this is to the people that said this place was bad because it isn't

this was an out of body experience. i felt my soul get lifted out of my body and blessed by the heavens above. i've been away from home for a while and this is just what i needed to succeed in life. today marks the day ive found myself. the food tastes like the tears of a god and does not deserve the hate. though there was only 2 waiters they had amazing service and were so kind. the restaurant itself was very clean and very real and authentic and homey. i will never be the same. anyone that left a bad review on this restaurant doesn't know what real mexican food is and should be ashamed that they said it was bad and can count their days. you have been warned. i love it here.

Chips, salsa and Carne asada

I travel qite a bit to all sorts of towns for work and I always try out the Mexican food when it's available. This was a great experience! Good chips and salsa, great carne asada, and they took such good care of me. I will definitely be back when I come to town again!

Tacos but too mushy covered by wet lettuce

Ahhh it was disappointing hoping for some good Mexican. The serving size is really big but everything taste the same between different plates. Not really worth the calories ha ha but the chips and hot sauce was good. The waiter was friendly and the beer was cold.

Great food and service. Very clean. Thanks for the great lunch. It was amazing. We would definitely stop here again.

Worth the wait :)

However, this place was great surprise. Service was very nice and friendly. My Birria quesadilla was the best quesadilla I ever had. Now, I hardly ever order quesadillas but I love birria so I decided to give it a shot. The consume was very tasty and the meat within the quesadilla was flavorful, juicy and tender. Some aspects of my visit were great however, for a small place like Evanston, WY, I will give it a slight pass. The sweet tea and water situation was horrible. I know somewhere like Wyoming may not have the greatest sweet tea, I know I was far removed from the South. However, I believe it was a combo of the water, tea/water ratio and whatever was used as a sweetener. The salsa was very fresh but some of the chunks of veggies were a little too big for salsa in my opinion.

(review from two separate times)…read more The second time of us driving up from Ogden, Utah for something to eat here. The service does kinda take a while for them to noice you're waiting at the door. Which is understandable when low staff working. No biggie. Otherwise, the food is pretty decent and I would definitely recommend stopping here if you're coming to Evanston for some vape juice or fireworks haha. Once you're sat down, you're welcomed with chips, flavorful chunky salsa and a bean dip. We ordered the Carne adobada (marinated asada) both times Two pics are from this time and two are from last time for reference. The meat is flavorful and tender. Moist fluffy rice. The beans... are well, beans lol... We also ordered the guacamole for an appetizer, unfortunately was very disappointed in that. Not in the guac itself, it tasted great. But the price $10 freaking dollars is absurd, for what half an avocado? (What you see in the picture is what we got. It was shaped in a ball like small ice cream scoop before I smashed it around but it was an extremely small amount) like I get inflation,.... but that much for so little. Also the knives are dull a fk. Lol I will come here over and over again but won't be getting the guac appetizer again. Our waitress Brittany is so kind and sweet and top of the refills (we all know I'm a Karen about my refills ) she did great both times. Thanks.

Well...if you're not my husband, that is...he's still complaining about his rinky dinky tostada for $8 and the non-Mexican mozzarella cheese on top. But since I'm running this Yelp account and not him, I say it was pretty great for a semi-fast food restaurant. The fish tacos tasted fresh. I enjoyed the accompanying sauce. Beans and rice taste better than they looked on the menu. Salsa wasn't bad either. Not much of a kick, but still satisfying. My photo is of half my meal since you couldn't stop me from devouring the first taco even if it was on fire. Road trips make me hungry! What can I say! The Yelp photos show a wall menu - that's no longer the case. It's now booth & menu seating, however, I was pleasantly surprised the food came out in a jiffy so we could get back on the road to finish our 1600 miles. For the sake of peace, I split the ratings difference and gave Paff's 3.5 stars.

We got chips and salsa, a side of queso, an order of 2 street tacos and an order of flautas. Overall the food was average. While the salsa was fresh and flavorful, the queso dip was obviously out of a can, bright orange and tasteless. The street tacos were shredded beef and carnitas; both were served with double-corn tortillas, fresh chopped onion and fresh cilantro, but the meat fillings were bland, and the carnitas were not as crispy as I like. My co-worker had the flautas (rolled and deep-fried tortillas stuffed with meat and cheese) - she said they were ok but a little greasy. I probably would not eat here again, but will say that the menu is large and it could be we just ordered 'wrong'. Our server was very nice, the interior was clean, and I did enjoy the murals painted on the walls too. This place is located in a strip mall just off the highway in Evanston. Very convenient location with plenty of parking.

What a wonderful hidden gem! It doesn't look like much or even very big from the outside. Don't let that fool you. It was great food, great service, huge portions, and we were in and out quick. They turned over tables fast and more people kept coming in to eat. We were surprised how busy it was on a Monday night! The whole place was full - every table! I had a chicken fajita burrito with a strawberry marg and my husband had the chili verde. Fresh ingredients, homemade food and sauces. My family and I drove 2.5 hours to visit this restaurant yesterday, and unfortunately our…read moreexperience was so disappointing that we left without ever ordering. To give some context, I had been struggling with depression and having a particularly difficult day. My husband thought getting me out of the house, taking a scenic drive to Bear Lake, and treating me to one of my favorite comfort foods, cheese dip from this restaurant, might help lift my spirits. The drive was beautiful despite the rainy weather, and for the first time all day I actually started feeling a little better. That feeling disappeared the moment we walked into the restaurant. The restaurant was not busy, yet my family stood at the host stand for quite a while without being acknowledged. Employees were nearby, but no one greeted us or even let us know someone would be with us shortly. While we were waiting, a server spoke with a gentleman behind the host stand. Immediately afterward, a group seated near the entrance was moved to a different table. We were then seated at the exact table they had just vacated. The silverware was still disheveled from the previous guests, and it became obvious why they had asked to move. Every time the front door opened, cold air blew directly onto the table. Seeing that there were at least eight or nine open tables throughout the restaurant, I politely asked our server if we could also move. Her response was that her boss said we could not. Thinking there must be some misunderstanding, I looked around at all the empty tables and asked if there really was not another table available. She explained it would be outside of her section. As someone who has worked as a server myself, I understand section assignments. However, this restaurant is very small, and the alternative tables were only a short distance away. It was not a matter of a long walk across a large dining room. The part that really bothered me was the attitude. The request was met with annoyance rather than understanding. After refusing, the server abruptly responded, "No, so what do you want to drink?" At that point, we decided to leave. We calmly gathered our three children and walked out. No one apologized, no one asked if there was a way to make things right, and no one seemed to care that a family was leaving. What makes this especially disappointing is why we came in the first place. We had driven 2.5 hours specifically to visit this restaurant because my husband was trying to help pull me out of a difficult slump. We were not looking for anything special, just a warm meal, a comfortable table, and a pleasant experience. Instead, we were treated like a nuisance for making a simple request in a nearly empty restaurant. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the combination of poor hospitality, dismissive service, and a complete lack of concern for the customer experience left a lasting impression, and unfortunately not a good one.

The name leads you to believe it was a Mexican restaurant, but they actually had Italian, American, and Mexican offerings on the menu. I had looked at the online menu before arriving and found that the prices were about $4.00 higher online than on the menu inside the restaurant. The hostess was friendly and welcomed us with a smile. She seated us quickly and there were not too busy. The waitress was efficient with taking our order, but the food seemed a little slow to come out based on the number of customers. I ordered the Avocado Eggs Benedict. It was very tasty and the avocado complemented the traditional eggs benedict well. It came with hashbrowns that were cooked like I like them, not too crispy but not mushy or soggy either. The waitress came by regularly and kept our drinks full. I took an order of buffalo chicken wings to-go. When we opened them to eat later, the lettuce they put in the to-go box was all wilted. The carrots and celery were pretty tiny and didn't add much to the dish. The blue cheese dipping sauce was a good flavor and offset the buffalo sauce well. The chicken wings were smaller and not anything special. I would recommend the breakfast here, but suggest skipping the chicken wings.

It's located in a plaza and doesn't have the best outdoor appearance as some of the other places we've been to. Upon entering, it's a small place with a Mexican grocery store attached, which I'm assuming means that it's family owned. They had soft music playing, the decor wasn't that fantastic. We were greeted with cold chips and cold homemade salsa, which was in a container that we had to pour. The salsa was nice and cold with a good spicy kick to it. We're vegetarians so we asked the older lady there if they used animal fat in their beans, in which she replied that they did. She couldn't speak English that well, so we decided to ask another woman there, which I assume to be the daughter of the older woman. She then again said that they do, I asked her if she could make the refried beans without animal fat and she went back in the kitchen and sent her sister out, whom could speak proper English. I asked her and she clearly denied that they don't use animal fat and that the other two had difficulty speaking and understanding English. We went ahead and ordered a piña colada, which was probably the most amazing thing I've ever had in such a long time! It had the perfect blend of sweet coconut and pineapple juice. My favorite part was the three maraschino cherries on top, their juices combined with the piña colada was phenomenal. We ordered three cheese enchiladas which came with a side of rice, beans, and lettuce and tomato. When we got our order, it was covered in cheese. I love cheese, but this was too much. It looked like a blend of cheddar and mozzarella, I personally don't like too much cheddar in my Mexican food, I prefer monterrey. I took my first bite and I swear, I couldn't taste the sauce, the cheese, or the tortillas. I couldn't taste anything. There was no taste to the enchiladas. They seemed extremely bland. There was some additional sauce on the side, and I tried that, I couldn't make out the flavors. The only thing I tasted was burnt tomatoes. The rice was bland as well, which is a reoccurring problem I've noticed in Mexican restaurants. The beans did not taste like they were cooked in animal fat (we made sure before eating our food), and they were hearty, warm, but bland. All in all, everything except the salsa and the piña colada was bland. It wasn't that good, whatsoever. I wouldn't recommend this place to others, especially if you're a vegetarian. I've been to better Mexican restaurants, with better ambience and food. If you're in town and you're looking for a good piña colada, this is where you should go to get it. I had the non-alcoholic, but it was deliciously made.
