At 54 years of age I walked into Dr. Louie's office very aware of my periodontal disease but expecting some light clean up after lockdown and then some cosmetic options. WELL!!! I learned day one that not much could be done to save the natural teeth due to the toll a severe infection and periodontal disease had taken on my gums and bone. Fast forward to today...Day 3 as a full upper and lower denture wearer. THANK the heavens for Dr. Louie and his incredible staff! As a dental professional Dr. Louie ALWAYS took his time to explain EVERY step of each procedure. He consistently ensured that I was NEVER in pain during or after the procedure. When required he referred me to Dr. Maxine Feinburg ( another competent and compassionate professional) to assist in my process toward oral health! He has made me feel not only heard but understood throughout a very difficult life altering process. I can not say enough about his ability to provide frank and realistic diagnosis through a compassionate and understanding spirit! The dentist (not Dr. Pogoda) who filled a cavity made a lewd comment while he was poking around in my mouth. I was unable to respond. The hygienist was right there, didn't say a thing. Maybe it went over her head. Still, I went back for more torture to have my teeth whitened in-house because it was convenient. The hygienist who performed this procedure burned my lips with the formula and the ultra-violet light. She walked away a couple of times and I couldn't speak/ scream. Obviously, she didn't know what she was doing. DON'T GET YOUR TEETH WHITENED HERE. I was furious - and it totally wasn't worth it even if she hadn't burned my lips - not much of a difference. I will probably get skin cancer. The burns were there for days and blistered. I went back to pick up my take-home whitening kit and to let her know about the damage she did, but she wasn't there. I complained to another hygienist about it. Also, the bonding the dentist put on did not hold.

Not knowing anyone who does this kind of work and looking online for prosthodontics in my area did not result in many recommendations. My friend, Valerie Juzwiak, recommended Dr. Beckwith, as she had gone to school with him. I called Cornerstone and spoke with a knowledgeable, compassionate woman, Linda. I explained what was happening and how upset I was about the situation; she quickly arranged for a consult with Dr. Beckwith. After scans and xrays, it was worse than expected; both bridges had failed, left and right sides, and I had a sinus infection. Dr. Beckwith had more of an idea of what he was dealing with and developed an agreeable action plan. I spoke with Linda numerous times about my anxiety and hesitation about having such a procedure and how this was so life-changing. Linda was very understanding, empathic, and caring; she took me thru all the steps I should expect and things I didn't even think of and answered all my questions. Dentistry has changed, it's not what you might remember, and this office is state-of-the-art. On the day of surgery, Linda, Lisa, and Dr. Beckwith ensured that I was comfortable and not experiencing pain. The procedures took over seven hours; it was a lot of work. A very big job by any means .. The Dr. sat with me , and told me straight up what he thought I needed to do , and then I told him what I was looking to do ! We agreed , the only thing I was afraid of was having a plate in my mouth that came in & out during the duration , which would be about a year . This great Dr. made me a plate for the upper teeth , that stayed in permanently until he took it out in the office . Not only did he take the fear away , he saved my dignity .
