This is a long review but hope that it will provide some balanced info as you consider your…read moreoptions. Our loved one was a long-time resident of Goddard House (GH). They entered as an alert and mobile resident. GH promises "you can age in place" but our loved one was forced out as they required more care in spite of the fact that fellow residents were wheel chair restricted and required all sorts of care. Our family was willing to provide 24/7 private care but still we were told we had to leave. GH is a non-profit with volunteer board that is supposed to oversee the organization. There are no terms of office for these trustees; they serve year after year, including the board chair who hired a for-profit management company, SLR which brought tensions. SLR yanked long-standing, resident-focused policies such as financial rent assistance if family paid in full for three years. Policy is gone. However, the board chair requested the admission of at least one resident with full financial assistance at the outset because this person was a friend of hers. There were four changes of Executive Director in the time we were there and at least as much as head chef in the kitchen and head of resident care/nursing. I do not believe there is an R.N. on staff. The facility is outdated. Several bathroom resident falls occurred due to outdated bathroom design. Apartment bathrooms are being updated now as residents vacate but it does not help families whose loved ones fell. Additionally, carpets on 2nd and 3rd floors are original to construction! Yet, the board sits on a hefty quasi-endowment and does nothing. Lastly, the organization was slow to respond to a gastrointestinal virus that initiated in their kitchen and spread throughout the community. Goddard is terrific for a resident who is independent, mobile and requires little care. Brookline is a great location because of its proximity to academic medicine, but if your loved one requires additional care as they age, you may need to leave GH or you might be one of the fortunate ones to be allowed to stay.

They continue to be my eyes and ears in MA. I couldn't have asked for a smoother move and adjustment. When my mother was no longer able to live on her own in Florida due to cognitive decline from Alzheimers/dementia, Sue Lewin worked with me to find placement in a wonderful long term care facility specializing in memory care here in Massachusetts. Sue Lewin, her business partner Esther Rothkopf, and the rest of the Generations team did a wonderful job for my mother. As care managers, they partnered with me in advocacy, as well as providing great emotional support for both my mother and me during many difficult times (and believe me, in the beginning, tears were not unusual!). I could rely on them to attend (either with me or in my place) the quarterly Care Plan Meetings at the facility, keeping detailed records and asking many of the important questions regarding day-to-day care and medications that I didn't think to ask. Since I work full time, Sue and her team also made regular visits when I could not, and would send updates and observations regarding my mother's health and wellbeing. They also served as an invaluable liaison, with the ability during the day to approach nursing staff, the nurse practitioner, the social worker, etc... to ask questions or voice any concerns that I might have. In addition, they would purchase and bring over things that my mother might need when I could not. Whether days or evenings, weekdays or weekends, Sue and Esther were just a phone call, text or email away. My mother recently passed away at the end of November at the age of 88, and in her final 4 1/2 years she was able to maintain a much better quality of life, living closer to family in a safe, comfortable and stimulating environment, and for that I am deeply grateful to Generations: All About Elders.

Also, something you should for sure be aware of,that since Oct 6th,their has been ablatant por Israel vibe, waht with flyers, all manner of displays of the war that started in Oct 6th in Gaza. And just like on all of the college/univercities in the area,God forbid you have the nerve/gaul to stand up-speak up for the thousands of women/ children/BABIES being slaughtered in Gaza, and they would probably try to have YIOU deported. They are SOOO biasd/pregidished againt Christian tenants, and gushing with affection/warmth TOWARDS their Jewish bretheren. So obvious, please. I can almost see some of management "Clutching their collective pearls" vehemently denying what i just said,Don't believe me,look at the screen shots of all the pro Israel "propaganda scattered about the lobby.Other folks have also made similiar comments, but are hesident to speak up for fear that they will retalliate by evicting them on some Trumpted up/bogus charge. Also,I haven't gotten to the best part,For roughly 2 years,I have had to deal with this nutsy koo koo resident who because of teh "Mysterious toxic fumes comming from the laundry room, she felt she had the right to crank open the window, winter and summer, letting out the heat in winter and cooling in summer. In addition, since they had be in the prodcess of constructing their 4th senior apt bldg, there was a great deal of construction dust blowing into the hallway window by the elevator.I begged thenm for ovwer 2 yrs to do something about, they said they tried?,but I doubt their tenacity frankly. It was only after bundling up and going out against my doctor's wishes in the cold,I went down to the regioal HUD office, and filed aformal complaint, and only after they were contacted by their reprsentative at Mass Housing did they do what they could have just have easily done TWO years ago,and remove the window crank.Did I mention that about a year prior, said crazy crank lady had come to my door one weeend Sat,and pounded on the door, and prceeded to yell "Where is i'Where is it?" Then 15 minutes later I hear the door pounded on AGAIN,and yup,you guess it,Crazy Crank Lady this time with a Brookline PD ranting "where is it,Where is it?"Where is what i calmly replied? the crank!!!I I laughed and said,"Well it takes a CRANK to know a crank i guess,You may laugh if you wish,as it is mildly funny. Not so the stress that the whole ordeal has heaped upon me.My Geriatrician was becomming concerned,as I was not in the greatest of health w/a lung condition, partly exaubated by the OPEN window, blowing in toxic construction dust. All in all,it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth.that and as well their pretty obvious lack of respect for the other TWO Abrahamic religions.Don't nice caring, empatic, compassionate women like me deserve better?

This facility will literally will put your loved one at risk. My father was rushed to the ER after I found him slumped over in a chair. His room was next to the nursing station. I asked the nurse simple questions like has a doctor made his rounds today and seen my father and did he eat his breakfast. The nurse would not answer these questions directly, forcing me to ask them repeatedly until she admitted she did not know the answers and would have to get back to me. I then asked for assistance for my father. Two people came to check on my father including the doctor. It was not until the 3RD person came in and they took his vitals. It was a dire situation and he desperately needed O2. Thankfully they relented and called the ambulance. During this difficult time, the nurse who I asked the simple questions reported me to the administration. Jeremy, some sort of nursing supervisor, entered my room (while my father was in distress) and accused me of threatening behavior, which he could not articulate. He then threatened to call the POLICE to have my arrested. LOL Guys, these guys are unprofessional clowns. If you have a loved one who you care about, do not send them here. If you have someone you are trying to get rid of or possibly punish, this is your place.
