We decided to do our own little food tour within the market and sample some bites from a few stalls. We tried: 1. Masala dosa from Sambar & Spice. This may have been one of the best dosas I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating. So epic! A must try, 2. Chicken dumplings from Laobun - soft, freshly prepared and melt in your mouth good. Also affordable! 3. Fish tacos from the famous seafood spot. These were sadly my least favorite item on our little food tour, the slaw was overpowering but if removed the pan seared fish was flavorless. 4. I see a cleaner lady! think perfect she must've went in and cleaned it! NOPE ‍ first one we went into blood? or poop? was all over the toilet! okay! so I have to move my toddler back and tell her no! then the next 2! not any better toilet paper all over the seat! the floor it was disgusting. so we literally just left looked around the store part for a moment still felt grossed out left and immediately used hand sanitizer in the car. now! this being said I've closed places before so I don't blame the morning shift lady at all. but closing! are you serious? that was horrible! it was gross and honestly a healthy hazzard. I will say the one in La was so amazing that's what made us want to go back. I just doubt I will ever do it again in DC.

Whoo hoo, even better!…read more Located in the Capitol Lounge, this pizza pop-up is a creation by the Chez Le Commis (underground Arlington supper club) team, Victor and Tom - both are native Chicagoans, so I was super super super SUPER excited! Two kinds of pizzas are offered - deep dish and thin crust. Toppings include sausage, pepperoni, Italian beef, mushrooms, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, green peppers, giardiniera, and onion. Besides the pizzas, there are also salads (Antipasti Salad and Burrata), Toasted Ravioli, Italian Beef Sandwich, Pork Milanese, and Popcorn Ice Cream. Some dear friends and I came here for the first seating, and we tried: the Italian Beef Sandwich (cornmeal-dusted soft bread with thick-cut Italian beef; I wasn't a fan of this as it seemed more on the bland side; while juicy, it just didn't have much flavor to it); a thin crust pizza (extremely overly well-done, it was like a 'pizza cracker' - we just had pepperoni for the topping, but there was just way too much oregano (to the point where it seemed like it was a whole jug of it mixed in with the sauce); very hard to chew!); and, a Deep Dish with sausage, green peppers, and onion - this was literally like a Lou Malnati's style, with tons of marinara sauce on top and extremely wet; the 'cornmeal'-like crust was very dry and had an off flavor to it; the ingredients were extremely minimal, considering that the sausages and the like were each at a $4 additional charge!). Woman and minority owned and operated!…read more Ms. Bianca was such a pleasure to meet as I eagerly explored her shop located within Savor. She has a variety of bath and body products, jewelry, candles, t-shirts and hats (most with the logo Black Excellence), and other little trinkets and accessories all made by local DMV artists and curators...AMAZING!! Her personable nature and through knowledge about each items was fantastic...and I look forward to purchasing from her in near future, particularly the sugar scrubs and shea butters.
