Horrible staff! I came in for my allergy shot appointment in the morning at the Aiea location and I…read morethought they checked me in. However, all these other patients came and went, but I was never called. About 1.5 hrs later, I still wasn't called. This should've been a quick shot and then I would be out the door in a few mins. Then again, this wasn't the first time this has happened. The last time this happened, I had asked the staff how much longer I had to wait after waiting for an hour, but found out they had forgotten about me and proceeded to get me with my doctor asap, only to be lectured to be understanding since Saturdays are busy and to not book on Saturdays. So, I tried to hold on a bit longer this time, but after almost 2 hrs I was reaching my breaking point. Finally, the person who supposedly checked me in noticed me and asked if I was still waiting. I was super shocked at this point. When I told them how long I was waiting for, their faces said it all. They had once again forgotten about me. Then proceeded to get me with the doctor for my shot. I also understand the doctor can be very curt but I was already feeling put off by their staff earlier and it didn't help with my mood. I didn't get any sincere apology at all from them either; Just a quick "oh sorry" sort of apology. Not even after I was done with my allergy shot. Ultimately, I decided I was done. I didn't want to get brushed off by them anymore on top of getting shots that aren't improving my allergies at all. I can't say who the staff member was, because I want to be careful not to make this about race or identity. Sooooo, if you folks are still going here, make sure you check they actually checked you in. They should also be "understanding" about your time too. Otherwise, what's the point of appointments.

Dr. Kuo was super informative and has a great sense of humor. The staff was friendly and getting…read moreallergy shots was quick and easy. I would recommend going there.

Here's why: Wasted lots of money on co-payments and out of pocket expenses that didn't resolve or get to the root of the concerns, issues, and/or problems. Only benefitted me for tax write offs. Forced me to take flu shot when I disclosed to doctor in advance that my body is allergic to egg derivative found in flu immunization. His response, "Just like the military. You need to take your shots." I didn't respond. Here's my thought, "How rude!" When I took my flu shot within two weeks after this doctor's visit, I got ill and was on primary doctor's orders to stay out of work for five days. Thank goodness my supervisor at that time was very understanding of my health and situation. He's a big believer in having me use nasal rinse for allergic rhinitis and inhalers daily for asthma. Some mornings I experienced headaches from using nasal rinse. Doc said to lose 20 lbs due to my asthma and exercise 3-4 times a week for one hour each time. Sure I can do that. I managed to shed pounds. When I was scheduled to return for another follow-up three months later, I had to call and cancel my appointment. A worker answered the phone. I stated, "Hi! This is Ruby, gave my last name. I'm calling to cancel my appointment on this date and time due to having pneumonia." (in a very hoarse, raspy voice.) My pneumonia went away after two weeks, still had a hoarse, raspy voice, and my intuition told me it's time for me to say goodbye and see another specialist. Fast forward to a couple years later, I have no need to return as I've lost 20+ pounds, no longer have asthma, see doctors that are able to address the root of concerns, issues, and/or problems. Thank you. No thank you.

It seems…read moreas if they have none and all they want to do is charge me upwards of $500 out of pocket to process paperwork when I've been already charged for processing paperwork. Been working with them since October, and they refuse to process anymore paperwork unless they charge me $100 per 5 sheets of paper I give them. Not only that, they want to charge me over $100 because I called them multiple times to ask what paperwork I needed to submit for the FAA First class Medical Exam. I haven't gotten anywhere because of this doctors office except couple hundred dollars out of pocket to deal with their crap. HEADS UP, IF YOURE GONNA DO A FAA EXAM, go somewhere else.

Things were bad. I am so, so lucky that Dr. Schmidt was able to see me fast and within two weeks i had my first cataract surgery on my right eye. He was very honest during my consultation and pre-op appointments. He told me all the possible complications and hazards due to the severeness of how bad my cataract(s) were. But he was also very positive and very energetic. Although i was kinda scared and worried, he and his staff were all very positive and supportive during the whole process. To make a long story short--i went from barely being able to see a waving hand in front of me--to pretty much having my full vision back within a few days after surgeries on both eyes. I highly recommend Dr. Schmidt and his staff--they are the best and i truly appreciate their expertise in taking care of me.

OK, I'm used to the V.A., where most there hate their jobs, you wait many MONTHS to be seen, and…read moreget pretty poor treatment from pretty poor docs, with the exception of eyes and dental. I was MISdiagnosed there 2 YEARS when I had lymphoma UNDER shrapnel from an Iraq War wound. I was told, "You are getting OLD, and it's an old war wound..." DISSED for 2 YEARS??%$#@! finally, I went outside w/Medicare, got a proper diagnosis, (CANCER in that bone under the 'old war wound'), and referred for treatment-- finally the V.A. got involved because I threatened to go to the press if they didn't take over. The docs at St. Francis radiation center were GREAT. But nothing worked as it's a rare cancer and it didn't respond to radiation, and kept coming back. Finally, with MY research (I'm a retired surgeon) I found a treatment that may work for me and they referred me on after my oncologist AGREED. MAHALO PRES. TRUMP for 'Care in The Community', as we can now go to outside docs if we live far away--and they took me seriously, I got treatment the V.A. doesn't have anyway--and they listened to me, treating me with respect as a fellow doc. PALI MOMI WAS THE LATEST DOC TO SEE FOR BONE SURGERY--a big surgery, a VERY long 18 month recovery=MAJOR. I saw Dr. Aratani, who is highly specialized in ortho and oncology--one of only 2 on island. The only other is my friend @ Tripler but he was deployed so unavailable and he got me in to see Dr. Aratani. She was enthusiastic about my research, said YES--and referred me on to Queens for one treatment before she operates...but PALI MOMI WAS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. I was pretty lost there as I never go to Aiea, living in Kahalu'u, and it's grown so much all my old landmarks are GONE--but after finally finding it, employees directed me every step of the way as to where to go, what building/floor/etc. OMG! That NEVER happens @ the V.A. I was totally--no lie--slack jawed by the time I got to her office! EVERYONE was so FRIENDLY--and not put on--I mean genuinely friendly, helpful...as my leg HURTS and walking HURTS...so so many folks there offered to help..I am BLOWN AWAY. It is BY FAR, the BEST medical facility I have EVER been in--and after getting wounded, I've had 15 surgeries, multiple scars/shrapnel/debility...etc. I just am very impressed=PERIOD. Much aloha to all you guys!!! Your assist and help was SO appreciated! I've been really down about all this, the time I lost getting treated and where it's at now--needing major surgery, possibly crippled for life...yadayada. But you guys there really cheered me up. MAHALO!!! Sorry so long, but I just feel VERY strongly here!

***4.5 STARS***…read more Recently a colleague reached out to me as his designated driver was unable to pick him up due to an unforeseen situation. He texted me needing a lift from Pali Momi Medical Center (PMMC) to his home just off Kinau Street. PMMC opened its doors in July 1989 and has been servicing Central and West Oahu. It was originally opened as Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi until rebranded as PMMC in 2010. They are conveniently located in Aiea just down the road from Pearlridge Shopping Center. It was my first time here and was impressed with the upkeep of the grounds. Because my friend just had a procedure to the day prior, a hospital staff wheeled him via wheelchair to the pickup/drop off area. I was amazed by the hospital's attention to patient's condition, consideration and service extended. Although the pickup was a fairly quick process, the setback I encountered was leaving. There were 2 parked cars in front of me and it didn't seem the cars would be leaving soon. Furthermore, the right hand lane was too narrow where I couldn't pass them. My only option was to back up and exit via the far left lane. Thank goodness there was no car behind me otherwise I would have been in a standstill. Overall, impressed with my first visit to PMMC, with the exception of their pickup and drop off area. 2026 #60
