Car's Masters Good afternoon everyone! My name is Ben, as of today May 5th, 2025 at 4:23pm I went to the shop and asked what will they do to compensate me for paying $2,500 because I have taken my vehicle to TOYOTA dealership to have my transmission flush and change and an oil change and they saw that the ENGINE REAR MAIN SEAL HAS A LEAK. I have never had a problem about any leaks under the hood, engine or transmission of my vehicle before. I have just purchased the vehicle last November, 2024. My cousin owned a business who works for the dealerships in Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach as an Interior and exterior of used or new cars cosmetics. If there's a leak or problem. I would have saw it before from being parked on a parking space. I brought it to them to have my transmission flushed and changed and an oil changed. They have over filled the oil in my transmission. COMMON SENSE, WHAT WILL HAPPENED TO A CAR WHEN YOU OVER FILLED OIL THE TRANSMISSION??? I will let you guys think and decide. AND IF YOU SHOULD BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP. I will post some proof and evidence that I am not making any story about it. I wish I can upload a video also. With that being said. You will be the judge of all photos I am going post here. This is the CAR'S MASTERS in LITTLE CREEK NORFOLK VIRGINIA who have done worked on my vehicle and cost a high dollar damage that will not take responsible for it. I even told the Manager Amanda, If there was leak they should have not done any work on my vehicle. WHY THEY DID NOT INFORM ME? Basically, theres no leak. They have over filled oil the transmission that cause that leak on a engine rear main seal. She said, the girl who assist me got fired. I think, she should get fired also and the Mechanic. That is Negligent for what they did to my car. I told Amanda that I will file a lawsuit and she responded with 'Well, the boss of the shop is a lawyer'. To me, is that a threat? So, even If I bother filing a lawsuit I will not win the case? So, I would like for everyone to know that this what happened of my vehicle and the situation that I was in with this shop. You all can decide if you should bring your vehicle to them and experience it on your own. GOD IS ALWAYS WATCHING! What you did to me CAR'S MASTERS, KARMA IS REAL! God blessed everyone! read more

When for a vehicle inspection and they "failed" me for brakes and my license plate light. Then when I went back to the report to re-inspect after taking it to my own mechanic closer to home it said fail was only on license plate light....sketchy. Be wary of predatory shops who want to fail you based on your gender...pink tax Edit & update: my official state inspection only failed on my license plate, light which I replaced, and have chosen to get my vehicle re-inspected after having my brakes done by a reputable mechanic that I personally know. I am not going to rescind my negative review of this business, because when I checked my official state inspection, it passed brakes after being informed that my brakes were in need of, but still within the guidelines of being able to pass the state inspection minimum. It is a very serious alligation to imply that someone needs to have more substantial work done on their vehicle then is required by law and my state inspection will be completed by someone closer to my home and not by someone right outside of a military installation. I was recommended a significant 38 items to be inspected and or repaired, including why my washer fluid was low to the tune of a $280 diagnostic fee to determine why my washer fluid was low in my vehicle. To me, those seem like predatory practices by a business. read more

This business tried to take advantage of my elderly father. He went in for a state inspection. They recommended a $100+ oil change and refill on coolant. I told my dad to refuse any service as the oil was changed last month. Once home the check engine light came on. I'm lucky enough to have someone who was able to assess that they took off the intake valve forcing the check engine light to go off. He fixed it in 10 minutes and saved us hundreds of dollars. Do not recommend and I will be contacting the BBB. read more

Tracey is kind. Full warning though only go here if you already know what your car needs or if the work is minor. Our experience was unethical. We went to them with a list of priority concerns. $600 worth of diagnostic test later (which did not include an additional $400 they wanted to check the engine light and fog indicator light) they gave us a list of work that needed to be done (we thought this work would address our list of concerns ) so $4296.45 was paid for them to do the work. After they finished they realized the issues were not resolved and said it would be another $209 for them to check what they think the actual problem is. We declined. The car drives the same or worst at times and they couldn't care less. The additional diagnostic should have been free of charge especially since $600 worth of diagnostics was already paid. (They wanted over $1200 for diagnostics only to address our concerns) Front desk is kind though. So if you want friendly customer service and you know the work is minor this is the place for you! Otherwise get multiple opinions before trusting them to do a proper diagnostic..you will be overcharged. read more

So. I called up to the place to ask about replacing a stuff and lug nut on my car Bavaria i broke it off. Over the phone I was told $130. I have them my car. They called me back once they had my car and told me $221. After they did it they said the labor took an extra hour so the cost jumped to $443. Needless to say, I won't patron this place again. Mislead. read more

Went in to get a axel replacement and BEFORE they touched anything they asked if I wanted to get a diagnostic test done BEFORE going through with what I originally wanted I said yes so they did that and called me saying it was my barring and when ask what the price was going to be it was a different price then what was Originally discussed plus they did a flush of my transmission fluid I Did NOT Ask for that ... I was already upset with the random amount of number and prices they kept changing so I asked for the price to just drop it down and put it how it was The minute I drove off the brake felt weird and when I took it to a different shop to get the barring fixed they then stayed the prior shop AKA CARMASTERS put my axel in wrong witch ended up BREAKING A BRAND NEW AXEL I HAVE RECEIPTS ON btw that axle was not even 3 weeks old and I had air in my brake system. I paid almost 4 hundred at this shop for a transmission flush I never asked for and a diagnostic And they broke my car more than what it was.. read more

WOW! After calling 62.1million places to get my car inspected and they all having such a long wait... I stumbled upon this place-right around the corner from my house. From the woman answering the phone all the way through the end I have NEVER had such an AMAZING customer experience anywhere else! When I called she said there was a 0 wait-my mouth dropped and I hurried to get there, thinking.... This can't be life. Lol 5 minutes later I was pulling up and less than an hour later I was on my way with no issues! NOW, I have been driving for 17 years and regularly get inspections or maintenance done to my car and I have never had a better experience! It was truly HER that made all the difference in my day, she was calm, polite and professional! Thank you soooooo much for such an amazing morning! We need more people like you in the world. :) read more

I went in for a simple inspection. They replaced my gas cap with one that doesn't attach to my car. They tried to charge me to fix both wipers even though they explicitly stated only one had any issues. My check engine light turned on 2 days after leaving. They threw away my parking sticker for my apartment (literally my own property). This is after I explicitly told them not to remove it or to peel it back and place it somewhere else in the car. They literally ripped it up and put it in the trash! I was TOWED from my own HOME this weekend due to not having this sticker. ($155 despite picking it up within hours; does not include Uber cost) I will NEVER go to a carmasters again and you shouldn't either. They also overcharged both me and my friend. They replaced her battery saying that was the issue with her car. 10 days later her car shutoff on the highway due to a "battery issue" Go somewhere else, and if you have a good mechanic can you let me know about them too? read more

If you make an appointment for a vehicle inspection, they will reschedule you, tell you to leave it overnight , and make excuses. There is very little profit on a vehicle inspection, but what they fail to realize is a customer will return if they receive good service. I drove out here only to be rescheduled for the nth time. Avoid. read more

Failed a state inspection with them for a laundry list of items to include wipers, brakes, battery mounting, ball joints, etc. Went into another place to get a second opinion and was told that one of the items was unneeded completely, and that the total of the rest of the items came out to a third of the price that Carmasters Automotive quoted me. Do not recommend going to them for work or inspections read more

I came in for a simple $20 inspection. I've waited in there lounge for 5+ hours. I was finished with my inspection within 2 hours and I was told I had headlights that needed replacing. Sounded like no big deal. That's when things went south. During that time I was given multiple quotes for my car every hour and a half. It started from $149 then jumped to $300 then it jumped again to $549!! Why did you keep hiking up the prices while labor is going on so I couldn't purchase the parts privately and be charged the labor??! 5 hours into the servicing after I received the $549 quote I asked politely to purchase the parts and come back but they were still going to charge me for labor!!! Horrible HORRIBLE customer service! Do not recommend this business! 0 out of 5 stars if I could! read more

My husband and I used Car Masters and I feel as if my life was put in danger twice with the work that they were supposed to perform on our car. We went to them for electrical diagnostics (the car was having intermittent power issues and we suspected a bad electrical ground somewhere in the car) and a vehicle inspection. They inspected the car (the price was high as others have commented) and they charged for the electical diagnostic (they said that they cleaned the connection points and the car ran fine). Once the car passed inspection, I picked the car up and barely made it to work before the car died. This is the first instance of danger because it could have easily died before then while on the road. Our insurance towed it back to them. They had it for a week before we were informed that they had given up on the issue. We arranged a tow to another shop (Matlock in Hampton who did a wonderful job!) while trying to get a refund because they were unable to fix the problem. It was incredibly difficult to get in contact with a manager. We were only able to get a partial cash refund after the manager realize that the car had already been towed away (he claims they have a policy to never give up on car issues). Since then the car has been making hollow clunking noises, particularly in the front left side. Common wisdom said it was likely the struts. We arranged to replace them. During that process, it was found that the front left brake caliper was missing a bolt, and the caliper was flapping in place. The conclusion that we have reached (since the clunking began the first day I picked the car up after the inspection) is that they were likely remiss in securing the caliper during their inspection. The calipers were brand new and had no issues previously. Like the power system, the calipers are essential and that car was unsafe to drive without functioning brakes. It was dangerous and we could have seriously been injured or killed. Edit: I have added some detail for clarity and specified that it is my personal feeling that our lives were endangered. Make your own decision. We were customers of Carmasters (though it was not my name that the car was under). We have since decided to not return as customers and with the partial refund, I was happy to let this go. It was the realization that the caliper was loose that has driven the posting of these reviews. It was a bridge too far in customer care and service. This has been an expensive and massive headache with a great deal of worry and stress. In the beginning we were very happy with the communcativeness of Carmasters (their website and text updates were helpful). However, once the car returned to them, it was insanely difficult to get concrete answers or updates. It was a struggle and when we finally asked what their plan was, their response can be summarized as "Don't really know. I guess we could replace the alternator again to see if that fixes it or take it to Tidewater Electric". read more

I was traveling and out of state when my car broke down. Employees at Car Masters stayed almost two hours past closing time to try and get my car fixed that same day. When it was clear they would need more time for a different mechanical issue, they get started working on my car the very next morning so I could continue on my way. Very pleased with the customer service! read more

Don't ever. Ever. And I mean ever come here!!! On my way here to get my state inspection done my hot air was defrosting just fine.. When it was my turn to get inspected which took 5 and a half hour when there were just four cars ahead of me. The defroster "magically" stopped working.... Really rude people They wanted to charge $90.00 just to "diagnose" I strongly and confidently believe that they did something to my vehicle. read more

We took our 2000 Chrysler 300 M to have 4 new struts installed, after pick up of our car we had not gotten 1 block before entire brake caliper fell off the left rear wheel and was dragging in the street, NO Q&A ! When techs come to look at car in parking lot the stated they would just put plastic tie wraps to hold it up until my wife could drive it back to shop and then even after that was repaired we still had a problem with a bushing that was worn out but they didn't see that and had to take car back in again for additional repairs. DON'T TRUST THEM WILL NOT RETURN FOR ANY WORK AT ALL read more

I went for an inspection and I failed for rear tires and a missing lug nut. I was told that it would cost $737.00 to fix everything. It was going to cost $150.00 to fix the lug nut which I got done for $50.00. I put two used tire s on the car which only cost $70.00. the Lug nut only cost about $7.00. I spent just over $120.00 to fix my car. That is a far cry from the $737.00 that I was quoted from here. I was told that people are failed for inspection so that the company can make money. I also was that I need a new filter. Buyer Beware!!!!!! read more

Do not bring your car here. Customer service is terrible. Had a belt replaced fell off a week later because they never checked the tensioner which is automotive 101 when a belt fails. Had to pay for a tow back to them to replace the tensioner that was the original problem $1,200 dollars later. They broke a intake hose while doing the same repair twice and said they didn't and will review the photos of the engine they took but couldn't do it cause their system was down and will call me back I'm still waiting 2 weeks later. The intake hose they broke cost me an additional $200.00. Don't believe the thing about helping veterans as I'm ex navy and they knew it. Nobody contacted me even after going to their web site and clicking how can they make it right. Save your money and bring your car here. read more

Do not trust this shop, its mechanics, its staff, and most of all its new CEO. On Jan. 25, 2023, I called to the status of my vehicle; in which they replied, they were waiting on the part to come in. In Jan. 26, 2023, I called to check on the vehicle and they replied it just came out of service. Upon arriving at Carmaster, the service technician stated that the part was repaired not replaced. In the short term, "Jimmie-rigged," the part again to make it function again. Did I say again, "Yes, again"? This shop replaces the old shifter two years ago for the same problem and now I am wondering now if they even replace the shifter or just repaired it to cash in on the warranty. In addition, this is the third time, I have had to bring it in, and now being told I have to pay for the part, if it goes bad well bad is not the case here. No stars or recommendations and I will inform the company they used for the warranty. Stay away! read more

Service to my car was very good. The employees were very friendly. The only complaint would be the customer lounge- carpet is very dirty, the wall's are dingy the back part of the room looked like a storage closet. So car masters has done quite a bit of work to my vehicle this past year but I do not recommend them based on the following. They had my vehicle for about three months and when they returned it- it had over heating issues. It could not run the engine more than 30 min without it overheating. I take said vehicle back in and they provide their remedy at a $600+ premium. When I go to pick up vehicle it is left out in the elements despite providing an all weather car cover. The vehicle is a vintage OPEN AIR vehicle that gets destroyed when left out in the rain et al. Carmasters doesn't really care about that even though it literally takes 30 seconds to put the supplied cover on it! I drive the vehicle home then I run it over the weekend and it still over-heats within half an hour of continuous run time!!! I take photos and send them in of all the radiator fluid all over my drive way and garage. So today I take the vehicle to Precise Auto which is closer to my house- they call me within an hour to tell me that my vehicle DOES NOT HAVE A THERMOSTAT!! I have no idea where my thermostat went and why carmasters charged for their bogus "fix." What kind of shop doesn't check for a thermostat when a vehicle is over heating? I did receive a call back from car masters later in the day. They apologized for my "bad experience" but they have no problem keeping the $600+ they took without providing an actual service. I highly recommend taking your vehicle some that actually fixes your vehicle before they take your money. Carmasters is not that place. In response to Jim B. My vehicle was brought back to carmasters because it was pissing radiator fluid everywhere (which was never an issue until I got my vehicle back from carmasters, after you had it for the entire summer) I authorized carmasters to FIX the pissing of the radiator fluid. When carmasters returned my vehicle it was STILL PISSING RADIATOR FLUID. Car masters did not fix the issue I brought my vehicle in to fix- PERIOD. /BREAK And, carmasters also left my rag top vehicle out in the rain to be destroyed even after I left car masters an all weather cover that takes seconds to deploy. Something you ignored in your response. Acting like that did not happen was exactly the same response I received when I picked up the vehicle and had to shovel pools of water off the rag top and drive home while sitting in a puddle of water. Again, I do not recommend taking a vehicle to cardisasters. You tell them what is wrong with your vehicle and they rely on some machine for a remedy while they neglect critical thinking human skills all together. read more

Highly recommend Carmasters! Excellent service, good prices, very fair and honest. In August, we brought our daughter's car to them, needing many things to pass inspection, & they fixed everything while we waited, and even let us know that some items could wait, & would still pass inspection. Carmasters is extremely professional and honest. I took my car in for a tire alignment and was called by Aaron as to why I needed the alignment since the tires did not show any wear. He did not want to perform an unnecessary service. I explained that the tires were brand new, purchased from Costco, and they advised that I get a tire alignment immediately. I won't ever buy tires again at Costco because I prefer a one- stop shop. Aaron then said it now made sense as to why the tires looked so good and that he also advised an alignment when purchasing four new tires. Thankfully, instead of just mindlessly doing the alignment, he informed me of another problem with the wheels and advised repair. What could have been a dangerous situation was averted by Carmaster's attention to detail. My husband, who is in the car business, confirmed that the repair was needed as stated, and how fortunate we were that the repairman had paid attention to detail, unlike Costco. We are so grateful for Carmaster's dedication to service, fitting me in at the last minute on Black Friday, and staying way past closing to finish the job. They empathized with the fact that I live in Miami, was leaving town on Saturday, and that my 94 year old mother is driven around by her caretakers. They understood that I could not go home knowing that my Mom was being driven around in an unsafe car and I could not leave the repair up to the caretakers. It is so rare to find service people who are willing to go out of their way, especially on a holiday week-end. By the way, they refused a tip and were just happy that they had a satisfied customer. Cheers to you, Carmaster's! read more
