Professional, friendly, respectful, attentive, and courteous. My physical therapist, Jacob Martin,…read moreevaluated an ongoing problem that was causing me to lose sleep every night and... fixed it. He was very careful to explain his approach to me, including the importance of trying one potential fix at a time. He constantly monitored my pain levels and taught me about what I needed to change to get better as well as how my body works. I gained self understanding and awareness that will serve me well in the future. Their hours are broad - the earliest therapist starts at 7:15, while others come in at 9am and stay until 6. The reception and staffing, on the other hand, like almost all doctors' offices, was less than stellar. They're very regular about calling patients the day before to remind them about their upcoming appointment, which is great. I did have some problems with billing, however, including an attempted double charge, and the receptionist who said my referral "had not arrived" when it was sitting in their inbox. Their computer system seems problematic. The experience was still a positive one. If my problem ever recurs, or if I have a new concern that this therapist can treat, I will certainly come back, and would recommend him.

Located not actually in SNW, but in the building next door, this physical therapy facility seems pretty well equipped for the treatment of all sorts of injuries. Lots of gym-like equipment, some weighted balls, private curtained treatment areas, a cool computer machine with lots of attachments for simulation of different life skills, ultrasound machine to deliver deep heat, and hot/cold packs to alleviate pain/relax muscles and whatnot. The only thing missing, I think, is a pool and hot tub. Wendy is an occupational/hand therapist , so she's been working on/with me for the rehabilitation of my elbow. Our sessions always start with a hot pad on my elbow, then Wendy manipulates my elbow into positions that it certainly doesn't want to go into. Which sucks. A lot. Again, for my own good. After that, she likes to mix it up, which I like, because I'd get bored with the same thing time after time after time. She has a pretty decent knowledge of how my insurance works and is very conscientious about the number of visits I have remaining, making the most out of each one. On the down side, Wendy is a REALLY busy lady, so scheduling can be a bit of a hassle. I've taken to scheduling a couple months out, knowing that I can cancel, if I miraculously get better faster than anticipated. Who am I kidding, I'd expected to be way better than I currently am at this point. No more timeline anticipation here. On the up side, with Wendy's help, I've made considerable progress in my recovery. When I first started, I couldn't extend my arm past a 90 degree angle. I don't have full extension yet, but it's much, much better. We're working on flexion which has been a torturous process. It'll get there. Eventually. AND I CAN WASH MY HAIR WITH BOTH HANDS NOW!

SPEAK WITH YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY AFTER CAPITAL HOME HEALTH COMES TO YOUR HOME TO SIGN YOU UP FOR THEIR SERVICES, IN ORDER TO MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE WILL COVER THE COST. I spoke with the case manager from Capital Home Health for Austin home physical therapy after my intake by their physical therapist. The lady with whom I spoke called from Dallas and could not have been ruder. She took great enjoyment in speaking over me repeatedly, not allowing me to ask questions, not allowing me to question the referral, nor allowing me to question the number of days authorized. I ended up telling her she was fired after 10 minutes of this. Bottom line, if I allowed Capitol Home Health to treat me as they planned, my insurance company only authorized 3 days of treatment. Capitol Home Health wanted to treat me for six to eight weeks. While their contract states that you would only pay what the insurance pays, and wouldn't have to pay a copay beyond that, in this situation the bill would have been catastrophic and would have ended up being a court case.

I can't say enough good things about Williams. They have on-site behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Each classroom has a quiet sensory room attached for children who get over stimulated, and there's an indoor gross motor room that my son was able to able to utilize when he became too hyperactive. They have smaller class sizes, and were able to work with him one-on-one when he needed it. The teachers and other staff were all very competent and capable. We interviewed at several different schools, most of which had said that they would be willing to take him and might be able to meet his needs, but it gave me a great deal of Peace of mind KNOWING that this school would be able to with with him regardless of his behaviors. Both my children thrived at the school, where they were only surviving before. I also think it was a very valuable experience for both of them to be surrounded by this diverse population and the teacher was even able to challenge them both academically, even though they were only in preschool. They both loved going to school there, and they learned a lot! My older son was eventually diagnosed with ADHD, sensory integration disorder, and a tic disorder. He's now transitioned to public school. Well see how that goes. Williams set the bar really high.

If you have a child with autism, try to find them therapy through another center if you can. Therapists often cancel sessions as late as 30 minutes before they are scheduled, but parents are only allowed to cancel 3 sessions in 6 months with less than 24 hours' notice. Everyone who has kids know that illnesses strike, especially when your child is in school. After that, you have to pay for sessions missed. You can't waste their time, but they get to waste yours. When new schedules are being made for each quarter, parents are the last to know and often get only a week to review new schedules before they go into effect, if that. New therapist are constantly being trained, which means your child has to accommodate a new therapist visiting often and conducting therapy programs with him/her. This has been a generally negative experience in my opinion since many kids with autism do not do well with new people in this capacity. In general, considering how much they charge my insurance company, we will be looking elsewhere soon. There are some really good therapists here, but they are not the norm.

They took the time to conduct a proper examination, which is sadly infrequent these days. They explained everything very well and just at the right level of detail without being at all condescending like some doctors are. They consulted me on every aspect of my care, including whether or not I wanted a brace or medication. They also told me up-front that my insurance may not cover the brace they offered. They're all highly knowledgeable about their specialization. All the resources and information offered to me are incredibly helpful. I deeply appreciated the level of respect and kindness with which they treated me. It's nice to feel like a real person at a doctor's office and to walk out happy and confident that I've had a quality medical experience. In all, I left an hour after I went in, and that's including the wait at the on-site pharmacy for my prescription. I highly recommend Dr. Bergin and her staff.
