If I could give 6+ stars, I would. I recently bought a new car from this location and the process was the quickest and most simple experience I've ever had (after 6+ months of looking for cars and various dealers across PA and NJ). James was my sales associate and I can't speak highly enough about how thorough and prepared he was. After purchasing the car, I noticed a leftover residue on the trim (likely from the detailing process) and within an hour James had already coordinated a service/detail inspection and followed up with me several times prior to that appointment. At the time of my service/detail appointment, Ethan was fantastic, walking through all the steps/process and keeping me updated of their plan. Rather than keeping me sitting around the waiting room, they got my lyfts to and from my home and continued to check in with me (even as far as sending me photos of the repair itself)! When I came to pick up the car, they inspected the repair with me to make sure I didn't have any other concerns, and went as far as to take my car through the car wash and top off with gas before I left, which I have never had a dealership (private or corporate) do before. Additionally, as part of my Maxcare plan, the repair was covered with no cost to me. I have owned cars through Carmax before from different locations, but they (and other local dealers) should take note of their commitment to customer service, hospitality, and going above and beyond. Great team of customer-focused folks... transfer and appointment based process is not only efficient, but a great way to find the car or cars you want to test drive and have them delivered to the store for you to test drive. It's not your "traditional" car dealership experience and I am so glad it wasn't! EVEN BETTER- the 30 Day Love Your Car Guarantee is a great thing. Having recently taken advantage of this, it truly gives you a chance to know if what you purchased is really right for you. The folks at CarMax (my sales consultant Nicci in particular) were great about understanding my concerns and working with me to find a vehicle that would be perfect for our family. There is no better way to determine if you will like a vehicle or not until you have it with you in your own orbit. Of course you can also take a 24-hour test drive, without going through the entire purchase/finance transaction. As an added note, I live 86 miles from this CarMax (it is closest to me in North NJ). They even do the NJ-based title/tag work! I have not bought or sold a vehicle to anyone other than CarMax since 1998 - Keep up the great work! read more

I didn't think I'd ever have to leave a review for a car sales company but the experience here deemed fitting. About a week ago we went in to get a car appraised for a potential sale to CarMax, and the rep there (Ian, I believe) did the appraisal and took photos, test drove the car, etc. He came back with an offer and said that it's good for 7 days, however because we were from out of town, we didn't have the title with us and would have to go back home to get it. Fast forward 7 days, we got a call from CarMax again letting us know something along the lines of "Hey, it's CarMax, letting you know your value expires today, are you still coming in?" To which we replied - yes, but as we were busy looking for the title and other things that come up in a week's time. We asked "will you honor the same value if we come in tomorrow? (The day after) in which CarMax responded - yes, we will hold that price for you. Fast forward and driving 90 miles later (not in the sale vehicle, by the way), we met Donny, another rep there and he helped us out. He indicated that they would need to do another appraisal and get the value of the car again, and we said fine, but we weren't sure why since nothing has changed about the car we were looking to sell. Some background information - the car we were looking to sell is typically parked in a garage. It was driven to CarMax, and then back to the garage 8 miles away, and then back to CarMax (another 8 miles) to sell. So there was a total difference of approximately 17 miles from the time it was first appraised by Ian, to the time it was getting appraised by Donny. When the offer came back, it was $2,000 less than what was supposed to be "honored." When I asked why, we were told "well it depends on the market. The prices will change." $2,000 drop in less than 24 hours? On top of that, when we provided the title and paperwork to Donny, he had mentioned something came up that the previous rep could have foresaw and told us the week prior, when we first came in. So now after all that was said and done, because of the oversight from the first rep, we wouldn't have been able to sell the car that day to begin with, so now we'd have to drive the car another 8 miles and park it, wait for the document we need, and then **potentially** drive it back to CarMax for the price to drop down even more. What I didn't understand was why this first rep told us they would honor the original value as we were coming in the next day, for them to tell us something else? That is 100% bad business, especially knowing that we were coming from out of state. CarMax KNEW all of this information because it's logged in the system, yet the same rep didn't have the integrity to come out from their office or room to tell us this. An absolute waste of time. This review would have received 0 stars if Yelp allowed it, but Donny did his best and was on the unfortunate receiving end of an agitated customer because of an unprofessional ploy from an even more unprofessional coworker of his. Shout out to Donny but shame on your colleague. read more

While traveling with the car, across country our air conditioning failed. The car was under the initial warranty but we had to bring it back to Bethlehem, PA for repair. We were in St. George, UT & the temperature was 110 degrees! So when we had returned & taken it back to Bethlehem. Chris called & told us it was better to take the car to a mini Cooper dealer. Mind you we recalled when in California to check if we could take it to someone there. Noooooo we HAD to bring it back to Bethlehem. Today my husband returned to pick up the car he sat there 30 MINUTES after checking in at the main desk eventually he simply asked for the keys & someone finally appeared. Took delivery with the promise that they would repair the paint damage on a door and some dings on the hood. They never called us to set up repairs as promised. Our sales person dodged our emails - claimed she never got them. We finally got in contact with Chris the service manager - who claimed that he had no repair orders for our vehicle on his desk, and lied that he was a new employee. Then he dodged our follow up phone calls. We called the CARMAX customer service hotline - they yessed us to death, and made more promises - then still no follow through to repair the paint damage. As soon as the 30-days-to-return your vehicle deadline passed, even the Corporate customer service dodged our emails. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE IN BETHLEHEM. Obviously lying and reneging on promises to customers is their business model. Fortunately this was a cosmetic problem only; what if it was a serious mechanical issue? read more

Had to be the WORST experience ever attempting to buy a vehicle! Bad enough I had to pay $200 to have a truck shipped from Maryland that I was told was going to be refunded when I purchased the vehicle, which was an out right lie! And having to deal with multiple people on several trips back there, each one had no clue as to what was going on with the sale! Then on the final trip there when I was going to make the deal, I was told if I wanted to deal with my credit union ( which is a very well known one in the area) I would have to secure the financing myself and bring them a check! If the Nissan dealer across the road had what I was looking for I would have purchased my truck there! Oh and about the vehicle??? I noticed several things wrong with the truck most of which was repairable but should have been caught by their prestigious crew of technicians! NOT!!! Not only am I out the $200 transfer fee.. They ended up with a $42,000 truck to have on their lot! Funny how they had a 2015 $42,000 truck they wanted to sell me at a payment of close to $875 a month at an interest rate of 13% I was able to go not to far down the road and secure a 2022 truck for $47,000 at an interest rate of 3.9% and payments at $525 a month? This company should be ashamed of doing what they do and how they take advantage of people who don't really know how the game is played! I hope there is a class action law suit against them for how they operate! read more
