I always have a predilection for locally own Mom and Pop pharmacies rather than national chain retail pharmacies as the stock is always different. Careland Pharmacy carry brands that its national or retail chain pharmacies do not which is a hard find but is a advantageous benefit. This small pharmacy is conveniently accessible nearby 2, 3 trains at Clark Street and A, C trains at High Street- Brooklyn Bridge. Upon entering I did not see any staff nor was I greeted and neither offered assistance during my browsing. Do not expect the staff to assist you when browsing as the one person staff Vanessa stands idle behind the cash register like a useless statue ignoring customers and does not check-in should customers need assistance of the standard "may I help you?" Vanessa stood behind the cashier counter in a very melancholy and stolid appearance. Ergo, they DO NOT "care" for customers albeit the business name Careland Pharmacy. Can this business walk and take action to uphold the alleged claim rather than talk the talk alleged claims? I was seeking pain relief ointment as a first aid treatment. I LOVE the built-in wall bookcase layout as oppose to the standard aisle shelves which reduces retail space. There is a limited stationery selection. read more

The pharmacists are very knowledgeable and were able to answer my quick questions about the medications in question. Had a terrible experience trying to get a package from this UPS access point. I arrived with the slip the delivery person leaves on one's door. I presented the slip and ID and was told, with a little snark, that my ID wasn't needed. When the clerk looked up the delivery and saw it was connected to my place of employment, she said, "NOW I need your ID." Really?!! She proceeded to retrieve a package, did some double checking and decided it wasn't mine. She then declared they didn't have it. I tracked the package through the UPS app and it said it had been delivered an hour before. Nope, she insisted, not here. Four hours and FIVE UPS (they kick rocks too but don't get me started!!!) phone calls later...I returned to the store, hoping for another clerk. Thank goodness I got one. She decided to go through EVERY package and guess what? My package was there. Grateful for the clerk who persisted. Super disappointed in the other one. read more

I was looking for a thermometer and realized there's a local pharmacy nearby. I walked in and asked if they had one and the tiny lady with the ombré hair said yes to which I eagerly asked the price. She stopped reaching for the thermometer, looked back at me and said "I need to check the price". I thought that was odd seeing as she could've just checked without the extra words. I wasn't aware there were two different options. I was told the price of both but realized the cheaper option said no batteries on the front. I mentioned it had no batteries and asked what size batteries were needed since I just purchased THREE packs of coin batteries in different sizes by mistake. She said I don't know if it comes with batteries and I mentioned it says it on the front so I wasn't sure what else it could mean. She proceeded to say "It means there's no batteries" like I didn't just tell her exactly that. Not sure if she assumed I was being snippy but I was being serious. I don't know why people are out here selling thermometers without the batteries knowing how many variations in batteries those shits take. All I really wanted to know was what type of battery would I need. With no answers and my annoyance rising I just took the more expensive, forehead thermometer with batteries stating that regardless I always have triple A's in the house and will always stock them vs coin batteries. She verified that the more expensive one comes with batteries. I go to pay for the thermometer and saw they had the chip insert. She said swipe but it usually doesn't swipe if there's a chip insert. When she saw me insert the chip she said "I said to swipe". Even after all that I said please and thank you and left. I don't know what the hell her problem is but she's miserable and off putting. I'll probably walk the extra block or so to CVS. read more

The management here is terrible - do not by any means patronize this establishment. Amazingly, they keep contacting Yelp and requesting that my negative review be taken down. Is that the kind of business you want to give your hard-earned money to? I think not. Come on people... You can't only have positive reviews! I simply wanted to note that I live around the corner. I stopped by when they first opened and found the experience lacking. It also seems like an ill-thought-out-plan. It looks very highly-designed... Too much. Like they are trying to show a concept that may be used in other places - like a showroom for investors - not a place to shop. We in the hood were so looking forward to a great new addition. This place is isn't it... You could here the collective sigh when the signs went up, 'oh nooooo.... Not another pharmacy.' Who does that? There are SO MANY places close by. I can only describe Careland Pharmacy as the bomb! My Mom uses their pharmacy services, and their prices are super duper low! Rite-Aid prices were out of bounds for the medications! The delivery guy is so sweet and personable!! They call before a prescription is needed to remind you. Careland delivers all over the place without hesitation. This is a review for their prescription delivery services. Price-wise, this place is a blessing for prescriptions. Huge savings. But they misprinted the dosage on my prescription and if I hadn't called my doctor I would have taken a third more of my prescription that I was meant to. This is obviously not a small matter! In addition, the delivery person complained to me that it was "too busy" at my location and he didn't want to deliver there again. I will keep using them b/c the price is right, but only for this prescription. read more

Holy ham sandwich! This place actually wants to make you better. My boyfriend has been having the most horrendous migraines. His insurance is simple catastrophic, no bells nor whistles. The cost for filling at Duane was $125 + $60 card. The pharmacists @Careland listened to the problem, called Duane, called our doctor, and filled for $37, in under 5 minutes. read more

The pharmacy inside is immaculate, gorgeous, and the products are well placed. its hard for me to support 1 more pharmacy, when for the last 6 years Demetri from city chemist has been taking care of my health. Careland is across the street from Gristedes, which has a much better stocked drug store department as well as a pharmacy. I made the mistake of going to Careland first when I needed large waterproof bandaids. There was little to choose from and the product I picked was expensive and turned out not to be big enough for my needs. Then I went to Gristedes and found a bigger selection for less money. From now on, I will always go to Gristedes first if I'm in that part of Brooklyn Heights. But keep in mind there are better drug store options just a few blocks away: CVS, Rite-Aid and Duane Reade. read more

I get monthly refills so which pharmacy I choose is super important. This place is fantastic. They are my advocate, so I don't need to be. They contact doctors for prescription refills and insurance issues, without my involvement. You know you have a good pharmacist when you basically don't have to interact with them because they take care of everything. Ordering, delivery. New prescriptions. I was given a script for a very expensive antibiotic that my insurance didn't cover. They took it upon themselves to see if the doctor would prescribe a similar medication. Once when my baggage was lost, they fedexed me my meds and arranged to have it picked up at airport and driven to my hotel. Best pharmacy ever had!! read more

I switched to this pharmacy since it was not a chain and one of many in the neighborhood. I had just started Medicare and unfortunately have found this pharmacy lacking in service. A number of negative situations occurred. For example, after the first prescriptions were filled, I had a change and when my wife went to pick it up was berated by someone who told her that my renewals had been sitting there for weeks. At that point, no one had informed me that they had automatically renewed. I had a backlog, so there was no urgency and I assumed it was up to me to renew. After that, I was sometimes informed by mail, sometimes by phone, sometimes not at all. However, recently when I called to inquire if the renewals were ready, I was told that they needed to get authorization for one of the three, but the doctor's office hadn't called back. It took my 2 minutes to confirm that the office had no record of a call and they renewed. A final example is that this renewal took several weeks! to be completed for a simple and common thyroid medication. Despite several promises, visits and calls, they never let me know when the meds finally came in. Unfortunately on one visit, I overheard that they could find this medication at a low enough cost to supply me. I'm about to renew at a chain after this experience despite my preference for patronizing small businesses. read more
