It was a wonderful experience. I had PT and OT every day beginning 11/16. My call bell was almost always answered immediately. The night staff did not smile or talk much but they always helped me in the way I needed or asked for. I had never been hospitalized before other than maternity. Scar tissue starts forming immediately after surgery so PT and OT are vital Immediately, not a week down the road when the VNA can schedule home visits. I was considered a hifi functioning patient so could have returned home. I'm so glad I opted for North Hill Rehab. There is no way my needs could be met at home in such a timely fashion.

I have been on involuntary bedrest for 4 days and have lost function since I arrived from the hospital. Developed a UTI because I was afraid to drink because no one comes to help with the bedpan and I didn't want to wet the bed. Developed lower back pain because I have been trapped in a bed since arrival. only once since I arrived did anyone help with bathing. I've heard staff yell at patients with dementia or mental illness. Horrifying. I never knew places like this existed. It's like a cross between a homeless shelter and a psych hospital but with meaner, less competent staff. Inexcusable.

Until the end of our mother's 13 years there, we would have agreed enthusiastically. In November 2025, our mom, a Lasell Village resident since 2013, died after a fall that could have been prevented had a safety protocol for staff been in place. It was only following this avoidable tragedy that we discovered there really are two sides to Lasell Village. The first is the exceptional front line staff: housekeeping, dining, facilities, I.T., fitness, transportation, wellness; those who interact directly with residents on a day-to-day basis are uniformly caring, dedicated, skillful and willing to go above and beyond. The second is the leadership whose president's previous experience was with a publicly traded senior living conglomerate whose investors included BlackRock and Vanguard. Her background seemed like an unlikely fit for a non-profit that used to be affiliated with a college, but it makes sense in light of the corporate direction she has taken Lasell Village in since her arrival. While acknowledging that our mother's death prompted them to address the gaps in their safety protocol, she rejected our request to participate in the process of developing a comprehensive plan because we were no longer customers. Apparently, the reason we are no longer customers didn't earn us a seat at the table. It is obviously too late for our family to benefit from a comprehensive safety policy. At this stage, our sole motivation is the interests of the front-line staff and residents of Lasell Village. In sharing our experience, we hope to prompt leadership including the board and president to be more transparent and focused on the safety of its residents. We also want prospective residents to be able to make a fully informed decision. There remain many positive aspects of living at Lasell Village--primarily its front-line staff--but they need to be weighed against the bottom-line focus of its leadership.

We were very patient and kind because we understood times were stressful for the staff my grandmother passed away due to negligence (they allowed a cut in her mouth to get infected and never provided proper care for her). I'm sorry to report that the care there is NOT good. In fact, it's terrible. My cousin (a nurse) said that she had to have confrontations with the staff on a DAILY basis because they were "horrible." The aids are rude and hostile foreigners, who barely speak English. Here is one example of the mistreatment my aunt received: Despite having communicated very clearly that my aunt is severely allergic to wheat gluten, the kitchen has REPEATEDLY sent her gluten-containing foods. Naturally, this causes my aunt's stomach to get "upset." She wasn't able to get to the bathroom on time. When this happened, the nurse's aide scolded her and said, "Look at the mess you made!" My aunt was taken aback and said, "Do you think I wanted this to happen??" Then, to make matters worse, she said that the aide was very rough with her as she was cleaning her. What kind of disrespectful nursing care is that??!! My aunt is supposed to have physical therapy, daily, but my cousin said that, many times, "she stays in bed all day." When she does have PT, it is good, but there just isn't enough of it. Half of the time, my cousin said, she would go in to visit, and my aunt wouldn't have her oxygen on! Then, the nurses would proceed to argue with her about whether or not she needed it. (My aunt has fluid in her lungs from cancer!) It hasn't even been a full week yet and we want to transfer her out of this place. I can't believe Mary Ann Morse has the AUDACITY to treat our elderly citizens this way, and then send a bill to insurance and our government, calling it "healthcare." Do I need to I say anything more? Beware! Do NOT go here!

The care she received at Maryann Morse from the staff there could not have been better. Her therapists were attentive and taught my family great ideas to care for her at home and she ended up spending a lot of time laughing with her roommate. It is great to see the difference being there made for her and my family. I am out of state and the communication was outstanding. This was very scary for us as a family and I couldn't be more grateful to the staff for their kindness and understanding. It is the people in a facility that make it what it is and you can't find a better group.

My mom went to Stone rehab to recover from hip surgery. There were a number of alarming things that…read moreoccurred during her stay. The health aids were rough with my mom when she needed help getting to the bathroom or if she needed to be cleaned off from incontinence. She waited several hours to be cleaned off sitting in a soiled adult pad or after she threw up. There were feces in the shared bathroom floor for several hours. The aids would leave her food or water completely out of her reach. When I became concerned for my mom's life the nurses were dismissive. One insisted her vitals were fine and the other said if I was unhappy with the care she was receiving I should take my mom somewhere else. When I finally got through to the nurse because I thought my mom was dehydrated, it took the nurse 2 hours to get an ambulance. The nurse delayed the process by calling the doctor on call first and threatened that if I called the ambulance that I would lose my mom's room. About 2 hours after my mom arrived at the hospital she stopped breathing. She had an infection (sepsis). The doctors tried to save her and unfortunately, the next morning she passed away. Upon reading the notes from the hospital the doctor and nurses recorded that my mom was severely dehydrated and malnourished. I have since learned that these sorts of facilities have a disincentive to send a patient to the hospital because it lowers their ratings.

I was referred to Nursing on Demand. I cannot begin to say how grateful and thankful I am. I spoke with Brenda right away and she was able to get someone immediately!! I was so relieved. Angela has been a god sent. Thankfully my Dad is finally coming home. I hope I never am in a situation like this again, but with elderly parents with medical issues it is inevitable.
