I had the pleasure of take out from the Scroungy Moose today. A true hole in the wall up here ~ 7,000 ft in Kemmerer, WY. The owner and pizza extraordinaire's name was Tracy and he has some amazing photos of his journeys through magnificent mountain peaks from around the world. Now let's talk about the pizza, first and foremost, It's homemade and scrumptious as I had the meat, garlic and cheese pie. There's no doubt in my mind that if you're visiting or passing through this area, you must stop and taste this gentleman's pie. Incredible pizza! We got half frontier and half with artichokes. Ordered take out and brought it back to our room at fossil inn, and crust was so crispy, pizza was overall the best pizza i have ever eaten. When we pulled up outside we questioned our sanity but we were hungry and had promised the children pizza on our last night in town. I am glad we ordered from here and not a chain. First off: they are only carry out and only take cash. My daughter and I are gluten free and I can honestly say it was THE BEST crust I have ever had. The toppings were the BOMB! I loved that the onion was green onion and not the cheaper yellow or purple. I had the Bandito and would Never have thought of this combination but it works and is delicious! Picked up a pizza from this place passing through for the night. Crust had great texture and flavor, not too crunchy and not too chewy. Fresh toppings, proper saucing. Go pick up in person. Smell of the place is amazing. Had to have been the owner who served me. Such a nice guy. Definitely great experience. I'd give it a 4 star because I just don't give out 5 stars lightly. Unique and consistent small town pizza place. My favorite is the wapati. Offers take and bake, cash only.

Looking for pizza from somewhere other than Pizza Hut- came across this place in other reviews, wasn't sure about it but gave it a try. Owner was a local and very friendly. Small spot looked a little shady...almost couldn't find it but happy we did- if you're nervous to walk in just do it, the pizza is well worth it. This was great pizza! Fresh ingredients, and a wonderfully crispy but still fluffy crust. The garlic pizza literally had cloves of garlic on it, my kids and I loved it, husband not so much (but he's not a garlic lover). Ham and pineapple was top notch. Definitely would recommend and would stop again if we were back in the area. read more

We had the Alaska Yukon, it was thickly cover with it's delicious ingredients as was the unique Scroungy Cousteau which is for the more adventurous palate with its shrimp and smoked oysters, superb! Great pizza! Ordered the Wapiti -so good! When we ordered -The owner(it's a one man show) told me it'd be ready at 6 and it was. He also made sure I knew that the "7 inch" was really 6 1/4" and it explained its equivalent to a large slice -so we ordered a 14" . The Wapiti is rich (Alfredo sauce) so it ended up being dinner for two nights for my husband and I. If you have a few minutes look at his photos in his tiny gallery -Tracy (sp.?) If you're in Kemmerer and not eating Scroungy Moose then you're missing out! Super fresh and everything is made in house. The meats that he uses are second to none and the consistency is excellent. The pizza was good, but I called at 5 pm on a weekday and the only sizes left were 14 and 16 inches. It's a one-man, small operation and was slammed when I ordered. It took 45 minutes to be ready for takeout and was cash only. Pizza was good, with small slices. Only negative for me was the cheese stick (Rio) pizza had clumps of garlic on it. Stopped by here going through on a business trip. Can I say really really good! The guy who owns the place was awesome And very friendly. He was confident in all of his pizza as he said they were all good and would not recommend one over the other. I split a pie with a coworker and we killed it. It was greasy and was amazing. Hard to think it would be being where it is located but I will say give this place a stop by if you are passing through. This place is good. Real good. Crust is nice and crispy and not soggy and greasy. It has the lightly charred crust that is typical of a pizza made in a hot coal oven. I'd say it's similar to the Wild West Saloon Pizza in West Yellowstone. It's on my list of top pizzas encountered in the west. It ain't Lombardis, but the important thing is they do the crust right. If you do not like a nice oven baked crunchy crust with character and a bit of char then go to pizza hut. If you want something interesting go here. read more

Great pizza. They made a wonderful half and half combination for my son and I. The crust was great and the sauce was less is more.
