I dropped my vehicle off here on a weekday for an inspection right at opening at 8am. Ken was very kind and helpful at the front desk. They managed to finish the inspection at about 9am with a pass. However, they found a small leak in my power steering fluid hose. He called me and I accepted that they go ahead and order the hose and I'd get it done there. I am very pleased with the service I received and how knowledge Ken was with my car. He also took pictures of the hose and everything surrounding it so hubby could see for himself. Side story: I had taken my vehicle to another shop close to work and they quoted me $700 for the job. They did not explain anything to me and quite frankly I wanted another opinion). I will be coming here from now on! I also like the idea that they are local being 2 minutes down the road from me, and they've been in business for many years and not a big box company. read more

We have our fleet vehicles for work all serviced here, and they always do a great job, so i decided to give them a try and bring in my own vehicle for an oil change and also to look at an issue i was worried about and thought would be costly. Ken was super nice and had it checked out and thankfully it was not what i thought, and was actually a simple fix. So relieved to find an honest shop that wont take advantage of you. After my Mini Cooper started having problems one weekend, I dropped my car off at this shop after hours. Ken contacted me the following morning explaining the exact problem and the costs associated with the needed repairs, and he said the car would be ready later that afternoon. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a more friendly and knowledgeable individual to work on your car. He even took time to text me days later to see how my car was doing. I have gone back and forth with this review. Should I give 2 Stars or 3? For now I'll go with 2 and give as fair of an explanation as I can, you decide for yourself. I found out about Bells Mill Auto Care May 21, 2013. I know this because it is written on my NAPA Bells Mill Auto Care, 757vipcard which my mother in law, wife and I purchased for $99.95. This card was sold door to door and clearly states that Bells Mill Auto Care agreed to honor all discounts on the card and the card does not expire. November 24,2014 I found that Bells Mill Auto Care no longer honors the top portion of the card because 757vipcard was no longer in business. The issue I have is that no where on the card is there a null and void statement in the event of 757vipcard going out of business. The Proprietor of Bells Mill Auto Care, Russ Gibson stated since the services I received totaled more than $99.95 then we were even in fact he said I came out ahead. The disagreement I have is the purchase I and my family paid for services at a rate agreed upon by both us and Bells Mill Auto Care. Mr Gibson, in fact, broke his end of the agreement. This is disappointing because until yesterday we were completely satisfied with the service we have received from Bells Mill Auto Care. We can no longer do business with a person who has no regard for the contract that was made upon purchase. I guess it's back to the big warehouse type Auto centers. read more

Good, trustable alternative to the high cost dealerships. I first found this shop because of the closeness to my house and a recommendation from a good friend but they have my recommendation for much more than just convenience. I've taken multiple cars there for inspection and had extensive work done on my wife's old Ford Explorer (Thank goodness it's gone! But that'd be a whole different review.) I have finally found an outstanding repair shop! I have options closer to where I work but I am not happy with their customer service. Even though I have to skip a day of work to take my vehicle to Bells Mill it is worth it! I trust Russ and his entire crew with the work they preform. The friendly reception you get when you walk in the door and cleanliness of the shop, this only adds to the confidence and respect I have for this business. I have been going to Bells Mill Auto for the past 4 yrs and have NEVER encountered a probelm with customer service. The owner is as honest and fair as it gets. In fact, I drive quite a distance out of my way to have my vehicle serviced by Bells Mill. They are the ONLY mechanics I trust. They fix the problem without "creating" more work just to rack up the bill and always suggest less expensive options if they apply. The building and work area is always clean and tidy, they are always friendly and curteous to all who approaches them - whether its work related or not. They are a rare find and I wish there were more honest "good ole boys" shops out their for those who need a fair price and service you can always depend on. read more

I have found Russ and his crew to be very honest and professional mechanics who can get the job done. I like the fact that they're an independently owned garage that knows how to take care of their customers. Just today I needed help loosening a large seized bolt on my commercial lawnmower so I drove it down the street to Bells Mill Auto Care and the fellas there were glad to help, even though it proved to be more stubborn than initially thought. I have a new business on my Do not Patronize list...Bells Mill Auto Care. Reason you ask? I purchased a VIP card mainly for free state inspections and oil changes. Key word= purchased. Long story short: The Honda needed a few things done to pass inspection. When I proceeded to take my car to Dr. Honda who was going to do the same work for $100 cheaper (AND I offered to let Bells Mill match the price...they declined), the owner said to me, "I don't wanna keep give you free state inspections and oil changes if you're just going to carry your business elsewhere." Excuse me???? Well my friends, that right there just solidified why I carried my business over to Dr. Honda. They are honest, legit, and fairly priced. I HIGHLY recommend them. And to top things off, when I tried to bring the Honda back to Bells Mill for reinspection today, the inspector isn't coming in til 4pm. How convenient!! The guy blamed me for not calling ahead even though he told me they don't do appts for state inspections.... I let the guy know that I didn't appreciate his comment insinuating that he didn't want to do anything else free and he said I had some audacity to take my business to Dr. Honda. Umm...$100 cheaper?? I told him right in front of another waiting customer too....I said, "Didn't I buy this card?"- Yes, "Didn't you agree to the terms of this card?" -Yes, "Well, then that's not audacity to get the work done for $100 cheaper, that's smarts." -I guess so. These guys are the best! They put my sons 2002 VW Golf up on the racks and showed us exactly what the problem was. Being just a Mom they explained what needed to be done in a language that I could understand. Other shops made me feel stupid when I had to ask questions. I have even been laughed at to my face when I have asked questions that were apparently supposed to be obvious. You will never feel that way at Bells Mill Auto Care. Mark and his team are professional, courteous and extremely knowledgeable. They are confident enough in what they know that they can break down the "man talk" and they know how to talk to us ladies. You won't be disappointed. They are honest and their work is dependable. I rest better knowing that my teenager is on the road in a vehicle that has been serviced by Bells Mill Auto Care. While I have never had the honor of meeting the owner Russ in person, I have had the opportunity to speak with him on the phone a few times. Russ has gone out of his way to be accommodating. He has always done what he has said he was going to do. While I have taken my son's car back more than once, it has NEVER been for rework! The Team at Bells Mill Auto has a way of making my son and I feel like we are their only priority when we walk in the shop. Wife called and asked if they could give estimate for repair of electrical issue. Dropped van off. Upon call back, I was told repair would be $700+ to replace some parts I was given a vague description of. I refused to get it repaired. I went in and picked it up. I was charged $107 for the estimate and told it was because they had to tear the door apart (pull cover off it). When I asked for the part numbers of the parts that needed to be replaced I was told that could not be provided. So, I paid $107 for absolutely nothing. I don't even have a list of parts that need to be replaced! Never again! read more

I left a review for these guys a couple of months ago, after dropping my wifes car off off to get the starter replaced and a front end alignement, after 4 days, an overpriced charge for rebuilt starter and an alignment that was not corrected( had to have it redone at another shop the next day) needless to say I was not happy with the service at all or the phone tag , overall just a poor experience. read more

I will not take my vehicle there again. The manager/owner Ken has no personality, unlike the previous manager/owner-Russ. I had my wife's vehicle towed in to Bells Mill for what I thought was a solenod/starter issue. Turned out to be just a battery. The vehicle was under warranty from the manufacturer and the blower motor was making a clicking sound. I also had a headlight connector which was bad and in need of repair. I figured I get this "all" done while in the shop. Ken quoted me $696.69 to do this job. Absolute highway robbery!!! I told Ken I just wanted the blower motor repaired as I could replace a ad battery and replace the defective headlight connector. My new quote was $302.62 of which the warranty paid all but $40.00. Not bad! Funny thing...when I informed Ken that I hosted wanted the blower repaired, it took them about an hour to fix it and Ken was calling me to pick up our vehicle. When I picked the vehicle up I asked Ken if i could get the part he replaced. He stated that their was a core charge. I call b.s.!!! A $100.00 part cost me $302.64! Outrageous! Thank God for the warranty. I will never take my vehicle there again and will dissuade others in the future from having their vehicles repaired at Bells Mill Auto. Hope this helps. read more

My cousin referred me to this shop, he called and set up my vehicle to be seen by "Bob" "the best tech they have" he said. My power steering reservoir was leaking and I needed spark plugs and a throttle body cleaning. This is on a 2004 Acura MDX. I also needed a synthetic oil change and I asked to have NGK spark plugs installed. I bought the vehicle used and the wheel lock key was not in the vehicle, they called and told me they had a tool that could remove the wheel lock. I also had my timing belt, water pump and all related components replaced. All this cost $1558, I was in disbelief. I paid over the phone and picked up after hours so I never saw these people face to face; vehicle was towed up there. Looking at the invoice, "Jack" was listed as the tech that did repairs, I was charged for 5w30 oil and the vehicle takes 5w20, vehicle is an Acura and thus requires Honda fluids; some kind of power steering fluid was used that was only $4.75 a quart so definitely not Honda, spark plugs were $18.95 each, vehicle takes 6, charge for remove and replace spark plugs (labor only) $99.00, and to top all of this off today I looked at my wheel where they removed the wheel lock and they didn't even bother to replace the lug nut ($2-$4) so I have only 4 lug nuts holding on my wheel. I work at a leading used car store and this is totally unacceptable. When paying this much money you expect things like having the correct fluids used to be a non-issue. Needless to say, I won't be returning. They are rip off con artists. read more

I took our minivan to Bells Mill Auto Care because my wife said they would estimate how much it would cost to fix our malfunctioning sliding door on a walk-in basis. I was later informed by phone it would be over $700 to fix the problem they believe the door had. I told them "no thanks." I picked the van up and I was told I owed them $107, which was the first I heard about a charge for an estimate. However, the gentleman behind the counter explained they had to tear the door apart. So, I agreed to pay. Then I asked for a list of parts that they believe needed to be replaced to repair the door. The gentleman told me they don't have it and they cannot give me part numbers because "the parts are a sub-estimate of the estimate" (huh?). I was peeved, but they were not going to give me any kind of list. So, they took my $107 and didn't even give me any valuable information! They completely ripped me off. I wonder if they even tore the door down since they couldn't give me a list. I believe this business is an extension of the beltway bandits a couple of hours south of the beltway. Horrific experience. Not only was I given incorrect information regarding my vehicles' needed repair by Ken who stated he was the mechanic. I was also advised that I had to pay for parts and repair services that were covered under warranty ("because it went bad") from work that they (Bells Mill Auto Care) performed less than a year prior ($347.00). Russ ultimately had the work completed ($18.37 spark plug replacement) that was under warranty at no charge to me but insisted that additional work was needed ($247.00) and basically stated to me that there was "miscommunication" when it came to what his mechanic has stated (regarding the "work" that was needed and the $100.00 difference). I ultimately advised to have no one touch my vehicle. I picked up the vehicle without the "additional work needed" completed with and invoice that states "replaced #6 coil &plug" "still has a bad coil" .Took it to another mechanic to only be advised the battery needed to be replaced as there was no "bad coil" reading on his machine. This truly saddens me as I have been a client for years. Never again. Ladies and gentlemen if it doesn't sound right question it. If it does sound right ask questions anyway so you will have the knowledge for future reference.It will save you money. read more
