Quest Diagnostics was founded as Metropolitan Pathology Laboratory, Inc. in 1967 by Paul A. Brown,…read moreMD. Today, the company is headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey, and operates 2,000 patient locations and dozens of clinical laboratories throughout the U.S. Services they offer include diagnostics, clinical trials, risk management, and drug screening. Quest Diagnostics is the world's leading provider of diagnostic information services. Half of the doctors and hospitals in the country rely on Quest Diagnostics to provide critical information that helps them manage their patients' health, and one-third of American adults in the U.S. will interact with Quest this year. I like that the Quest website is user friendly. I can easily see available appointments across their many locations, book an appointment, and quickly view my results when they are ready. The results also include easy to understand information so I know what they mean. Pro tip: drink water before you come in to help plump up your veins. My doctor does not draw blood in the office, and at this point I have been to multiple Quest locations all over Broward County. The Margate Quest was a little harder to find than the other locations I have visited. It is a very small office located in a medical office building next to Northwest Hospital. The morning of my appointment, I received a link to check in when I arrived, but the link didn't work. I kept trying it over and over, and it still wouldn't work. I went inside to check in, but it was very busy and only one of the kiosks was working. By the time I was able to check in, the screen informed me that I was 10 minutes past my appointment time and had to make a new appointment. This was so frustrating. The next appointment time was not for another hour. I finally got everything straightened out, but I wasted a lot of time, and there was no one I could speak to at Quest since employees only came out sporadically to take people back. I tried calling Quest, but the wait time to speak to someone was 20 minutes, and the call kept dropping. I was finally taken back, and my phlebotomist was Maria. She was very gentle and made the rest of my experience the best it could be. I usually bruise, and there wasn't even a mark this time. I would use this location again, but I would arrive earlier for my appointment in case there is a problem checking in.

The check in process has been easy and they show your name on the screen so you know when your turn is coming up . In their defense, the 2 employees that were there were nice enough. However, after a 45 minute wait past my appointment time, I was led in to the MRI room. It took the tech no less than 10 attempts to slide the bed portion in to the machine. (Not due to my size at 135 lbs). I ask if everything is oK. She says I am not sure what's going on with this machine been giving her problems. So I was already concerned. She throws a headset on so they can give me breathing directions. These also don't work. She can hear me, I can not hear her directions. I am raising my feet to get her attention. I said let me out, I am done here. She says I can go to another machine IN COOPER CITY. I asked for a receipt stating that no tests were performed so that I don't get billed. They had nothing to give me. I'll pay the extra for peace of mind, professional office, and feeling confident that my test will be performed properly. That will not happen here. *****GO ELSEWHERE**** I failed to mention....my MRI was WITH contrast and without. Every other facility cleans the area, inserts the port, flushes the port, then holds it in place before being placed in to the machine. This way once the without contrast is run, they simply inject the dye through the port without me having to exit the machine. NOPE, not this place. No port was ever inserted. At this point, Thank God because they clearly had absolutely no idea what they were doing. So, really, poor equipment and poorly trained employees.

We waited a hour in the room then the Doctor sends the MA inside the room to say he doesn't see sick patients. I informed them he was sick he has some issues going on we've been coming here since 4/22 and we're trying to get to the bottom of this. He refused to see him, so we asked could we have a referral? We were told to wait the doctor will speak with us. We go inside his office and explain what's going on. He said he doesn't see sock patients go to urgent care. He goes your blood work is normal you're health. My dad I don't feel healthy and started explaining again. Dr Rafael Rodriguez stated he doesn't have time for this S***. I said excuse me are you cursing at us? He said yes and told us to get the F*** out of his office. The whole staff was stunned and looked at us as we were walking out. I've never been so humiliated in my life. My dad has been there four times not one time has he ever even examined him. He the kind of Dr that just bills the insurance company without doing any work. We will never step foot back in there again.

At approximately 11:00pm Woodmont Cardiologist recommended I be transferred to Northwest HCA Hospital because they are a cardiac care specialist. 3. At approximately 2:30am they admit me to room 433A. 4. At 5am a Cardiologist MD comes to see me and mumbles something and leaves. No plan of care. No clear communication. 5. At 8am still no communication about a care plan. Nurse tells me I have been scheduled for a stress test. 6. After a frustrating night without sleep and chronic pain and fatigue I decide that Northwest HCA is not where I'm going to receive the level of care I expected. So i ask nurse to preñan AMA release. 7. Still no MD shows up. Nurse explains and I ask to speak to an MD. Nope, that's not happening at Northwest HCA. DONT LET THE PRETTY LIGHTS AND SHINY FLOOR FOOL YOU. Northwest HCA is not about care and service and communication. It saddens me the lax employee culture. Sloppy and inattentive busy on their cell phones. Just pay attention to the first contact with checkin security. Eating potato chips, relaxed and chatting.

I did not feel physically or emotionally ready to be discharged, and I expressed that to the staff. Instead of feeling heard or supported, I felt dismissed. The way I was treated by the managers, Carissa and Kris, left a lasting impact on me. During our conversation, I was told that I needed to leave because other patients were waiting to deliver their babies. That made me feel like my recovery and well-being no longer mattered simply because I had already given birth. The days after childbirth are an incredibly vulnerable time for any mother. Compassion, empathy, and respect should never stop once the baby is born. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. This experience has stayed with me and has affected my postpartum journey. Instead of looking back on the birth of my child with happiness, I remember how I was treated during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I sincerely hope this hospital takes concerns like mine seriously and provides better support, communication, and compassion to future mothers. Every patient deserves to feel heard, respected, and cared for not rushed out the door. Please do better. Mothers and their babies deserve better.
