The ambiance felt like a warm family owned restaurant. The food tasted like it too! Very tasty! I ordered the BLTA wrapped in lettuce cause bread doesn't like me and it was very tasty. We were in town while doing some fossil digging and decided to check out local restaurants while we were here. I had the burger dip, which was exactly as described. I saw someone else's photo and was intrigued. Burger was cooked well and the combination worked to be dipped in au jus. My friends had a build your own chicken sandwich and the country fried steak. No complaints on the chicken sandwich and the white gravy for the country fried steak was flavorful and we'll seasoned. We came in the early evening for dinner and it wasn't too crowded. There were maybe 3 other tables by the time we placed our order. The problem here is a bit with the service. They were on point with drink refills. But like the other reviewers complained, it does take a while to get your food. We did see other tables show up and order after us and they got their food first. We suspect they favor getting orders out for the regulars/locals to keep them happy over people just passing through. We had no where else to go, so we stuck it out for a descent meal. Atmosphere was as expected for this tiny restaurant in the west. The reviews set our expectations too high tho. The biggest problem is that service... I think if you come at a time that isn't busy you won't be unhappy. How we had 6 other groups eating at the same time as us. It took 20 minutes to order and another 40 for our food. Our food arrived cold and was clearly under the heat lamp for at least 20 minutes.... in one hour we got one drink refill when the food arrived. They gave our appetizer to the wrong table. The food itself was ok for being cold, hard to give it a fair review tho because it was likely better hot. We ordered the burger melt and the triple club. The beef was well done, the club looked perfect. The fry sauce was watered down and the fried avocado was forgettable and I wouldn't order it ever again. read more

This place is a pleasant surprise. From the outside, it doesn't grab your attention. But it's modest exterior shouldn't put you off. The food is terrific and the prices are exceptionally reasonable. My wife had the chefs salad and I ate a taco salad. Portions were more than adequate and all the ingredients were super fresh and delicious. In addition, the service was quick and the folks who took our food order were very nice. Of course our experience was limited. We can't comment on their breakfast, lunch or dinner specials, but if our dinner salads reflect the care that is taken in the kitchen then you certainly won't be disappointed. read more

Cute place. Hot turkey sandwich was good. Fry's were soggy and the pastrami was too tough, had to cut it to eat it.

We arrived here and we could see that they were busy. They seated us and took our order. But an hour later we were still waiting. Meanwhile, another couple came in later and they were served in a reasonable time. They almost finished their meal while we continued waiting. My wife is diabetic and she needed to eat. We gave up and left, exasperated. We were ignored. We're good guests to have in anyone's establishment. We tip well and we do a good job of representing people from out of town. But this is unacceptable. Is this how they normally treat people who are passing through? Next time I won't bother stopping in this town. We left disgusted. read more

I was staying near Kemmerer, Wyoming for work. I wasn't really sure what kind of food options Kemmerer would have. When I checked into my hotel the first recommendation from the person working the desk was 'Pizza Hut' and I instantly vowed I would find a local independent restaurant. I drove all over Kemmerer and Caribou caught my eye for looking 'friendly'. Sure enough, it was. The owner/server/hostess seemed to be 'in charge' of the place - running the show, greeting customers in a friendly way when they came in. And - she turned out to be part owner. She recommended the Prime Rib French Dip and it was SUPER good. They also have home made pie and I can confirm the Pecan is great. If you're visiting Fossil Butte or the surrounding area I highly recommend seeking out Caribou Cafe. read more

After baking in the sun for the Oyster Ridge Music Festival (a must if you find yourself in Kemmerer Wyoming in July), heading into the Caribou Cafe for some water, air conditioning, and a delicious meal was a no-brainer. The wait staff was quick and helpful, the food was good, and we left refreshed and ready to hit the park again for some amazing music. Great diner just off of US 30West. Soup of the day (Cream of Mishroom) was creamy and stuffed full of mushrooms. Marinated Chicken breast was speciall of the day. Chicken is thin, but very tasty. Bacon was extra good. BLTA was also very good. Again, loved the bacon. Topped lunch off with Strawberry-Rhubarb pie. It was served hot with vanilla ice cream. This place was absolutely excellent! I came down here with my family when we headed from Yellowstone to go to Utah. We we're extremely surprised about the food given that the place is a small hole in the wall it seems. The service was excellent, Antonio treated us right! My dad said he had the best carne asada that he ever had, and my dad's from south Texas! I had the special which was a chicken fried steak it was utterly amazing. Mom had chicken strips they were huge! Brother had a buyer and fries! Their sauces were great! We would definitely go back, if we ever travel out that way again. Then we ordered an appetizer and our food all at once. It took 30 minutes to get our appetizer. The mozzarella sticks were still cold, almost frozen. Good home cooking. My friend and I stopped here for dinner during a long drive from Teton National Park to Salt Lake City. It seems to be mostly a breakfast place, as the menu is about 75% breakfast items. I had the fried chicken special, which was very good. The chicken was hot and very crispy, the sauteed veggies were nicely spiced, and the heavy on the mashed potatoes was not salty (a nice surprise) and had a rich flavour.
