My wife went in for the full examine and they dilated her eyes as part for the procedure...all was good. Nothing bad found...then a month later they started pushing her to come in again...for the same procedure, another dilation of her eyes. When we asked why, they keep repeating that there would be no cost to us...so that means they just wanted to hit-up the insurance company for mo-money. They were rude to me and did not answer our questions regarding the need to perform another dilation. I suggest you go elsewhere for your optical needs. read more

Dr. Witmeyer was so friendly and extremely thorough with her examination! She has a lot of knowledge in this field, and answered every question I had with a smile on her face and did not let me leave her office with any concerns. She took the time to let me try out different contacts, and she explained the difference of each of them. All of the office staff that I dealt with were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Making my appointment was super easy, and their hours are awesome. Overall, I would definitely recommend Carlsbad Optometry. read more

I've been going to Carlsbad Optometry for just over a year now, and have been seeing Dr Lucia Millet. The entire staff at Carlsbad Optometry are super nice and friendly, and they have really convenient hours compared to other optometry places that close at 5 every day. I've gotten 1 pair of glasses (Gucci frames, super cute), and now that they have Ray Bands, I just order prescription sunglasses from them. They have a great selection of frames for any face and budget. Dr Millet is excellent for people with picky eyes, and I got about 10 different trial contacts to make sure I got the best pair for my eyes. And when I ran out of contacts before a big international trip, the staff at Carlsbad Optometry were able to rush order me some trial ones to hold me over until I got back. I would definitely recommend Carlsbad Optometry and Dr. Millet to anyone looking for excellent eye care. read more

Highly recommend Carlsbad Optometry! I've had visits with all three doctors and all are very knowledgeable and kind. The staff is friendly and helpful and they make it really easy to schedule/confirm an appt. either via phone, email or text. They typically run on time and the whole office seems to be run very efficiently. Never understaffed and someone always there to answer any questions! I moved from Carlsbad a few months ago, but will still drive up to their office for my appointments. They are the BEST! read more

Visiting the optometrist has never been a great experience for me but the staff and team at Carlsbad Optometry is second to none! The service with a smile presented by the whole team is unmatched at any other doctors office I've been to. Not only will you leave the optometrist with a solution for your vision but with a smile as well! read more

I had a very positive experience at Carlsbad Optometry. Everyone was professional, kind, prompt responsive and sensitive. I was greeted warmly, seen promptly, examined thoroughly, and fitted professionally. Everything was well explained to me, and my concerns were heard and addressed. I wholeheartedly and unconditionally recommend Carlsbad Optometry. Thank you, Dr Millet and your wonderful staff read more

I first started coming to Carlsbad Optometry about a year ago based on many positive Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. I wear RGP lenses, and they are not the easiest contact lenses to fit given the severity of my astigmatism. But Dr. Millet has been more than patient with the fitting and did not give up until I am happy with the fitting. The pair I have right now are the best fitting ones I have had over the last 10 years and I cannot thank Dr. Millet enough for this. She also made sure that I am aware of all the options available as well as the costs associated with each option. And of course, it doesn't hurt that the staff are very friendly and accommodating. read more

I'm happy to give Carlsbad Optometry the highest rating. Every aspect of my appointment was seamless. The front office staff was very attentive to getting the correct specifications of my contact prescription to the optometrist. Dr. Millet took care to explain to me all of her findings in my exam, and I know a lot more about the health of my eyes than previously. Finally, there was no pressure to purchase new frames- (though I did try on a number of very nice frames in stock). One of the opticians even adjusted my current glasses and made other minor repairs on my prescription sunglasses. Thank you, Carlsbad Optometry! read more

Knowledgeable doctor, she listens patiently and explains things understandably. I got a good referral for refractive surgery last month. Everybody in the office is professional and organized and easy to talk to. I have no trouble getting and keeping appointments, I even got one the next day due to a late cancellation. Their location and office hours are convenient. They show a good selection of (high-end) frames and lenses, I bought some prescription eyeglasses last year and have been very happy with them. Don't know about their contacts, I don't wear them. read more

It seems we're in an age of professionals collecting paychecks and turning over patients as quickly as possible with little or no personal touch. Dr. Millet is everything but that. She is thorough, interested, clear, and concise. She exudes a genuine passion for people to see the world more clearly! Go see her. read more

Super thorough and friendly. Their location is convenient too. Great service all around. I have already recommended the office to my wife and a number of coworkers. read more

I had been looking for an optometrist since i moved to San Diego 3 years ago. I decided to trust the yelp reviews and boy am I glad i did. Dr Whitmeyer was awesome. I was taken in no time. She was very thorough and gentle and kind. She never pushed me to get a prescription and told me the drug store glasses were just fine. I would recommend her to anyone who needs a optometrist. Thank you Yelp. Thank you Dr Whitmeyer. You have made a patient for life. Judy M. read more

Nice location, small office, small selection of frames. Waited over 15 minutes past appointment time and had to listen to the front office women talk about their personal lives. Not very professional. The doctor was very nice and gave a thorough exam. Overall I would give it a C rating. Not as impressed as I thought I would be. Wouldn't recommend to a friend. read more

I went alone for my first time, and had my eyes checked and picked out a new pair of frames. I had help on what looked good from the whole office and the doctor was so nice. I had a lot of questions and not once was she annoyed with me for it. I seem to notice a lot of doctors in any field get a little antsy when I actually want to discuss something and Allison listened and answered every question fully for me. I was really blown away by the service on both ends. Also the selection of frames, you may be overwhelmed they have so many! It was great, and I left feeling very happy with my choice. Never really felt that way before in any other office. read more

I've been a customer (my daughter and husband as well) for the last 4 years and love them. They are all so friendly, patient and helpful. Would highly recommend. read more

Superior OD of 10 years for me landed here from previous employment; followed her as client. Everybody in office is intelligent and helpful. Quality care throughout; personal attention and professionalism priced appropriately but well worth it. Parking a little tight; in first visit had to search out entrance in complicated shopping complex. read more

Wow, Dr. Pierce and the staff I encountered at Carlsbad Optometry really lived up to the excellent Yelp reviews! Everyone is super-friendly and as a new patient, I felt very secure in getting my eyes examined/contacts fitted by the very capable and thorough Dr. Pierce. You can tell she is really smart and she takes the time to answer your questions. Thank you to everyone at Carlsbad Optometry! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Witmeyer for many years and my wife and kids see her too. Every visit has been great.

The best experience every with an optometrist! Very knowledgeable, professional and focused on customer service.

Dr Sanchez is thorough and kind and takes the time to explain findings during the exam. She does not rush through and makes recommendations that make sense, doesn't push you to a more expensive solution. read more

I've been coming here for several years. The service is usually good, however I'm not pleased with the way things have been handles during the Covid-19 outbreak. While I understand there were some changes that were difficult to adjust to for everyone, at this point it seems like we should all have it together. I was due for a yearly contact exam in mid March, just a few days before they closed. I didn't know this until a few days ago because no one ever reached out to make an appointment, which is usually how it goes for me & my mom. I'm on my last pair of contacts, and I know that my prescription has changed so I'm avoiding buying a big supply of contacts because of that. about two weeks ago I sent an email to the office to have someone scan or email the prescription to me or even just send a pair, since I was overdue for the checkup and they give you a pair then anyways. It took several days and another attempt of contacting to have someone reach out, only to tell me I'd get a call the next day to discuss this. I didn't understand if someone would be taking the time to reach out, why wouldn't they put in the time to address the issue rather than just saying we'll talk tomorrow. I came to find out that the reason it took so long was because the email went to junk/spam, and if they closed March 19th, one would think that by the end of April they would know to check spam folders because I'm positive this has happened to others. The next day someone called, and said I'd have to wait another day to get a copy of the prescription. At this point it's been a week. The next day, I sat around waiting for her to email me a prescription, which she told me I would receive in the afternoon. However it was past 7 pm by the time I got the email and had to leave another voicemail. I've tried to be understanding about this, but I'm a student who spends more than 20 hours a week on online education and still working two jobs. The fact that I can find 5 minutes of my day to send an email but the multiple people working in this office can't communicate properly is sad for a business. On top of all this, she had mentioned more than once that I could purchase contacts from them, which I politely declined but I kept feeling pressured to do so. I told her I didn't even need a full 6 month supply seeing as I could feel that my eyes have gotten weaker and I need a new prescription. They're really expensive here, and I've been able to order contacts as cheap as $20/box for a three month supply online. She hadn't even offered to do something like mail me a pair to hold me over until they open. I really love Dr. Millet, but the front desk staff here really needs to step it up. I know there's still tons of places open even during this time and as much as I love Dr. Millet, I might go somewhere that would actually address my needs in a timely manner. My mom has since started going to a new optometry practice, and I may do the same. read more

Had to look for a new optometrist & was screening reviews and came across Carlsbad Optometry. Staff was very friendly and doctor went out of her way to thoroughly explain everything, which is highly important to me as I have worked in the healthcare field. Office is very clean and organized. Surprised that they do not have the air puffer machine, thank goodness! Had an eye exam, contact fitting, and glasses fitting. Glasses were pricey, but I explained that paying my way through grad school didn't leave much for glasses in that price range. They seemed to understand and showed me a cheaper option, which I purchased. So far, I am very happy with Carlsbad Optometry. read more

Yelp came through for me again. Dr. Whitmeyer is awesome!!! She gave me all the time I needed and answered all my questions when others couldn't. Excellent experience! Very friendly, nice people, clean business, very agreeable pricing. Dr. Turley is great!

I have to take a moment to compliment Dr. Witmeyer and the girls at the front desk. They love that they are open on Saturdays. The doctor is so caring. She loves working with her patients. Carlsbad Optometry was really outstanding. Dr. Millet was extremely helpful and caring. She explained everything that she did in detail and appeared eager to answer all of my questions. She, along with the front desk staff, and the optician were kind and inviting. I purchased glasses after my office visit, but I never felt pressured to make my purchase there. Additionally, the optician ensured that I received every add-on feature that was covered under my insurance when ordering my glasses. Simple, these guys were great. I was in the area from Maryland, tending to my fathers final arrangements, services, etc.. I had damaged my glasses and they blew up into three pieces. My daughter verified these guys sold the same style frames, "Silhouette" . They said come on by and we will fix you up. They repaired my glasses at NO FEE and in a quick timely manner for a walk-in. Super nice people, excellent location based on close by amenities. If they treated an out-of-towner, non customer this well, imagine what you get as a customer. Thank you CARLSBAD OPTOMETRY for helping me out, easing my stress and not trying to make a quick buck on me in the circumstances. GOOD JOB! read more
