They recently installed a harm reduction vending machine that dispenses items people need but can't afford. The items are free after completing a brief survey. Caitlin and Logan came to the Mt. Washington Community Council meeting to tell residents about the vending machine. The annual prescription drug takeback event was held in the parking lot of HealthSource on Saturday, October 29. Simultaneously, there were people set up with tables to help those who needed assistance with Medicaid, SNAP food benefits, insurance questions, etc. They provided a very helpful guide to Hamilton County Public Health services. I brought an unhoused woman to the event and Caitlin, a HealthSource employee, helped her get a password to use the harm reduction vending machine. That day, the woman got a hygiene kit, a first aid kit, an HIV at-home test kit, and a safe sex kit. Logan, another HealthSource employee, gave the woman several bottles of water, snacks, and an entire pizza to share with others. From the workers, I learned where I can take this woman to get identification that was stolen from her. I stayed with the woman while we waited 20 minutes for the results of the HIV test kit. It was negative and she was thrilled. Not only did HealthSource provide invaluable items and resources, they did in the kindest, most loving way. Thank you, HealthSource, for providing dignity and resources to those who need it most.

My mother (and my father until his passing) lived in the Seasons community for 11 years - 9 years at Seasons and 2 years at Courtyard. The years in independent living was tolerable - Courtyard, not so much. The lack of staffing, particularly at night, was very concerning. When you have one nurse on duty and a scattering of aides handling 3 floors of elderly residents, this is makes for a less than ideal assisted living arrangement. Care conferences were never held, repairs requested for her apartment (broken tile in bathroom - possible trip hazard), thorough apartment cleaning as stipulated in lease agreement each took over a year to achieve. Other than an ideal location there is nothing ideal about Courtyard. My mother at age 96 passed away recently and no one in the management of Senior Lifestyle had the humanity to even utter condolences to our family. Concerns regarding the facility were also voiced to the President of Senior Lifestyle in their Chicago headquarters and has also been completely ignored. Would NOT recommend this facility to any family looking for an assisted living facility.
