July 26th, picked up my car at another shop, 2300$ had a problem in the parking lot left it, they wanted 2800$ more to fix. Once again, I go to first landing, drop it off, got the call back 2 hours later, loose belt, its ready. Im STUPID, I was trying to save money and got robbed. Highly recommend not taking your car here . Due to the location of this place, they take advantage of people with high labor cost and high parts cost. They wanted to charge me $2,200 to change out O2 sensors. They wanted to charge me over $600 for the parts and almost $1,400 for labor. I ordered the parts myself for $200 and changed out the O2 sensors in less than 30 minutes. They tried telling me the labor is high due to the fact that it would take almost 4 hours to get them changed out. read more

(That included a 100% markup on parts). Normal price for that work should be about $250 to $350 at worst. The Service Advisor unapologetically admitted that the work was unnecessary. DO NOT GO HERE! I visited First Landing Auto Care in September for a state inspection, tire rotation and alignment. As an engineer myself I'm extremely disappointed in the shoddy work and lack of care shown to my vehicle. I replaced my front break pads yesterday, 28 February, the front left wheel came off with no problem. The issue came with the front right tire. We jacked up the car and loosed almost all of the bolts. One of the bolts was torqued well over 200 ft-lbs. However 7/16 bolts are supposed to be torqued between 80-100 ft-lbs. Subaru foresters specifically are rated for 83 ft-lbs. I am unsure if the mechanic that day had a bad day and was being lazy and decided to use the impact randomly when tightening the lug nuts. But one of the lug nuts completely sheered off. Basic mechanic problems come from under or over torqued bolts. Not only is the pricing obscenely over market rate but the work is also sub par. I've been in quality assurance of engine overhauls for the last 4 years, and this type of carelessness is unacceptable. I do not trust First Landing Auto to fix the problem they created and will be pressing the bolt and reinstalling myself. Following torque specs is a basic mechanic/engineering practice and although it may seem like going the extra mile to make sure it is done properly, not doing so can cause catastrophic failure in engines and mechanics. I think what most of us try to avoid is inflated prices and being taken advantage of, which is why I'm writing this review. If you look at my other reviews you will see that I am fair knowing how vital word of mouth is to a business' success but I would recommend to NEVER take your car here. My car is older and while I agree that I forgot to replace a fog light that was out, they wanted to charge me $187.00 to replace that and a license plate bulb that was out. As someone that does my own car maintenance, I found this to be laughable for something that cost me $22 to fix myself. When I said I would be fixing it myself, he proceeded to try and convince me otherwise by trying to establish a sense of urgency. I will NEVER take my car here again. Sure, they will offer you all kinds of things to spend money on, that's the job of a shop.. you don't have to agree. I brought my car in for a state inspection. They sent me the inspection run down and said my left front marker light on my 2016 Jeep wrangler was out and it wouldn't pass inspection without it. I authorized them to change the light bulb. When I picked it up I was floored to find that the cost was $117, the state inspection was only $20. They said that the labor for replacing the light bulb was alot for my vehicle. I looked up the procedure on Youtube when I got home and it only takes less than 5 minutes to change that light bulb. They charged me $4.35 for the bulb which is not bad, but $84.41 for labor. I will not be returning to FL for anything, suggest you don't either. read more

I paid $115 for an oil change and state inspection which is pretty steep in my experience. No issues with the staff or service, they were fine. Car failed inspection for a few reasons, asked how much it would be to fix them and was told about $1300. Sway bar links on Amazon are 34$ and the headlight fixture I needed to replace was about $140. That comes out to a little over $1100 in labor for two relatively superficial fixes that I'll do at home. Again, pretty steep. Overall, no issues with staff and service but if you're looking to save a buck or even pay an average market price, this probably isn't your place. I wish I'd looked at other reviews prior to scheduling because looks like some others have complained about prices as well. Only gave them a second star because they do have after hours pick up and left a "thank you bag" with a couple mints. read more

LADIES BEWARE! 2013 Volvo In need of a safety inspection, I took my car to First Landing Auto Care, which we have used for several repairs in the past without issue. Auto repair is usually something my husband handles. I brought the car in myself, and it failed. I ended up with a quote for over $900.00 to complete repairs. Something just did not sit right with me. I called the dealership to compare pricing. Every part listed on the estimate from First Landing was marked up anywhere from 50 to 100%! And labor charged for Each little item, including changing out windshield wipers blades. Example: most expensive part First Landing charge was over $400.00 Volvo charge $233. (Which is the quote Volvo gave him) I called First Landing back and asked If this is normal practice to charge that much for parts. I was told " I just put the part in the computer, and there is nothing I can do about the pricing. This part was not in there system, which he told me, and had to find the part. So, someone had to put a price in the system! I believe that a small blonde woman was taken advantage of. Long story short...yes the things that he wrote did need to be fixed. But my $900. The only reason I decided on this place was because I had a nail in my tire and was hoping to get a quick patch. I figured any old gas station repair shop would do since it's a simple task that i just lacked the tools for. Well I will say that this place goes above and beyond what my expectations were. Now I have only been here once, but I will certainly go back again when my vehicle is in need. When I walked into the waiting area I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy rocking chairs, and coffee / water available. It actually looked like a place I would not mind waiting in while my car got fixed. I was easily able to wait, since my vehicle was immediately looked at and taken back for repair. Granted mine was an easy repair, but the sense of expedient service was there. I was more impressed, not with my own repair, but with how other customers were treated while I was there. Some were offered a pick up or a drop off from / to home as a courtesy, and everyone was fully explained all repairs and issues that were found. Overall the standard that First Landing Autocare seems to hold themselves to is very high. this is more than just your average gas station oil change garage. It is a well run, and professional place in the neighborhood that will certainly be a go to when my car is in need. read more

First Landing Auto Care quoted my car at $850 for a new starter- without checking the issue properly. I was also told that I needed other work done, making my total charges nearly $1,300. Although I am well aware that starters can be pricey, it is absurd to charge this for a replacement. Additionally, my car was towed here and felt that First Landing was taking advantage of the situation by over charging me. Ultimately I had my car towed to another auto body shop where they made an adjustment to the battery for only $130 because the starter was not even the issue. My husband and I try to support this business because they are local. Their price on gas is a bit higher than others, but again, they are local. The staff is always personable. However, we paid $150 for an inspection and oil change. Our 2016 Toyota Highlander was failed because of a windshield wiper! So we had them replace it - $28. Girlfriend arrived for a 1:00 SCHEDULED inspection at 12:45. After an hour, at approx 2:00, she was told she needed new wiper blades. She agreed knowing this should only take minutes. After 25 more minutes she went to the front desk and was told they didn't have 1 of the wiper blades in stock and it was being delivered. At 2:45 she had wiper blades replaced and was out the door - 2 hours after arriving. 2 hours is extremely excessive for a scheduled inspection. Will not return. read more

This was my first experience with FL. It may be my last. I made an appointment for 8 am. I was there before 8 and was one of the first in the office. I requested that my brakes be inspected and then to receive a call to discuss the findings. At 2:30 that day, I had heard nothing. I called and was told the tech was looking at my truck then. So 6 1/2 hours had elapsed, and no work had been done. Why? I had an 8 am appointment. At 3:30, FL called, told me what they thought should be done with my rear brakes, and I authorized the work. The service advisor said they'd have to order the parts and my truck should be ready by 5 pm the next day. At 2:30 on day 2, I received a call and was told it was ready. Why wasn't the brake inspection and needed work promptly done on day 1? Fortunately, I was able to do without my vehicle for another day. Most people can't. There was no communication from FL saying the work was delayed and would go into the next day. I learned this because I called. FL also sent me a detailed list of all the work they recommended be done to my truck that totaled $2,000. I didn't ask for this kind of inspection/assessment to be done. No wonder the work I wanted done took so long. This smacks of trying to upsell more work instead of doing promptly what I asked to be done. They charged me $600 for rear brake pads and rotors. Seems a bit high. They also charged $85 to inspect the brakes and ~$70 for "job supplies" in addition to the cost of parts. And then there's $76 in labor to replace a burned out brake light bulb! Now, the office staff was certainly courteous and professional. But the overall experience left me thinking I should consider other service providers, although I may give FL another chance. If I do, I will ask a lot more questions and set some clear expectations. read more

I am sorry to give this review but this is solely based off of what we found after getting an estimate with this place. We came here on the assumption that it was rated well from other Yelp reviewers. The lady was nice on the phone and all. But after getting the estimate for the cost of repairs and finding out later at home, that one of the recommended issues for replacement and repair was actually not needed, we were upset to find out that they would have charged us to replace a full windshield washer pump(Which obviously is not broken, thanks to our findings) when the fuse was the only problem. Something didn't sit right with my husband about the charges so he wanted to check around to be sure. However we got curious. After having no front windshield wiper fluid coming out on the front windshield for the past couple of years we weren't sure what was happening and if it was the pump or a clog in the line or something else. So I researched and one of the videos I watched on YouTube (OF ALL PLACES), the guy First and foremost immediately went to the fuse box first and checked the fuse. Sure enough his fuse was blown. So that sparked an interest in my husband and I both to check our fuse. Once we found the right fuse we pulled it out and lo and behold it was burned out. And would you believe when we put one of the spares in that was already in the fuse box, in place of the burned fuse that our windshield wiper fluid now sprays on our front windshield? IT WORKS! IT'S NOT BROKEN, JUST A BLOWN FUSE! This shows me that this company did not take the time to look at the fuse box first to see if there were any burned-out fuses and they just automatically assumed (or intentionally blamed) it was the pump so thus charging us $170 to replace a pump that, who knows if they even knew, whether it was truly broken or not. PLEASE PLEASE YALL. ALWAYS get a second opinion or check your fuse panel for any blown fuses. We found out on our own that we didn't have to spend $165. It cost us $0. If I could give zero stars I would. Took my 2013 truck in for an inspection and was presented with a rejection for a "moisture on a shock". I showed the technician the Virginia code for shock leaks and my truck passes. The technician then changed the stance to the "shock was totally blown". The shop wanted $1076.98 to replace a shock to give me an inspection. I then got into my truck which smelled like someone had spilled a gallon of gas in it. Very unprofessional and predatory. I needed my truck inspected to evacuate my family due to a hurricane and this shop was the worst choice I could have made. Do yourself a favor and pick another shop. read more
