I DID NOT buy a vehicle from Carmax Brandywine. however, I did spend a considerable amount of time getting my vehicle transferred dealing with Isaiah. He was very pleasant and informative. The day I was ready to test drive he wasn't available and told me to ask for Phylis. Although, I did not purchase that car, Phylis was excellent in helping with my search. My biggest issue was every vehicle I was interested in needed to be transferred as I was very specific in the options, price and mileage I wanted. Sadly, Carmax will only allow one transfer at a time per person which in turn takes about a week before you can test drive. That alone cost them a sale. My trade in price came in much lower than other dealers but, still would have purchased from them had the vehicles been available in a more timely manor. I can't attest to follow through, but can definitely say I felt I was treated fairly and felt comfortable with both Isaiah and Phylis. I will NEVER return to CarMax Brandywine MD. This place has a really big problem with communication. I went in for a tire rotations and oil change. Picked up my car. I didnt do a walk around my car cause I trusted this business. I got home and saw that my hubcap had fallin off. Note: i just bought this car from them in June so this is the 1st oil change and tire rotation. This was a Thursday called and told them what happened they said soneone would call me back. No call. Friday i showed up there and spoke with Angela and she said they would not replace it but that she would check the price of one and i could get it at their cost. Ok this was Friday morning. She said ill call you later this afternoon. No call Friday No Monday so i call Tuesday afternoon and ask did she get the price but 1st i asked her did you ever try to call me like you said you were. No i didnt. No sorry i didnt call you So i say did you get the price? .yes the hubcap at our coat is $68.13 this is just a standard hubcap for a Toyota Camry. I told her your kidding me right. She say no that's what our cost is. I told her I checked the price myself and they are cheaper than that and Im NOT a dealer. This place is absolutely ridiculous!!!! read more

Honestly I would give Car Max in Brandywine ZERO STARS but since 1 is the lowest, I guess I have to put that down.The overall experience was HORRIBLE ..I thought since they were a relatively new dealership I would give them a try ..WRONG!! I talked to a rep named Joel and he seemed nice at the start of the initial process but as time went on after I secured a free transfer of a vehicle that I chose to test drive, it took so long and other than me constantly calling him to find out what the hold up is with the test drive which I secured a transfer on a Wednesday morning and was told four days it would take in all coming from Baltimore but by the following Wednesday it still was NOT ready to test drive. I wasn't even aware that the vehicle had arrived that Friday until I took the initiative to call him to get an update.He seemed very lax in communicating and I was the one constantly calling to get updates instead of him calling me and I was the potential customer. A good friend recommended that I go to the Car Max in Laurel Md instead .I had a great experience in Laurel and ended up test driving a vehicle and also purchasing that exact one.I was overly pleased with the quality of service and excellent communication with my representative.He went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable with each step taken.Car Max of Brandywine, you should be ASHAMED to call yourselves a place of business! Your salespeople need to take lessons from the salespeople in Laurel on how to treat customers with respect and communication.I will never come back to this location EVER! I have never written a YELP Review before because I usually like to give businesses the B.O.D, but this needs to be said. The only reason they received one star from me is because of Christina the salesperson I worked with to purchase my car. She was fabulous! And it probably had a little to do with the fact the she is also from another state/area. The Waldorf/Brandywine area has HORRIBLE customer service in general, but when you purchase a car and a warranty plan from a dealership you should be able to expect to at least have your phone calls returned! My check engine light has been on and I purchased my vehicle 2 months ago. No problem, I call CARMAX Brandywine hoping to get an appointment for service under my warranty. I've called every single day now for almost 1 week and a half just to set up an appointment!!!!! Needless to say no one has returned my call. I've left several messages but no one has called me back. I'm from California, and I am not used to being treated with such disregard by businesses as a customer. But what can I do, I now realize that this must be the standard customer service for this area. I will take another Yelpers advice on this page and seek assistance from the CARMAX in Laurel. That is completely out of the way for me, but CARMAX Brandywine obviously has no problem making things inconvenient for their customers. read more

I purchased a 2013 F-150 from CarMax September 4th 2016, and this is where it all started, when I test drove it the breaks where shaking pretty bad, said something to the Salesman "Eh it's a big truck, a lot of weight to stop" and asked PLEASE clean the truck, "oh of course we will" get in the truck after signing papers to drive off, and the truck is still rather dirty, no where near as clean as it should be buying a new car from a dealer, but I let it go oh well I'll clean it, and on the way home the breaks SHAKE unbelievably, so I call to get them looked at. "No problem Mr, Musser next date we have available is 2 weeks away" so of course I took the date and had to take off 1 day of work because they didn't have a loaner at the time, so I told them about a squeak when I go over bumps as another issue, so they look at it tell me i need new break pads and roaders, going to take a few hours, then I get a call " Mr, Musser your truck is ready", I go get it and immediately notice the truck is driving better with the breaks but it's still sqeaking, call back "Mr, Musser our next available appointment is 1 month from today, October 18th" at that point I'm pretty mad! So I take my truck there on the 18th to sit there for 3 hours for them to tell me "mr Musser we're going to have to keep the truck for a few days", you know what, that's fine give me a rental! They send me over to Enterprise to get a car, then I get a call last Friday, the truck is going to be a few more days! We have to replace the "automatic steering gear" .Can you bring back the rental so we can give you a CarMax Loaner? So I take back a 2016 Nissan Altima fully loaded, to get a 2013 Chevy Cruze bone stock for 5 days! Right? I spend 35k on a truck and get a 8k "loaner" vehicle on top of that im 6'2 280lb man in a tiny little car... so I get a call this morning "mr Musser your truck is ready for you". I was so happy after a week and 1 days I get my truck back, just to get in the truck to drive to work to hear the same squeak! And on top of that they didn't put a cover back on all the way so it's rattling around making a bunch of racket, so now my 4TH time to the dealership tomorrow! And my 3rd DAY missing work in a month to get this truck fixed with what is supposed to be "CarMax Quality Certified" , I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM CARMAX!!! Carmax in Brandywine has taken $15,000 of my money at this time and will not return it or take my calls or return the deposit even though the car was returned. I purchased an almost new Mercedes Benz at this dealership. Upon taking the car to my dealer to look over, it was determined that the car was in an accident and not repaired properly. The carfax sheet that was given on the car prior to purchase showed it as accident free. When I called on this issue, their management states that the carfax report is a "third party" report and they won't guarantee any of the information that they provide to customers on the condition of any vehicle. Keep that in mind when you consider a purchase at this dealer. I demanded my money back and the car that I turned in (a new car in very good condition) and they said they would do so. I finally have my car back, but they will not return calls and will not give back my deposit even though it was required to be returned within 2-3 business days. That has long past. Carmax overall is a rip off. They sell vehicles they never ensure the condition of and make promises they break when matters like this come up. Ok so I actually did not have my car serviced here that is why I am only giving this 3 stars and those are only for Amanda, I spoke with her on the phone (she would get 5 and the service department would get 0 if I could, so we met in the middle). They were not able to get my car in until May 12 and today is April 25. I bought an Audi A4 from this location at the beginning of this year and had a problem this weekend where it would not drive so I had it towed to CarMax for service because when I purchased this car I purchased the CarMax service plan. It would only make sense that I bring it here for repairs right? Well, they cannot even look at my Car until May 12....17 days from now, that does NOT include the actual repair time, that is just for them to LOOK at it.......VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! The bright side.....Amanda at the service department was VERY helpful. She gave me all of the information on my warranty and how I can use other service providers. AAA service in Brandywine was her first recommendation and subsequently they recommended that only an Audi dealership fix it so that did not work out. However, when I called Amanda back and asked how my service plan would work out with the Audi dealership she was very helpful and emailed me the warranty contact information and also told me that my plan would reimburse me up to $100.00 on my tows which I had no idea and would never had known had she told me that. If I had know this to begin with I could have just had to it towed the first time to the Audi dealership instead of paying for 2 separate tows. I think that this location needs more service mechanics, it should NOT take that long to get a car serviced (or even looked at) and they lost my business on this transaction. I purchased my car from the Laurel location, and have nothing but positive things to say. However, calling this location in brandywine is too much of a hassle. The service department never answers the phone! I was told that you must leave a message for the service department, and within 24 to 48 hours you will receive a call back. I waited for 48 hours and still no call back. Even though this location is much closer to me, I will drive the additional 30 miles to go to Laurel. I've never called a dealership and had to leave a message to request a service appointment. Kudos to Carmax of Laurel for answering my call! read more

So very dissapointed with Carmax. I bought a 2014 BMW X6 on 3-1-15. It had a clear vin check per Carmax. The vin check they provide is NOT Car Facts. It's some other stuff that only Carmax uses. Can you say fishy? The report indicated one owner and no accidents. We took the car to the shop and the vehicle has been in at least two accidents and shoddy repairs were done. So we take the car back the next day. We did not even have the car 24 hours. All was smooth until March 10, 2015 when I get a welcome letter from my new lender congratulating me on my new BMW aNd providing my car payment amount and where to send. WHAT!!!!! So I call Carmax and after two hours on the phone and about ten people I am told the money has been returned to the bank. I call the bank. They say no we have not gotten funds back yet. I call Carmax back and they say oh it's there computers. This goes on for three more days and finally after about six hours of my time I finally get this disaster behind me. No apology. No nothing. This was a miserable experience. I tried to make an appointment the day before, but none was available, so I was told to just show up. I waited by the front door at opening time and they opened up 5 minutes late. A number of people were just sitting around and I was able to get someone's attention - Ricky. I told Ricky the car I was looking at and he walked me out to it. He didn't seem to care about what kind of car I was interested in and was completely unhelpful in finding other suitable options. He couldn't answer relatively basic questions about the car I was looking at. It took him about 20 minutes to clear me for a test drive. When I came back, he wouldn't show me another car I was interested in and was rude and dismissive. I left -- I'd rather go spend my money at a dealer who cares about customer service. read more

March 10th 2015, I bought a car from the Carmax in Brandywine. Not only was the car buying experience a bit frustrating, simply due to a pushy salesman, but within 48hrs of driving the vehicle off the lot, I discovered new frustrations. My tire pressure light came on and after having my pressure checked a couple of times by different  mechanics, the light will not turn off or reset. Also, I realized that one of the keys does not fit my car. So, I called the salesman, who told me that he would have the service department to call me. After a day, I heard nothing from the service department and called  for myself. I left messages for two days. Still, no one returned my calls. I drove to Carmax, only to be told that I must make an appointment. (Yeah, that's why I was calling) The next available appointment was next month (April 9th). When I arrived for my 8 am appointment, it was assumed that I was dropping my car off for the day, which was never communicated. I sat and waited for four hours. At this point, I had to leave to go to work. I was told that my car did not have tire pressure sensors, so they put those in, but they still could not reset the car's system. The the light is still on! Then there was corrosion on my battery, which they replaced. Lastly, the contractors that make keys could not fix my key problem. So now I must make an appointment with Toyota. I've heard  good things about Carmax, but as this has been my first experience with them, I will not recommend them. read more

Online application is only for appraisals or purchasing. In order to get your vehicle serviced, you must call the service department. First call went to an automated answering machine stating to leave your telephone number to receive a call back. I never had luck going this route at the Laurel location, so I called back. Second attempt was successful, a real human being. I explained that I needed an oil change and I was placed on hold. 4 80's rock songs later and while the 5th song began, it finally dawned on me, noone is being held accountable there. I've just wasted 12-15 minutes of my life waiting for a response. Here's the catch, when I accidently sent my info online for appraisal thinking it was for service, I received a phone call in less than 5 minutes. Here's a suggestion, its 2016, how difficult is it to have an app for services? Just an oil change? I have to be this strategic? Businesswise, this is lost income. read more

Me and my girlfriend just bought a car from here and they refused a walk around, did not give the complimentary wash like they said they would, we asked about the smokers smell in the car they said they would take care of that never did i had to myself which is no big deal but if you say your going to do it then do it, we took it back because in the day light we found a few things on it ad well as the low air sensor light was on and they are brand new tires and i checked the air pressure and it was fine they acted like they didnt want to wait on us this is at 4:00pm they said " well out tech's leave at 5:30pm so they wont look at it today " while there was 5 tech's standing around laughing and playing they said bring back tomorrow and drop it off they kept it all day and did a piss poor job on the touch ups they done. The only reason i give a 2 because they worked to lower the price for us other than that there is nothing else to be satisfied about. The sales person did not know half his inventory told us go look ill be back in 10 min to check on you never walked with us to explain anything that should be known about the car such as and features or gas mileage or anything yes they have a window sticker but its nice to see your sales person make an effort read more

I bought my third CarMax car in May 2017 at the Brandywine, MD, dealership. I have no problem with the cars...they've all been reasonably priced and dependable. But Brandywine's after-sales support is horrible. For starters, they were supposed to register my car with Virginia DMV. Not only did they fail to do that, they didn't inform me. My first clue was when I received a refund check for the registration fee. On top of that, they've listed CarMax as the lien holder on the title, even though I paid the CarMax loan in full 3 days after the purchase. When I can get someone in their business office to answer, I get faulty information, like about the emissions test and inspection in Virginia. No one seems to have solid answers, and for sure no one has put forth effort to support me with the after-sales paperwork. Stay away from Brandywine CarMax, ESPECIALLY if you're from a state other than Maryland. read more

This Carmax is by far the worst service I have ever received at a car dealership. The sales department, management, and service department are all awful. I brought a $20,000 car back that I purchased due to some defects such as the rear view mirror shaking, the alignment being off, and the headlights having broken seals and after a day and a half of them having my car they tell me that the car is perfectly aligned. Mind you that I brought the car back during the 30 day warranty. They also lied to me over the phone telling me that the mirror and the headlights had been fixed only for me to go to pick the car up that evening and be told that "The headlights and mirror will need to be replaced so they have been ordered". As far as im concerned they do little to no work and lie about doing such. I highly recommend people to stay away from this carmax if you would like to have honest good service. read more

CarMax in Brandy has the absolute worst customer service. From car purchasing to car servicing. First we were never told the car we wanted and had transferred arrived. Then we came to the store with a check from my financing bank. Instead of CarMax putting my financing bank as the lender on the title they put themselves down. Mistake two...it took 6 months for CarMax to correct the mistake with MVA and place the correct lender on the title. When ever you need your car served it takes at least a month to get an appointment. Then by the time you get your car in to be serviced no on calls you about what is wrong with your car. I had to call and leave messages for my Customer Advisor 4 times to find out what is wrong with my car. I dropped my car off the night before the appt. By 2pm the next day no calls, then I started placing my calls to find out what was going on. Only to be told my car has not been seen yet...wth! Never will I use Brandywine CarMax services ever again. read more
