called him literally 2 seconds after.. and they didn't do crap about it (of course). My dad opened the car and there was a dirty air filter, and corrosion on the battery(which they didn't do a good job cleaning because he told them prior to us buying the car).. the brakes were already squeaking.. there was something in the trunk hanging down, there was a paint chip on the hood of the car and to top it off they put a WORN out tire on the car. Now the one star is cause there isn't a shit button .. and because they actually agreed to changing the tire. (they did fix all the problems except the windshield.. but I haven't even had the car for a month and i've been to service 3 times). But other than that.. loved the car. Wouldn't ever go back to Carmax. As said previously "carBADmax" THey don't know what quality is but they flaunt it all over they're website. and everything. and the people that do the 125 point inspection are stupid. CLEARLY. read more

I had my car appraised a week ago by CarMax. Today was the expiration date of the offer. I visited the local CarMax location with everything required. Keys, registration, cleaned out car. Ready to do business. After waiting an hour no one had test driven the vehicle. The business office told me, "Come back tomorrow during business hours when the bank holding your loan is open." This was originally a one star review. Update: I went back the next day. Some system that I've never heard of that lenders use to track liens was not correctly updated when I refinanced the car a year before. CarMax was just covering their backside because "the computer" was telling them that the vehicle had two liens. Car is sold! read more

I did a test drive today at Carmax - 12 noon at Irving Texas Stadium location-- very disappointed in the new way, Carmax does business.  They don't allow you to choose your own sales rep! They decide for you! ' I went to the store and wanted to talk to Chelsea who was recommended to me by a friend-- no go --Some guy by the name of Otum or Okem was forced on me as my sales rep! It's so impersonal now ! I was told thats the way they do things at Carmax now ---as dictated by the Corporate Headoffice . Not even the Sales Manager seemed very interested in helping me out even though I purchased my last 4 cars from that same Carmax location and each time my sales rep looked after me., going back as far as April 2000. The best thing about this place was the salesman that I worked with so if you decide to go here talk with Fritz Powell. He is the only honest person working in there. They sold me a car that needed work almost immediately. (2 month) The brakes need to be replaced and there are bad engine gaskets which is causing low oil pressure. I can not drive a car with low oil pressure and they can't get me an appointment for another 2 weeks....who can be 2 weeks without a car? They claim to do a 125 point check but somehow missed a bad headlight....I guess that wasn't one of the points. They push appointments out for weeks because, SURPRISE, there is a lot of work to be done on these cars. Instead of saying yes we will help out a paying customer, they say, well you can take it to any mechanic in the city. My friend got a car here as well and had mechanical problems immediately also. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone for any reason. I came here because of how fast and easy the process was but now I see that it's not worth it AT ALL. I thought I got a good deal with Carmax until my car broke down within 6 months of having the car and bought the extended warranty.. well I took my car to a repair pal shop and that shop kept it at their place for a month and 2 weeks Miss diagnosed the prob made me get a rental after they said they would pay me back the 40 a day. After the month and 2 weeks the repair pal shop said it wasn't in fact what they said and had to get it towed to dealership..they did not reimburse me for rental like they said they would and just washed their hands of it. Now I'm out a whole month and 2 weeks for this rental.. this carmax care warranty is full bs. They don't take care of you even tho you paid extra for this service! I will never buy a car from Carmax and will def not refer people to buy from this dealership! Worst experience I've ever had dealing with Carmax and their repair pal shops read more

I have to say that my experience with Edgar Chavez with Carmax at the Texas Stadium location was TRULY OUTSTANDING in every way... HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you ask for him by name. Proactive, knowledgeable, helpful, and a high quality person. Can you ask anything more? The rest of the Carmax team was also exceptional. I purchased the added warranty expressly because of the representation on the front side of the sale and I look forward engaging their car maintenance services as needed and required. I traded in my precious Jeep Sahara for a beautiful Gladiator that was nearly new. Why Carmax? I had a terrible experience with trying to buy new through a dealership (1 star). Found a Bronco I thought I would like at Carmax with a mediocre sales team in Colorado was disappointed in both (2 stars).... after my return I was fortunate enough to work with Edgar at Texas Stadium, I found EXACTLY what I wanted. I would not work with ANYONE ELSE. Edgar Chavez representation of Carmax was superb in EVERY WAY (Five Stars). read more

Was assisted by Leo, in my opinion he is their top salesman. I initially indicated exactly what I was searching for and please don't try to sell me anything else. Only contact me when you have exactly what I want. Unlike other dealerships, he did stay in contact to let me know only that he was still searching. Boom, he found the perfect car in another city. Though there was a non-refundable fee for getting it here, it was low mileage and everything that I wanted. He was polite, very helpful and not your usual "used car salesman". Just terrible. Reserved a car to test drive online. Got to CarMax and car had been sent to another location. Got some excuse that this has been happening all day. Cars are mysteriously being shipped out. And just today. Not yesterday. First time this has ever happened. Then found our car not even at the stated location ... still in transit. Rather than providing assistance in having the car sent to a different store I was told I need to do all the chasing down myself. Exactly what is customer sales and service doing for the buyer? I'm guessing due to market forces CarMax is emboldened to shrug shoulder, give blank stare, and not care about making a sale. First time using CarMax and I'm out put off by how they run their business. I took time off of work to go look at this car. Thanks for wasting my time. read more

I purchased a car from CarMax in the Irving, TX location about two months ago. The very first day I picked the car up and drove it home I had to send it back to go to the shop. Ford allegedly fixed the vehicle but after a couple days of being home with the vehicle it goes out again on the highway. They offered me a chance to get another vehicle because they know they sold a lemon but out of the $1,000 I would only get a $200 credit towards my car the rest my money is just my loss. Be careful going to this car lot I absolutely hate I went here and regret it whole heartedly. Didn't have the vehicle for 7 days total so the fact that there not taking the responsible actions I pray the next customer choose another place to do business. I had a great experience with my sales person during my test drive appointment 11 days ago. Although, the car I wanted to test drive had a dead battery, the sales person informed me that if I wanted to go through with the purchase, the service department would have it replaced first thing Monday morning, as that department is closed on Saturdays. They also informed me that they could send me home with a loaner car until the car I was looking at was ready. I proceeded to purchase the car, as a dead battery that I thought would be replaced on their next business day was not a big deal. I got a call that Monday night, from my service representative, who told me that they had to put me down for their next available appointment (over a week away), but that they might be able to fit it in before then. Yesterday, ten days since I purchased the car, the service representative said it was ready to be picked up, and I made arrangements to be there first thing in the morning today. About two hours after his initial phone call, he left me a voicemail stating that the car was in fact not ready, and it was probably just the auxiliary battery. When I spoke to him an hour later, they had replaced the aux battery, and that still was not the issue. He informed me that they would take it to the dodge dealership first thing in the morning, as they have better diagnostic equipment. When I finally got ahold of him today, around 4PM, he told me that my vehicle was in line with a mobile mechanic, not at the dodge dealership. He also said he would call me before the day was over with an update. Imagine that, I did not receive an update. Tomorrow will mark 12 days of not having the car that purchased! For almost 30K!! 1. Buyers do not look over cars very well, either lazy or inexperienced, cars have a lot of bad paint work, or have other issues that should be corrected b4 they are placed on lot. 2. Service managers also not very experienced or just lazy, not very helpful. Bad paint, dents, lack of consideration for customers. 3. When they deliver the car or would be nice if it was clean. Better to buy a new car than a used one from carmax. Had fender repainted, looked like a Jr high kid did work. Trash in paint, sanding scratches, very poor work, then they did not know how to put pin stripping back on, that should have been my clue to not take car. Purchased Volkswagen SUV at Hulen Mall Carmax. On way home, it overheated with no coolant. They gave me loaner for a week during repair. 4 wks later, smell of gas in the air vents. Sales Mgr said ok to exchange but they didn't have an SUV so he said it's okay to make exchange at Irving location, where I found an Acura SUV. Arrived nor my appointment, the Salesman interrogated me as to why Hellen Mall didn't handle their own exchange. He was mad, rude, belittling, borderline abusive with his demands & insults like I was stupid. He refused to listen & cut me off. This went on for 3 HOURS! Sales Mgr never acknowledged my presence. I completed appl over phone that day. Not sure why I had to do this again? It's the 4th one in 5 weeks! They had me sign over the the Volks before starting on the replacement I selected. Said I was accepted with same terms. Gave him all required documents & ready to sign. He abruptly said, "it's 9pm abs the Business Office is closed. You will need to come back Mon to sign & drive. They hurried me off in the Acura & said it's a test drive. Confused, upset & tired, I went home in the new car. They will work it out & call me on Mon but that never happened. I told them there is a family emergency & I can't come until Tues after work. Never heard from them again. On Tues, I arrive thinking I would sign & go. Salesman said "Give be the keys!" Snatched them & quickly walked away without a word. They said I'm late returning car (my replace my car cause their car broke down!) & Carmax will never do business with me again! They took my new car & my old car (I had for 5 weeks!) & called me an Uber. WHY?? I was in shock. I contacted Corp., said they would investigated & Zelle me down pymt. Dealer said tgey cut my check Monday morning, Thursday, corporate said they have not cut the check yet. They all refuse to tell me why?! Now I'm waiting for money. Have no car. And their legal team is sending me a letter. WHAT? The Sales Mgr said if he was in my shoes he would be mad too! Salesman said I have good credit & money, I can buy a car somewhere else! WHAT? WHY? I am 110% honest. Gave them every required document & was walked out like a criminal. This couldn't really be happening. NO ONE has told me WHY? No questions asked. I would never want anyone to experience this... I am at a loss for words. My story will be told & I will not settle until I have answers. I didn't own the vehicle (from Carmax Hulen Mall) long enough to receive one?? I had it 5 weeks & was never contacted to pick up license plate nor received a title. I've spend 6 hours doing paperwork (2 vehicles), countless hours shopping for the right SUV & 2 hours doing phone applications trying to be proactive. Have an insurance card for BOTH SUV's. My time & money wasted on nothing.... And now they say they can't talk. Their legal team is writing be a letter! Why? read more
