Everybody raves about their sandwiches, chicken parmigiana in particular, which are delicious, skillfully made, and beautiful to look at...not to mention IMMENSE, but I prefer their chicken, veal, and shrimp entrees, which are prepared on the spot, including the pasta, and are wonderful. Both the Francaise and Pizzaiolla dishes would hold their own against any I've ever had at any price, but my favorite is the Marsala. It's made with REAL MARSALA WINE (from a liquor store) and FRESH MUSHROOMS, the broth is rich, the chicken is excellently prepared, and the onions are a great finishing touch; it looks totally appetizing and tastes even better...far better than the (what appears to be) canned mushrooms in brown gravy you get in so many places. My other favorites (which aren't necessarily available every day), all home-made and well worth trying, are chef's salad, potato croquettes, stuffed mushrooms, prosciutto balls, and pepperoni pinwheels, and also totally deserving of mention are their french fries, which rival those of Nathan's's better days. And Domenic and Cathy are friendly and accommodating beyond words! I love Carlos and I have to say tonight I'm glad I didn't want to cook. We ordered from Carlo's veal pizziola with spaghetti and my husband got a chicken cutlet sandwich with fresh mozz, portobello mushrooms, roasted peppers with a balsamic glaze. My pizziola was better then anything in any restaurant. I literally cut the veal with a fork! The sauce was just garlicky enough and was just so good I could have eaten that alone with the bread... which I did after. I saved some for lunch tomorrow. I almost couldn't stop! Sometimes I'll order their fried potatoes no pasta, also a fabulous choice. Chunky pieces of potato, crisp, soft and creamy at the same time. You would never guess that this grocery store makes awesome sandwiches from the exterior storefront or even when you walk in, but man are they good! So far my husband and I have tried the chicken parm and the hot roast beef. Both were delicious but the chicken parm is definitely the star. It has only a few ingredients but packs a huge punch of flavor! We can't wait to try the rest of the menu. I recommend getting the large (whole loaf) as it is only a few dollars more than the half. On average $8 for half sandwiches and $11 for whole. The whole loaf is the size of a standard Italian bread (about 12-14? inches).
