Donny and Memphis have created such an upbeat, vibey space…read morein Fort Wayne and while I didn't get to talk much with Donny (he was working with another customer), I did get to learn a lot about this space (and tattoos) through Memphis! While I've never gotten a tattoo, I was excited to watch my best friend get hers. Memphis offered a tour of the new space almost immediately and I couldn't help but notice the signatures of previous visitors on the wall, new merch hung up on a vintage clothing rack, and custom art hung around every room -- it was a gorgeous display of the range in artistry they both carry. After a few minutes of listening to my friend describe the tattoo she had in mind, he drafted a few designs and got started! We were there for about 3 hours and it passed by *so* quickly. Between the upbeat music, good conversation, and mini breaks to get readjusted, we barely noticed when the first hour had passed. Although I didn't get a tattoo that day, I do feel more confident after having a lot of my (admittedly, stupid) questions answered. I look forward to coming back for my own appointment in the future!

My tattoo turned out awesome. I had never been to Studio 13 before, and was really happy when I walked in, and saw how great the inside looked - plenty of light coming in, clean, semi-private spaces for each artist. The man at the front desk was very pleasant, explained the electronic paperwork to me, and my appointment was on time. After Austin was finished, my picture was taken with the studio's camera, and then they offered to take pictures of it on my phone for me, which I really appreciated. At checkout, I was given very clear after-care instructions, a packet of A&D ointment and some Studio 13 stickers. Please note, this place is cash only.

He showed me back to the extremely clean and pristine room. It took about 5 minutes for him to remove the piecing and I was only charged a small fee. The version he drew up for me not only included the quote "make every second count" that studio 13 told me should be omitted from the design because it wouldn't fit, but also included other 3d elements I didn't even think of that made the whole thing pop! They admitted the color scheme I wanted wouldn't work, but more experienced with my color they knew how to give me the light look I wanted, instead of the chunky heavy look the other studio had drawn up. Getting my tattoo obviously hurt, it goes from above and over my elbow to my wrist bone all along my ulna (outer arm bone), but the five hours was well worth it! I tipped the guy $100 because not only were their prices fair, it was $2-300 less than what the guy quoted me at studio 13, AND I got what I wanted. Being genuine and humble goes a long way in life, and when it comes to a customers body and ideas you need to be careful saying "no" and spend more time trying to work with them. I don't want some snob making me feel like my options are limited because of my skin color or tiny size. Truth Ink not only made my skin bloom, but they made me feel accepted, understood, and comfortable. Getting a tattoo is a serious process and having an artist as excited to put it on you as you are to get it is irreplaceable, and now rewarded with my continuing business. The guy at the front desk was super welcoming, funny,…read more helpful, and patient through my deliberating and encouraging about my concerns rather than being dismissive. I came in for a nose piercing and he set me up with Mariah who was also cool, kind, and helpful. Maybe this is normal but I felt weird giving my tip before I went back but she definitely earned it. I'm from Texas but visit Fort Wayne often and will definitely return for any other piercing needs.
