Although I've lived in the area for over a decade, I'm not hand-tied to either soft serve joint in the area. However if I had to choose between the two, hands down I'm heading to Carl D's. I don't understand what Belt's is about other than it has history with the community. I follow Carl D's on Facebook. Some weeks they have specials that are beyond great. Like their turtle sundae for $2. Good for the wallet and the tummy. The location is great take walks and play Pokemon Go or hanging out in the back of the pick-up truck in the parking lot. Even if there's a line, it's pretty quick. They have a lot of flavors and combos to choose from. I've purchased brownies, popcorn, and even a cup of chili here so don't be fooled that it's just a soft serve place. Every now and then, Carl D's does a fundraiser for a good local cause like giving back to the Humane Society. A business that is invested in the community is one that I like to support. read more

This was my first time trying Carl D's and I was impressed! I'm a Belt's guy, but I was willing to give Carl D's a try. The service was excellent! The gentleman working there was very nice and patient as I looked over the menu and he said just ring the bell when I was ready. I tried the large Cherry Pie Flurrie and it was good! Be on the lookout for their specials and lots of stuff on the menu sounded good. I will try them again. read more

Always a good spot for a sweet treat. Their flurry options are creative and fun. We love getting anything that has Cinnamon Toast Crunch in it. They also have a tasty dole whip. read more

It's a higher-quality Belt's, with creamier (lactose free!) ice cream and tastier mix ins. They also have Dole Whip! Oddly they also have a ton of flavored popcorn varieties, if you're not an ice cream person. If it matters they also have a clean bathroom! read more

Awful to potential employees. My son recently applied at Carl D's. Carl, the owner, was very rude to him, had a dog running around the inside of the ice cream parlor during the interview and sent him a rude text the next day. No wonder Carl D's is having issues finding and keeping employees. Treat people that way, you will run your business in the ground. My suggestion, get a better attitude; your employees will be happier, you will be happier and your customers will be happier. read more

Wanted some dessert while in Point. Found this place on google maps and decided to stop. It's on a corner and has a small parking lot. Alot of ice cream combination to choose from. The hubby got a banana split and I did a number 6 (hot fudge, mini marshmallows, and crush grams). If we lived closed by we would definitely try out the other combinations. Love Carl D's, they have tons of flurry/blizzards to choose from and they are always changing it up. They have a bunch of flavored popcorns that you can also get. The nice thing with Carl D's is they accept cards, Belts does not. Highly recommend Carl D's! read more

Wanted to try a Belts alternative... Insta regret. Got a medium Vanilla flurry with cookie dough and Reese's... The cookie dough tasted like a back-to-school eraser and had the resemblance of earwax. Employee's at D's were helpful and legit, they just happen to be peddlin a subpar product. The potential Type 2 diabetes may be worth it from belts, but it's certainly not worth sacrificing a supratherapeutic glucose spike from Carl D's (nuts)... Unfortunately all I can think is that they lured me in, took my cash, and said "Got heeeem." read more

My boyfriend and I had been curious to try Carl D's soft serve since they had opened, and finally got the chance tonight. I got a twist soft serve with sprinkles in a waffle cone, and he an Oreo flurry. The ice cream was delicious! The vanilla was notably more "vanilla-y" than most. A little bit pricier than the competitor, but not by much. The servings were generous, and they also offer more than ice cream such as flavored popcorn and iced coffee. Our one complaint was that they only accept cash, so we had to run to an atm. We will definitely be back! read more

I went here for the first time last week, and I ordered the "Patriot" flurry, which is puppy chow and peanut butter. I thought that the ice cream was a lot more creamier than Belt's. I did like it and it was a great price, I also like that they accept credit cards here. However, I thought that the peanut butter in the flurry would be blended in with the ice cream, but the peanut butter was just a dollop on top of the ice cream and puppy chow. read more

Very slow, there was 7 customers ahead of us and it took 17 minutes to get to the counter to order, then it took them 5 minutes to make my order. Even after all that time waiting they gave me the wrong order. It wasn't even that good. The people working were nice though. And people are saying that the popcorn is very good. The service was terrible. There were exactly 4 people at this establishment on a Sunday afternoon, and we were two of them. My husband ordered a butterfinger flurry, and when it came out, it was given to the other two customers. (How they didn't know what they ordered, I'm not sure.) We figured they had gotten a butterfinger flurry as well, so we waited. Then a brownie flurry came out, and when the man (presumably the owner) realized there had been a mixup, he became angry and rude, and refused to make another, so my husband got stuck eating something he did not order. I love Carl D's! Belts' is the old-timer in the neighborhood, but I like the seating choices better at Carl D's. The soft-serve is also creamier. The place is somehow cozier-looking, too. Carl also contributes to local charities, and he knows his customers personally. read more

I was super excited to hear about them opening up from their publicity at the fourth of July parade. However the delicious popcorn that they premiered is not their primary food of choice. They boldly opened another soft serve so close to the most infamous soft serve in the Stevens point area. I really enjoyed their popcornflavors but feel that they should have taken the route in focusing on the popcorn and some specialty candies or fudges instead of another soft serve in this ice cream dream. The price and quantity of the popcorn was disappointing even more for only making 1 batch a day. I hope that they realizethe best tactic to stay in business is to abandon the soft serve and jump on to their delicious popcorn flavors and expand the variety! read more

FAST AND DELICIOUS, AND AFFORDABLE! That's what I love about this place. There's another ice cream stand within a block that definitely get's the lion's share of customers but those folks have to wait, wait, wait for a very long time just to get a cone or whatever else they order. Carl D's though takes the order at one window and gives it to you very quickly at a side window. Another thing I really like about this place is the long and creative list of names for various flurry combinations. And another thing I like is seeing how charitable Carl D's is for the community; they're often holding fundraising events for good causes. read more

Our family loves ice cream and we love Carl D's. great selection and friendly staff. We tried the German Chocolate flurry which was awesome. We also tried the chilly which you can customize to your taste. Definitely worth more than a few tries!! read more
