Just so happen to be riding by this place today and decided to give it a try. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. Soon as you walk into the establishment you are greeted with the Caribbean atmosphere not to Mention a friendly staff who helped you with the menu and explain the dishes if you had any questions. The colors..the music..the decor and the atmosphere ....is all a vibe..although the menu is limited I can tell this is a cultural aware restaurant who is tailored to their authenticity of the flavor of their dishes. Fairly new spot in town. Food was fantastic. Music outside is VERY loud so when you open and close the doors, be warned. The owners are very friendly and the portions are great. A few things are pricey like the ox tail dish so you may want to be prepared to spend some money but the mini meals are good sizes. Let's talk about our order: 1. Pholourie - fried dough balls with a tamarind chutney and a pepper sauce dip. These are a bit bland if you eat it on its own. The condiments give it its flavor. It's great with the tamarind chutney. The pepper sauce is really spicy so if that's your thing- go for it. I personally didn't think the pepper sauce had enough flavor to add. It was just pure heat. 2. Salted fish pholourie These have more flavor than the plain ones. You can taste some salted anchovies in the batter. 3. Stewed Ox tail w/trini rice, fried plaintains and spinach lentil curry OMG! My family devoured this! It's more on the sweet side but so good. There were only 4-5 oxtail pieces but we thoroughly enjoyed every last bite. 4. Curried chicken w/mango & curry potato We had this with roti - which is like a large Indian paratha (the flaky kind). We enjoyed this as well. If you're used to Indian food, this will remind you of some South Indian flavors. Wasn't a fan of the mango but the curry potato was good. It had a mix of chick peas. 5. Mini Reggae Jerk w/trini rice & potato salad We had PLENTY of trini rice leftover but the potato salad.... Gone. It was a great balance of smooth potato mush with celery crunchy. Very flavorful and a great accompaniment to the nicely seasoned reggae jerk. It wasn't super spicy and my kids enjoyed it. 6. Mini Trini bbq w/trini rice & potato salad Same with the bbq. Great flavors and a hit. 7. Escovitch Fish (red snapper) w/trini rice & green plaintains This dish was a bit hard to eat because it's essentially a full fried fish. A little bland if you don't eat it with all the pickled veggies on top so be sure you're eating each bite with all the fixings. A light but filling dish. Highly recommend trying this place out! We only have 2 restaurants that serve Trini food that I am aware of so my family was really excited to check it out. Call before you go to make sure they are open. Did I expect to get potato salad from a Caribbean restaurant. Absolutely not. Am I mad? Absolutely not!! I got the Jerk Chicken which came with a side of Trini rice and you're choice of veggies or potato salad. I got the potato salad, and there were no disappointed bites here. It was delicious! The jerk chicken was also amazing! I will say everything was a little pricier than I was ready for, BUT I do blame that on inflation. And of course it's specialty food. Absolutely amazing flavorful food and very nice service. The atmosphere is fun and tropical and the owner took the time to speak with us. The food is the absolute highlight though. There is so many complex flavors of sweet and spicy. My jerk chicken was perfectly cooked and flavored. Rice is usually good but this rice was amazing and I'd eat it anytime. I've also had the goat curry which was superb. It was served with a potato and chickpea side that was immaculate as well. read more

The most authentic carribean food since my mother's cooking. Food is flavorful and plated nicely. The chef puts his love for satisfying taste buds in each and every dish. If you get there early enough on a Saturday or Sunday you can get delighted by some doubles. They also have a bar with signature drinks from the islands. The vibe at the bar is real nice and the music is always pumping. I really feel welcomed and at home when I dine here. Trinidad and all of the carribean islands are represented well here. read more

I ordered the chicken curry with roti. I was expecting chicken cut in pieces so I could wrap my roti around it but it was 2 pieces of chicken(1 leg and 1 thigh). What a fun place! Delicious food. The pineapple salsa on top of the jerk chicken was really good. The restaurant is clean and the atmosphere took me back to the restaurants in Jamaica. They had fun Carribean music playing, and we love eating outside when the weather is nice. We will definitely bring people back here. I really felt like I stepped into a food hut on a tropical island. The food was a bit of a wait but only because it was made to order and the escovitch was whole red snapper and it was absolutely worth the wait. Both fish and chicken were fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful. Fish was crispy, rice was not overcooked and packed with flavor, tostones were perfectly cooked and crispy. Paired with a Red Stripe beer it was all perfection. We will definitely be regulars here. read more

I've dined in and gotten to-go meals here and am thoroughly impressed! Yes, I love the jerk chicken which is about the only Caribbean-style meal I knew about before coming here (lol), but there is so much more to love as well! Their house-made bread is out of this world. I don't quite know how to describe it other than a Caribbean version of naan but much softer and more pliable. The roti dish is so amazing along with any of the jerk options. Make a point to come here on the weekend since those are the only days they are open! I have been wanting to try this new restaurant every since they opened, but with their limited hours and my hectic schedule it's been hard. I finally made it happen on a Sunday night about an hour before closing. I was surprised their was a drive thru window, which is always convenient. I decided to go inside to order because it was my first time. I was greeted immediately after walking in. The staff were patient and answered all of my questions. The special for the day was Jerk ribs. I love jerk chicken so I had to try the ribs. It was topped with a pineapple medley salsa. I also ordered the Oxtails and Jerk Chicken. The oxtails were my favorite. Although, the portion size seemed small for the price. They were really tender and delicious so I could've used a few more lol. The sauce on the jerk items had a bit of a different flavor than what I'm used to with Jamaican Jerk, not bad just different. I'm not sure if there's wine, but that's the flavor that seemed the most powerful. The rice and vegetables were cooked perfectly. Everything was still delicious when heated up for leftovers the next day. I will be returning to try more menu items. read more

I had the jerk chicken combo with rice and veggies. The chicken was really good. No complaints at all. The sides weren't good at all. The veggies and rice were bland & the consistency of the rice was strange. However, I'm hopefully about the potential of the other items on the menu so I'll give them one more chance. read more

I was excited to see that someone had bought the defunct Chinese restaurant that used to be in this building last year. Anticipation built as I watched the new owners add new paint on the building and remodel the outdoor seating area. Now I'm even more excited that there is a Caribbean food option much closer to me. Carican Flavors is great, but I don't live close to it. This place is in a transition from food truck to restaurant. Even though you can sit down indoors or outdoors to eat, everything is served on styrofoam with plastic utensils. This makes it convenient for taking leftovers home, but it's not the same as going to, say, Off the Hook, that also made the jump from a food truck but serves its food using trays and baskets that get cleaned in the restaurant's dishwasher. Anyway, the food is truly unique in Oklahoma City. As I mentioned above, to my knowledge, Carican Flavors is the only other OKC restaurant that specializes in Caribbean food. I've been here twice in the past month and enjoyed my meals both times. The first time, I ordered the jerk chicken meal with rice and veggies. The chicken was grilled with generous charring and tasted great with the green sauce that accompanied it. You never know what to expect when you see "veggies" on the menu, but theirs is sauteed cabbage with a few others mixed in. It comes out fork tender. The rice is a mix between fried rice and rice & beans with plenty of flavor. The second time, I ordered the goat curry with roti. There was a generous serving of goat in the curry. The sauce was a bit bland at first, but adding some of their house hot sauce brought out more curry flavor. I saved half of it for later in the week, and it tasted just as good heated up in my microwave on a cold February day. The goat curry came with a mango relish that was thick and mildly sweet. It also came with a chickpea and potato curry that I enjoyed eating on top of the roti. Next time, I will try eating some of the curry on top of the roti, too. On both visits, my party was served a complimentary basket of pholourie. These savory fritters are so much better than hush puppies! I wish that they were served at every seafood restaurant to go with their fried fish. They're great with or without the sweet-and-sour dipping sauce. read more

Well I would give 4 stars but I know it will get better the food was great the cashiers kinda young but I think they need to be trained on customer service and the knowledge of the menu. Very quirky hours, I visit OKC regularly but tried 3xs to finally enter the door. We just moved to OKC today and we were looking for some comfort food after shuffling boxes in and out of places and trucks. I was reading places out loud and my wife, who is Trini, said "ohhh yeah. I want roti." We made the 15 minute trek and were greeted by wonderful smells and warm smiles. The owner and my wife talked Trini for a long time and I loved seeing my wife smile like that. Now, my wife is picky, especially about Trini food and we just got back from NYC where we had the best of the best with her family so I was nervous but she and I both loved everything. I got the curry chicken rice (kicking myself for not getting the roti) plate and she got the curry shrimp roti plate with three doubles and Accra to start with. Everything was so tasty and fresh and delicious, even by my wife's standards. We will be regulars here no question. Fun atmosphere, kind staff, and the food is so flavorful and yummy.
