OFFICE Needed a new dental place and this one was next to a vet I visit. It initially seemed pretty decent... front impression was professional and efficient. EQUIPMENT Modern and supposedly equipped with cutting edge services... like 3D printers and a panoramic scan x-ray to detect fractures like an endontist... but didnt experience any of these firsthand. EXPERIENCE Hygienist seem good but the dentist seems very into upselling non-insurance services and it was an meh experience overall... I got referred out for perio services and then called back for a cleaning... then told about not being in network for insurance next year... not sure if thats accurate but there are plenty of dentists with great ratings that take Cigna so... my journey continues along with a digital copy of my files and xrays. P.S. ZocDoc has a lot more research info and practioners than Google and Yelp where you can filter for in-network providers. read more

Let's start by saying I was born into a family with bad teeth, I went from dentist to dentist with bad luck and feeling like everyone was just out to get my money and everytime I would end up switching, until I met caring smiles dental! I love this place! From the front desk staff to the back everyone is soo nice and caring and helpful! My check in is easy and quick they are knowledgeable about my insurance and my bills. My hygienist Dee is so good at what she does! Even got me in for cleaning every 6months to keep me from getting cavities! Dr Patel is amazing! He worked with me to be able to afford the work I needed on my teeth and also to be able to hit my goal of getting braces!! I never throught I'd hit this point!! *UPDATE! I got my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Patel today, and although I was dreading it, it was overall a really great experience (as good as extracting teeth can be, hah). My biggest fear wasn't necessarily the procedure itself, but the numbing beforehand (I have a phobia of not feeling pain, weird, I know). Dr. Patel was incredibly understanding and talked to me through the entire numbing process and procedure itself. He explained where he was numbing and why, and what areas it might affect. It was very calming. The procedure was so fast, and I felt nothing during it. I'm 32 now, and I've waited so long to have my wisdom teeth removed out of fear. I'm glad I just did it already. *ORIGINAL REVIEW (Which I don't want to change!) I've been coming to this office for almost 10 years now. Prior to that I dreaded going to the dentist but Caring Smiles is wonderful. The staff and doctor are super personable and really do invest in each patient as an individual. Originally I made an appointment with Dr. Patel because my previous dentist moved out of state and Dr. Patel's location is very convenient for me. Then I checked Yelp to see what kinds of reviews he has already received and then I found out my friend/neighbor is also already seeing him! So I decided it was time to check it out for myself. The front office staff are very pleasant, helpful, professional and kind. Also great at explaining insurance coverage! I was slightly sore after my cleaning. The dental hygienist was very kind and also professional, she gave me a great tip for the soreness I experienced: try gargling with sea salt and it works very, very well. So the dental assistant I had again, was very professional, kind, very well mannered - although it seemed as though she wasn't extremely comfortable using the cleaning tools as they were very clumsy in her hand and the tools often hit my teeth, when the paste went on, the paste went flying everywhere, on my bib, my face, my hair. It seemed like either it was the wrong tool or she may have been a little new at it. When I finally met Dr. Patel, he gave me incredibly detailed informing on my teeth and showed me in the screen very clearly so that I would understand. He is extremely patient and very very kind with a very soft touch so no worries about pain whatsoever! He is extremely knowledgable with state-of-the-art equipment but he's not happy until you are completely comfortable and understanding any issues! He has even more wonderful technical, beautiful equipment in the back. Very clean, very kind, very knowledgeable, and pay very close attention to all patients! That said, I'm concerned that he wanted to perform work on one tooth that was unnecessary. He said an old filling fell out and needed to be re-filled. I had no pain in that tooth whatsoever. After considering all that he had to say, I became very uncomfortable because he talked so much and increasingly trying to show the capabilities of his staff and technology almost to the point that it felt like he was trying to convince himself and me. He seemed to try too hard. Additionally, Dr. Patel, outsourced the anaesthesiologist and then we had to schedule time that not only worked for the outsourced staff but for Dr. Patel and myself. I decided that this wasn't a good fit for me. When a dentist feels a need to constantly talk about his accomplishments and abilities, even long after I scheduled a follow up appointment; it felt again, as if he was trying too hard. I did not return. Now, more than a year after I decided against utilising his skill set, I still have not had a need to "repair" the tooth he so adamantly wanted to fix. Dr. Patel and his staff are all very kind and helpful, If not a bit overbearing with even a whiff of desperation. Hopefully your experience will surpass. Best of luck to you. read more

I had several x-rays done by this dr. He called shadows cavities and claimed I had 28 teeth to flll. I took these x-rays elsewhere after he got away with drilling and filling a bunch of teeth and charging for a teeth-cleaning. My new dentist looked at the x-rays and was like these are shadows, and you have no decay in these areas. I was livid. The teeth that were filled have caused me so much pain since and he even made a prediction I could have a root canal. I am like "sure I am going to have one, not here:!. My new dentist was able to head off the root canal in that tooth that was drilled so deeply. Thank G-d! Just because the office is awesome, and he is a great salesmen, beware! He will sell you services you do not need and he doesn't promote teeth healing. If his assistant hadn't mentioned my upper teeth looked great behind Dr. Patels back, I would have had all of them unnecessarily filled too. He wanted to sedate me to fill the uppers and when I asked my new dentist about the gazillion cavities, she said there wasn't anything but staining and shadows. I would have had a plastic mouth of pain. I appreciate his assistants honesty and he seemed to have my back. When I backed out of the 28 cavities, he filled 7 and then charged me over $2100 of my insurance and also forced us to take out a care credit card to put another $300 on it. I mean this is absolute robbery. They kept changing the prices on me while I was there! I still have no idea how much a filling is and why I was charged $500 for a teethcleaning! He also gave me double sedation which sent my heart rate into a dither and I had a panic attack in the chair. It was way over-dosage! He also tested out his new equipment on relatives and the work is awful! read more

One morning I had woken up and the back of my teeth were very sore and sensitive to cold water air and everything. Dr. Patel and his entire staff are really great. I had not been to a dentist for almost 25 years due to extreme fear and anxiety. I was able to speak to Dr. Patel before I even had made an appointment! To me that showed that he really cared for me as a person not just a client. I wanted him to know what my fears were and I wanted to know how I was going to be treated at his office. I have had 3 appointments totaling over 5 hours and I have to say I am very pleased with my care and the work that has been done . I have more appointments coming up and I will not be afraid. My fear level is way down, the first visit I was at a fear level 10+. Dr. Patel is very gentle and explains everything that will be done, the office is comfortable and everything is state of the art! I needed 2 crowns and they were able to make them for me during my appointment, no need for temporary crowns!! I can not say enough good things about his staff, they are the best. Dr. Patel is Great. I originally found Caring Smiles Dental while working in Barrington. It was easy to get an appointment that day for a toothache. I now live and work a little over an hour away and still choose to use Caring Smiles Dental as my primary Dentist. Dr Patel and his staff are nice and gentle and he uses the newest technology. He will fully go over all your treatment options and then a member of his staff comes in with an iPad to show you the cost of each treatment with your insurance to make sure there are no surprises. I absolutely love his machine that makes your permanent crown right in the office so it lets you get everything done in one visit!! Dr Patel is an amazing dentist! I made an appt bc I haven't been to a dentist in over a year. Dr. Patel found a cavity my old dentist missed and did a deep cleaning. The visit was completely painless and easy. Dr. Patel is very knowledgable and explains everything as he goes along. They have a tv in the exam room so you could see your X-rays on the screen right after they take them. I haven't had as pleasant as a dentist visit as this since ever.
